   I have had both Canon and Nikon, but they were both film SLR's not digital. So, I can't really comment on digital.
   
   I will say that my Nikon FM2 had a metal body and the Canon Eos had a plastic body, but that doesn't apply to digital SLR's.

      If you are looking at digital, my experience doesn't apply. I will say this, both created excellent images. But my Nikon FM2 also had a very expensive German lense on it.
      
      Your lenses may end up being more important than the body you go with.

   i prefer nikon. i can't wait until the next camera comes out to replace the current d700. i heard it will offer 1080p video.

   I think they are both great...the reviews on both camera makers are great! But personally, I've only had experience with Canon and think Canon cameras are very easy to use and of excellent quality. Their customer service is excellent, too.!
