Hello,

I have two websites. About a month ago I changed the favicon on one of them. I still don't see it. All I am seeing is the generic IE7 "e" in my favorites and the address bar.

When you click on my site do you see my smiling face? The same as my avatar here. Or do you get a generic image? Thanks...

Damn, I hate IE. One more thing to waste my time on, trying to fix this.

I think you have to name it something else for IE.

My other site is working fine and I had a favicon for a long time. I deleted it and replaced it. So it was working before as I have it coded the same.

      www.svBellaRose.com My other site.

      Thanks.

Did you know that your new favicon is a different format from the other one? It's also much larger. You probably have a problem with the file type in IE.

      ekim,

You are telling me the favicon on teasemeteas (the new one) is a different format and size than the one on svBellaRose??
      Not 16x16?
    6. ekim941
      Yes.

The one that shows up in IE seems to be 32X32 with a smaller icon embedded in it.

The one that doesn't show up is 16X16 and "seems" to be a different format.

Ok, the one that shows up in IE and is 32X32 is windows Icon format

The other one is simply Jpg saved as Ico.

Yes. I might not have known what it was though if I hadn't seen your avatar. Then again, my eyes are bad.

    It also works in safari.

@ekim and everyone here at BG,

I just want to give a big thanks. I have asked several questions and received excellent help. Thank you.

On this favicon question. For the favicon to work properly in IE (as I understand) it must be type: icon. For some reason I can't explain, even though I used a favicon generator and it appeared at first glance to be correct, as ekim correctly pointed out it was actually type: jpeg.

Even when I deleted the favicon and re-generated it, it was still type: jpeg. I had to delete it again and use a different favicon generator to FINALLY get the correct type: icon. Geesh, I hate wasting time on stupid stuff.

But thanks again BC world for the help. It is very nice to have other people's views.

browsers often cache the favicon, so it may take a some time for a new one to appear. But it looks like you are on the right track. also, works fine in safari.

what other icon generator did you use? care to share? thanks:)

      @earthlingorgeous,

As thegoodknife said, I just uploaded my favicon 45 minutes ago and it will take a day or two before it appears in many browsers.

      What is your website?
    2. earthlingorgeous
I have favicon on earthlyexplorations.blogspot.com I had my favicon probably for hmmmm almost a month already but I can't see it been like that for two days.
    3. ekim941
@EG, you have the standard blogger favicon.

You can see it by adding /favicon.ico at the end of your url
