Its not an easy topic, just wondering why you would start it on a whim.

Just because it isn't easy doesn't mean it shouldn't be discussed.

      Ok - I'll start.

I don't know anyone personally who has had cancer other than my cousin who I don't know very well.

She had a rare form of cancer in which the fetus of her unborn baby turned cancerous.

      Luckily she survived.

I know of a couple other people in my family's distant relations who has had cancer.

My step mom’s brother has rectal cancer and has been battling with Crohn's Disease.

There was a lady at work who's brother died from skin cancer. She actually picked up another job to help support her brother and his family financially, which I think is amazing. I have so much respect for her because of that.

I'm sure that someone in my current family will have cancer at some point.

I never said it shouldn't be discussed.

I lost my mom (throat), dad (lung) and brother(everywhere) to cancer.
I had ovarian cancer about 12 years ago and beat it.
In each case it was a very trying time in my life.
Death in general whether it be to cancer, a auto wreck etc is somewhat difficult. But, it exist and shouldn't be ignored.

My mom died three months ago from pancreatic cancer. She died two weeks after she got her biopsy results. I never knew it could take someone down so fast. Cancer is an awful way die.

My dad died from lung cancer 2 years ago this month. I remember being so horrified and shocked, even though I knew it was terminal. He was intially given 9-12 months to live, but ended up in hospital after 5 months. He deteriorated before our eyes within a few weeks and was gone. It was awful. I remember feeling very robbed - that he should have had another Christmas etc, that he didn't get the time he was promised. Mad really. There is nothing predictable about this illness. Evil.
