I just got my first Adsense check and seem to be averaging about $20-25/mo from them. It pays for my hosting and maybe a one hour massage with tip once per year. At least I have revenue now which I'll report on my taxes and write some other related stuff off like my investing newspapers and magazines and my monthly Internet costs. If I can up my take I'll write off my computer and more. It's worth it to me just for the tax write offs I can use now.

I think it is possible to make millions a day on adsense, If you are google! Otherwise your content must be extraordinary and your daily traffic very high. I have made 94$ so far from Adsense, but You need to reach 100$ minimum before the first payout. I have had adsense on my site for over a year, But I will keep trying to improve my site and maybe one day.... I will get my first adsense check. I also joined payperpost and it seems to be an easier way to earn cash from blogging. AS far as retiring on blogging...I think I would be very hungry.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Having earn an income from Adsense and the like. It is all with the rankings. Google PR and also Alexa ranks play the part. Plus. get-paid-to-blog is one way to earn too. Anyway, I really do work hard right now to gain some traffic and increase my rank both Google PR and Alexa ranks.

yea I agree with zakman. Readers in every niche are looking for fresh content. A normal person who reads an issue in one newspaper isn't going to buy another newspaper that says the same thing. (Not if both have their own unique opinions and thoughts put into it.

Adsense works, but it all depends on where your traffic is coming FROM, and what they're looking FOR.

It helps to remember that your visitors are there mainly to read your content; no one visits a site just to click on ads, however attractive they may be.

Your best bet is traffic from search engines. Then again, searches for images will hardly get you any clicks. Also, the traffic from your blog community members don't count for clicks, cause they're there mainly to check your site out and help each other out, not to click on ads.

The real searches -- people looking for specific information -- will get you clicks. Ten again, your keywords count a lot.

For example, I have a post on Jenifer Hudson using Avon perfumes. And hopefully, Adsense will give you a couple of ads on fragrances. Visitors looking for info on Jennifer Hudson will not click on the ads. They read about Jennifer Hudson and leave.

On the other hand, people looking for fragrances, and the search shows Jennifer Hudson's post, they are more likely to read a bit as well as click on the fragrance ads.

This is only an example. The idea is to include keywords in your h1 tags, AND also make sure you have the LATEST content to show up on search. It is Google's business to show the latest and most relevant results to their search engine users. If you have terrific content, but is old news, you don't get picked up by Google spiders, which are always looking for fresh content. You don't want to read yesterday's newspaper, do you?

Of course you can, but as I've said countless times, you have to be ready to work hard for a while before seeing even a single penny get into you pocket..

I could probably live out of it if I didn't have any family or house to pay for :)

Ok, I do concentrate on Content as this will attract readers to read my blog. I've tried other alternatives like Bidvertiser but there's too many gambling ads in it. I have to remove all of them.

I agree with Rob, content is still "king", i think one should not moetize a blog right from the start, maybe wait a couple months, till it gets some decent traffic, and gradually test some alternatives to see what works best, since adsense is definitely not the only option bloggers have to monetize their blog(s). :)

I agree with rob. However you want to think about it, ones' own content come first. You want people to come again and again and again. With traffic, there's no fear of rejection by the ads company.

I'd focus on building a great resource and worry about ad revenue after. If you have low levels of traffic then whatever your model, you'll simply fail from the off. Build something useful that people will want to use and make it the best in its class.

I once had a site that pulled $10k a month from adsense, and there are lots of stories out there about others doing equally well and better, so yes you can certainly make money using adsense.

Not easy by any means - takes hard work day and night week in week out.

I've made some decent money off of Adsense before, just got to be smart about ads and where you place them.

Make them look like regular links in your website :).

To answer the original question then I believe there are quite a few examples out there of blogs that have made loads of cash from Adsense so yes I believe it's possible to make money with it. With that said then I think it's hard for medium sized sites to earn any substantial money from Adsense, at least my revenue so far is very meager, heh.

i agree with you Stubsy, there's a ton and a half ways to monetize a blog, adsense is fine, but there's also adbrite, bidvertiser, and services like blogtoproffits, payperpost, reviewme, sponsoredreviews that are fine, people are used to "skipping" the adsense ads anyway

In the end like any blog, its going to come down to your content. Fresh original content and having reasons for people to come back EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I think you need to ask yourself, why would someone be reading your blog? What makes you come back to certain blogs everyday? If you are catering your craft to the needs of your users they will come back frequently. I find that by just asking questions in my posts I tend to get more responses than a long drawn out article. Once you get someone engaging in a conversation you answer their questions and then they feel as though they are contributing to the website...

Once they feel like they are a part of the process then I believe they are more likely to return.

one little trick, after a couple months, check your stats and find what posts are getting a decent amount of traffic, edit the posts, remove the picture (if there was one) and replace it with a 250X250 adsense block, it works ok :)

The price per click you make is going to depend a lot upon the the category of your ads. On my cellphone blog I can tell you I have made like 70-80 cents a click before. I know tony had a blog a few months ago that was making him like 5 or 10 dollars a day in adsense. Thats my goal with my blog (if I ever get around to posting). That would be a nice little paycheck each month but to get clicks like that you really need to be on the ball, getting users to come back frequently and making sure your ads are in places people will click them.

it depends how you use adsense (not talking about "made for adsense" sites) but if you have a hosting company or a dedicated server, or run a medium/high traffic forum or blog, you can definitely make good money with adsense
