Any Canadian manufacturers or vendors of natural products on the board? What do you think of C6 and the new NHP regulations? We just wrote the CHFA and popped the letter up on our blog. Anyone else write to Health Canada or the CHFA? www.seabuckthorn.net/index.php/?p=154

I agree with the Health Canada regulations on consumer products. The health food/supplement industry has been too open to abuse and some have indeed abused with the lack of quality of their products (to say the least).
Your letter seems very considered and reasonable, and it shouldn't be made difficult to comply or know what's going on.
It's always the good guys who suffer in these things, but the bad guys are to blame for creating the situation in the first place, not Health Canada.
Good luck in your efforts. -
Too often governments go to the extreme to control those who misuse free enterprise. The unintended consequences is that companies that have good products suffer because of wrong doers and governments that take the easy way out by slamming all products.

It is a bit of a challenge when governments introduce new legislation instead of just enforcing the current laws; there are a lot of people who believe that's what's happening with this issue. All ethical Canadian natural products manufacturers want a safe marketplace where consumers are protected from dangerous or questionable products. It would just be nice for that to happen without the chilling legislation that makes it harder for us to do business while failing to make the marketplace safer.

UPDATE: Now organisations are offering seminars in how to comply with the regulations. I guess that's how our federal Conservative party plans to prop up the Canadian economy: by creating a whole industry to help navigate their new legislation.
