If so how much? Are some traits that are changable, other ones that aren't?

All humans are capable of change to an extent. Some change is physical - other change is psychological.
In fact, we all do regularly change from the time we are born to the time we die. Our opinions change, our habits change and our bodies change. Most change is based on experience.
However I do believe that some traits are not changeable. Psychological disorders or genetic predispositions can thwart or completely render a person's ability to change certain things impossible.-
Good answer.
I've spent a considerable amount of time unlearning things and not allowing them to be dictated by past experience.
On that last part, though, I wonder if we cannot change by changing the perception of the disorder. Maybe being a little out of sorts is just a different perception of the world?

Yes. Our attitudes, belief systems, ect. can all be changed.
No, we cannot change who we are and where we have been. These defining factors make up our foundations.
Maybe. Like what Anok said, Human beings change themselves every moment of every day. Some better, some worse, sometimes filing info away for future use. -
We really can change who we are. We can learn compassion. We can change our brain structure to cope with pain. We can engage in practices that truly alter the way we process information and respond to others and our environment. Of course we can change, if we want to. I agree that "we are what we think".

We can always change. Always.
I don't wait for New Years to come around to make resolutions. If there is something that I see doesn't work in my life, I resolve to change it right away. I have been quite successful at it.
I have changed in some pretty amazing ways over the years. I think the old me might not even recognize the new me. And that is a good thing. -
I think we can change the way we behave, but our core system of thinking is embedded in our brain chemistry. Has anyone taken a personality typing test? Like a Myers-Brigg? It's based on Jungian personality typology and can be really revealing. I am an INFJ, Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling and Judging. I am a creative idealist and this is more an indication of how my brain is set up and what drives my thought processes. It is not reflective of political views, popularity, or intelligence.
