I have this theory, Cat lovers are more independent. More women like cats. I've also found that writers are more connected to cats then dogs. agree or disagree? are you a cat person or dog person? Since blogging requires writing, i think it will be cats by a landslide.

      LOL meow meow too

cats are the best (dogs are great too, but I'll take a cat over a dog)
  1. clioandme
Cats *and* dogs of course! That's how I grew up, anyway.
  2. bloggernoob
    i'm a cats guys. gotta earn a cat's love.
  3. Anok
Cats. But I do like dogs a lot too....I'm just a "catty" person!

Ba-dum-dum, tsh! (Thats a rim shot, in case you were wondering)
  4. inmyheels
    Dogs! (I love you Cinammon!!!)
  5. Pentad
inmyheels. The dog I had growing up was called Sugar..hehe..he lived 19 yrs. He was hyper.
  6. jswy315
The two main difference is that cats poop in a box, dogs poop on your expensive Persian carpet which takes you 46 minutes to clean and even then it is not fully terminated. Also you don't have to wash your cat, they clean themselves! I haven't washed my cat in 4 years!
  7. bnsullivan
    Kitties rule!!
  8. kristilinauer
Dogs for me...and I'm quite an independent person.
    1. bloggernoob
it was just a general statement. i think dog people are independent as well. no blood no foul?
    1. globalgirl
Why did you remove the links to your cats? They were purrrrty. heehee
    2. bloggernoob
beautiful pictures. looks very professional. your cats are purrty! hee hee

    2. globalgirl
I hear them purring with all the ooohs and aaaahs. Spoiled kitties.
  10. FLOOG
Thank you. Photography for pleasure. Yeah, we got those names right with the lads, always chasing each other and being mischievous!
  11. wozog
If you like cats vote for your favorite at www.wozog.com
    1. FLOOG
That's a cute selection in your competition, and a very nice site. I spoke to my boys hoping to enter them, but they declined after the debacle over them winning 'Who wants to be a furry millionaire', I don't think the $32 would travel well to the UK....he he
    2. globalgirl
Hey, based on the "candidates" I think Tom and Jerry will win. I nominate Tom and Jerry, Wozog.

I can't enter the competition as my cat died last year of old age.
  12. xtremer
I like doggies more than cats......sometimes, cats' eyes scare me to death.....moreover dogs are more sensible and loyal....
  13. genopianist54
I hate cats and love dogs very much... i'm a dog person
    1. globalgirl
uh oh. well, my cat thought he was a dog. really.
    2. genopianist54
When i was a kid i thought I was a dog too ha ha.. i like to bite my nanny's arm..
  14. freeatlast
    Raccoons...seriously.

I haven't had a pet since I moved to the city... and think they are environmentally unsound. I like my geraniums though.
  15. PetLvr
definitely a DogLvr.com although, I'm also a CatLvr.com .. Mostly leaning towards dogs though - as my own cat constantly tries to kill me (like Stewey) if I don't clean his litter regularly or feed him on time - usually while trying to walk down the stairs actually.
    1. globalgirl
Bet your cat is "talking" all the way down the stairs too
    2. bloggernoob
i didn't u had the cat domain as well. nice. ur just a lover of animals aren't cha!
  16. webrunner
Big dog person with a preference for dobermans.
Cats always look like they're conspiring something against you.
  17. Craw
    DOG!

The difference between cats & dogs is: a dog thinks you are its master... a cat thinks it's your master :/

I've also experienced A LOT of cats that don't go out of the way of a moving vehicle, even when the the driver has been blowing his horn in a panic. Dogs move out of the way after tapping the horn a couple of times... in my eyes that's the more intelligent move.

Dogs also serve as guard dogs/protectors. Dachshunds serves as a friend, guard dog, & rodent killer.

I think dogs help humans more than cats...

    /me prepares for the flaming...
    1. Norski
Depends on whether you've got mouse problems or not.

I haven't noted the won't-move-for-a-vehicle behavior, but I wouldn't call cats exactly dumb. They are not good at doing tricks: no question about it.

On the other hand, I've known them to show some ingenuity, finding ways into areas they weren't supposed to be in.

Whatever: Dogs are, it seems, bred to be very, very pliable companions to us. Cats came on the scene much later, when we started storing grain. Cats are splendid rodent control systems - and we (wisely) haven't messed too much with a system that works.

I understand cats better than I do dogs, because of my background. But, I've gotten along fine with dogs, too.
  18. davet
my cat is good in that he is low maintenance (not like my girlfriend, lol) and he even cleans up the crumbs on the floor. on the down side, i wish i could get a life like his...sleep some 16 hours a day!
  19. auburn28
DOGS! even if i'm reincarnate i'll choose dog again.
  20. exinco
i have cat and dog. they are different in character but both make me happy and enjoy
  21. bloggernoob
seems like cats are winning! go cats!
  22. laughoutloudadmin
erm.. can i love Chinchilla?? lol..
  23. mlinauer
I love cats. Have always owned one and will from this point forward own two cats. My wife is the independent one in the family and shes a dog lover.
  24. GlossGreen
I've had this cat here for 12 years now. He is the coolest animal I've ever had. I hate to even think of him as a pet because he is part of the family. I have never been able to think the same way of a dog. We have 2 great dogs too, but it's just not the same for me. As far as what I'm like, I'm like the cat. Independent and always (usually) mellow.

And just reading the title always makes me think of Ghostbusters. "Cats and dogs living together! Mass hysteria!"
  25. gosmelltheflowers
I'm a writer and find that I like both cats and dogs, as well as a lot of other furry animals. Although, dogs have a special place in the old heart. Can't vouch for the other founders though.
  26. Dukepro25
I'm more of a dog person, but cats are cool too.

Like men and woman, they each have their good points and bad points.

Dogs are by far better companions and a lot more fun to have around.

Cats are kind of snobby, but very cuddly!

Dogs can be very rambunctious and can be difficult to manage.

Cats can be very sweet, but I can’t stand the hair!
  27. 2sweetnsaxy
Hmmmm.... I'm very independent and don't like cats because they're too independent. I want a dog but don't want to take care of one right now so a cat would work better for me... but when I prefer the love and companionship of a dog opposed to the cat who might only be a companion if and when it feels like it.
  28. Aprilfreelance
Well, hmmm... I just started writing for We Heart Cats.com and have owned cats all my life. But at home, although I do have two cats, I also have a spoiled Yorkie-poo permanently attached to my side. Where I go, he goes. He won't even go outside without me.

I don't think I could really choose between the two as pets because I have always owned both. However, I do admit I am much more fascinated by wild cats and big cats than wolves or coyotes or other wild canines.
  29. Dukepro25
I am fascinated with Wolves and Panthers.
    1. Dukepro25
I'm getting a baby kitten this week! YAY!!! It has a black head and a white body. Weird huh?
    2. Aprilfreelance
Hey, Dukepro25! I need some kitten pictures for my cat blog. If you don't mind sharing, send some my way when you have a chance to take a few. aprilfreelance@aol.com. I want to use kitten pics for the kids' section I'm going to design for the site. Include names and a link to your site, if you want a link back, and whether you want a copyright notice or free use.

That is, of course if you don't have plans of your own for the pictures.
    3. Dukepro25
      I'll keep that in mind!

      Thanks!
    4. janeycatte
      I'm jealous!

Oh well, once we get our own place I can become known as the 'cat lady'...lol

I am more of a cat person, but I like dogs too.
  32. bobonism
Cat but i like doggie style. lol
  33. Topher
I adore cats. They are cute to look at and need human company as much as dogs do. I don't mind dogs but for me it has to be cats every time.

My cat Tiggy has her own cat blog and she has over a hundred cat friends. You can check her blog out via the first page of my own blog: web.mac.com/a3racer1

  34. janeycatte
Look at my profile... cats obviously!

Unfortunately, we're renting while saving to buy, and can't have a kitty in the house.
It might seem strange, but I feel like there's an empty space (in the house, in me...) without a cat in our home.
  35. ender
    both.

my partner and i have 4 cats (blended household, you know) and two miniature dachshunds.
  36. Manictastic
I once had a cat, but it died I don't think any cat can replace my old cat, she was that nice to me. :'(
    1. janeycatte
Hi Manictastic, I know what you mean. It's been seven years since my beautiful furry baby died, and I *think* I'm ready to adopt a new kitten sometime soon.

      It does get better...
  37. nplbjirel
I like cats because they are cute(yes dogs are also cute but not all them as cats).
I do not have neither cat or dog at this time but there in our family we had more cats than dogs as far as I know.
  38. Asphodel
I am owned by a cat.
  39. davet
cats for easy maintenance...dogs for best buddies
  40. DrowseyMonkey
Both! I always had both, but after my pup passed away I didn't get another one because I moved into an apartment ... it's tough having a dog without a yard. My cat was a bit more adaptable.
  41. ekim941
Don't mean to shamelessly promote but this is a short funny post.
    ekim-randomramblings.blogspot.com/2007/12/in-dogs-mind.html
    1. DrowseyMonkey
LOL - funny. Well, I'd rather have my dinner on a plate too! Sheesh!
  42. neobluepanther
    How about neither?
    1. DrowseyMonkey
Neither? Really? I couldn't live without a cat or a dog ... they're the best.
  43. Landon
Dog person, I have two great danes that I breed, well, they breed and haven't had their first litter yet. Dog person, did I mention dog person.

we also have a cat, they are totally more independent, less affectionate and like to screw with you while your sleeping. I have had three cats in my adult life and they all like to mess with your feet or try to lay on you at 3am.

I have had several dogs in my adulthood and only once has a 200# dog ever tried anything like that in the middle of the night!

Great topic noob, got me out of my head for a minute, I appreciate that.

we can post pics in these conversations right??? sorry, new to BC, and to tired to figure it out.

if I figure it out tomorrow I will post a pick of my dogs trying to eat a jar of peanut butter... oh, cats are a bit smarter than dogs!
  44. TheMrs
    Dogs.

Cats have the hairball thing (even hairball remedy doesn't always work) and the litter box. *gag*

I've had two cats previously and while they were wonderful and I miss them dearly, once the last one passed on, it's been nothing but dogs. Two Labradors to be exact.

    I'm a sucker for spazzes.

P.S. I disagree with your theories.
    1. bloggernoob
the hairball thing freaked me out when i first got a cat. i thought my halle was sick or something. but after a while, u get used to it. it's harder to receive love from a cat. i like the challenge. and dogs are too needy
  45. graphicidentity
Miawww... I love cute cats..always say hi when I meet them wandering on the street... I had Siamese cat, his name was Timmy. I think he understood human speaking..unfortunetly he passed away years ago.. Gosh..I miss talking with Timmy
  46. wordwelder
Cats, I am owned by a large ginger Persian. Though I do have a Collie as well.
  47. shawie9877
pretty much, dogs are smarter than cats, bow wow wow, lols!
    1. bloggernoob
u really think so? sure they can fetch and play dead...but can they sense stress? i was feeling blue and a bit stress, and my cat would come sit on my lap. it was as if she knew. amazing.
    2. brigid
Dogs can sense stress, they're just clumsier about comforting their owners.

Like the cartoon of a huge St. Bernard sitting on his owner who was having a heart attack. The big idiot's just trying to help!
  48. lavameanslove
I honestly think that cats are more intelligent than dogs.

Suffice to say, I like cats.
  49. bloggernoob
i think so too. dog owners just don't know
  50. daniel23
Cats. But I want to get a bulldog one day.

There's that great Winston Churchill quote -- "I like pigs. Dogs look up to you. Cats look down on you. Pigs treat you as an equal." (Churchill even looked porcine, and definitely was a dirty bastard!)
  51. bloggernoob
    cats are cleaner
  52. crkian
Neither, but they both need eating
  53. RioTheYorkiePoo
    Doggies first...then cats...
They say I'm a dog and a cat anyway!
    Can you believe that?
    Yeah...I might be...

I had cats my entire life and bonded with them to the soul~ then my cat of 20yrs passed and my son wanted a dog. I was against it, but now that pitt is the love of my life and my bestest friend. Guess it comes down to just loving beings period!! OOurghh, she is SO cute I could just eat her nose!!!
  57. BrianLam
Cats are really cute but dogs can be playful too. It's really hard to choose. Think I can be both a cat and dog person at different times of the day.
  58. jackpayne
    Both, but dogs preferred.
  59. shawie9877
    a shameless promotion that is:)

dog lovers, I have some art stuff in my store in EBay. You can visit if you have time:) thanks!

Got 4 cats (2 fresh born) and one dog.
  61. francoyong
I vote for dogs. They are more loyal. They will stick to their believe and are passionate. When you write or do something or in a relationship, it is for the long run. Dogs...yes...for me!! :-)
  62. sayeeth
Interesting theory. How did you deduce that cat lovers are independent and that women like cats? The women I've known are usually dog lovers. As far as writers are concerned, yeah I've seen a couple of them (on screen) doting on their cats more than dogs. But I'm more of a dog person cause I find cats just like to laze around and get fat. Not that I have a pet or anything but just what I've encountered thus far.
  63. sephiroth2483
Gotta love dogs! I love the way they jump just to greet you
  64. rippinkitten
I have a black kitty, no surprise there, right?. I do like dogs though and maybe some day I will get one, but not while I have my cat. He does not like pooches!
  65. nardeeisms
If I HAD to make a choice, it would be Dogs.
  66. myriadlife
I love both, but picking up dog's pooh is not much fun. But then cleaning up dead mice & pigeons isn't either. Still love them both though.

  74. webdiggin
    Cats.

Used to be a dog person.

Then I learned about the wonders of kitty litter.
  75. comeintomyworld
Woof, woof! I think that dog people like to nurture more. Dogs need more care and attention and give you the only greeting of its kind whether you were gone 5 minutes or 5 hours. Dogs give back and many are helpers. They truly are man's best friend.
Cats are great too. They're so interesting and their purrs are soothing,
but they can't stay put on the ground and their hair doesn't taste good in my cereal.
    1. bloggernoob
haha. true. dogs need more attention and care. they're more fun to play with. but something very mysterious and intriguing about cats. and i like to earn respect from my furry companion. also like low maintenance pets.
  76. BudgetBride
Dog person all my life. Didn't care for cats. No one in my family had them, due to several having an allergy. Eight years ago someone gave me a cat and a sad story. Now, I have two! I still love dogs, but will now and forever be a true 'cat person.'
    1. bloggernoob
that funny thing is, a lot of people say they are alergic to cats, when they really aren't. i guess they fear the furry
  77. brigid
I like cats! They're small and purr and don't drag you around like a tin can when going for walks.(though, granted, I haven't dared put a leash on a cat yet). They're also pretty low maintenance.

I like dogs! They're friendly and often energetic and will protect you till the end. They're also easier to play games with.

I like rabbits! They're cute and fuzzy and nibble their food in such a cute manner and did I mention that they're cute? My little rabbit is the most adorable thing on the face of the earth!

I like all sorts of animals. Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, snakes, iguanas, crickets, goldfish... pretty much everything. There are some wild animals I'd like to have as pets. Like raccoons! Or foxes! Squirrels!!

    Dogs rule!

I haven't met a "normal" cat. One friend's cat we called Psyco Kitty. She would arch and spit for no apparent reason. Another's cats would hide in the closet for days at a time. How can you have a relationship with an animal who's just not interested in you?
