Somebody who had worked with the county for 27 years drove 15 tons of pay loader onto river ice, where it sank. ( apatheticlemming.blogspot.com/2008/12/oops-15-ton-pay-loader-poor-choice-fo... )
Has anything happened in your area that's less sensible?
(The fellow's okay - and the machine is out of the water now.)

This past summer, a garbage truck drove down I-94 with it's lift up and drove it into a major overpass. That was a "spendy" bit of stupidity. The falling concrete also landed on a passing car, but luckily the woman and her two small children were unhurt. The car, on the other hand, was not.

legbamel,
Right you are - can't believe I forgot about that. I was on the Interstate, a few miles behind the truck, driving up with my oldest daughter. We got an extra half-hour of conversation out of the resulting traffic jam ( smalltowndad.blogspot.com/2008/08/friday-afternoon-at-fair.html ).
Thanks for the reminder!
