Cats or Dogs?

I have this theory, Cat lovers are more independent. More women like cats. I've also found that writers are more connected to cats then dogs. agree or disagree? are you a cat person or dog person? Since blogging requires writing, i think it will be cats by a landslide.

I've always owned cats, they're independent.

definitely a DogLvr.com although, I'm also a CatLvr.com .. Mostly leaning towards dogs though - as my own cat constantly tries to kill me (like Stewey) if I don't clean his litter regularly or feed him on time - usually while trying to walk down the stairs actually.

DOG!
The difference between cats & dogs is: a dog thinks you are its master... a cat thinks it's your master :/
I've also experienced A LOT of cats that don't go out of the way of a moving vehicle, even when the the driver has been blowing his horn in a panic. Dogs move out of the way after tapping the horn a couple of times... in my eyes that's the more intelligent move.
Dogs also serve as guard dogs/protectors. Dachshunds serves as a friend, guard dog, & rodent killer.
I think dogs help humans more than cats...
/me prepares for the flaming...-
Depends on whether you've got mouse problems or not.
I haven't noted the won't-move-for-a-vehicle behavior, but I wouldn't call cats exactly dumb. They are not good at doing tricks: no question about it.
On the other hand, I've known them to show some ingenuity, finding ways into areas they weren't supposed to be in.
Whatever: Dogs are, it seems, bred to be very, very pliable companions to us. Cats came on the scene much later, when we started storing grain. Cats are splendid rodent control systems - and we (wisely) haven't messed too much with a system that works.
I understand cats better than I do dogs, because of my background. But, I've gotten along fine with dogs, too.

my cat is good in that he is low maintenance (not like my girlfriend, lol) and he even cleans up the crumbs on the floor. on the down side, i wish i could get a life like his...sleep some 16 hours a day!

I've had this cat here for 12 years now. He is the coolest animal I've ever had. I hate to even think of him as a pet because he is part of the family. I have never been able to think the same way of a dog. We have 2 great dogs too, but it's just not the same for me. As far as what I'm like, I'm like the cat. Independent and always (usually) mellow.
And just reading the title always makes me think of Ghostbusters. "Cats and dogs living together! Mass hysteria!" -
I'm more of a dog person, but cats are cool too.
Like men and woman, they each have their good points and bad points.
Dogs are by far better companions and a lot more fun to have around.
Cats are kind of snobby, but very cuddly!
Dogs can be very rambunctious and can be difficult to manage.
Cats can be very sweet, but I can’t stand the hair! -
Hmmmm.... I'm very independent and don't like cats because they're too independent. I want a dog but don't want to take care of one right now so a cat would work better for me... but when I prefer the love and companionship of a dog opposed to the cat who might only be a companion if and when it feels like it.

Well, hmmm... I just started writing for We Heart Cats.com and have owned cats all my life. But at home, although I do have two cats, I also have a spoiled Yorkie-poo permanently attached to my side. Where I go, he goes. He won't even go outside without me.
I don't think I could really choose between the two as pets because I have always owned both. However, I do admit I am much more fascinated by wild cats and big cats than wolves or coyotes or other wild canines. -

Hey, Dukepro25! I need some kitten pictures for my cat blog. If you don't mind sharing, send some my way when you have a chance to take a few. aprilfreelance@aol.com. I want to use kitten pics for the kids' section I'm going to design for the site. Include names and a link to your site, if you want a link back, and whether you want a copyright notice or free use.
That is, of course if you don't have plans of your own for the pictures.

Dogs and mine has his own blog... cooperthedogs.blogspot.com/

I adore cats. They are cute to look at and need human company as much as dogs do. I don't mind dogs but for me it has to be cats every time.
My cat Tiggy has her own cat blog and she has over a hundred cat friends. You can check her blog out via the first page of my own blog: web.mac.com/a3racer1

I once had a cat, but it died
I don't think any cat can replace my old cat, she was that nice to me. :'( -
Don't mean to shamelessly promote but this is a short funny post.

Dog person, I have two great danes that I breed, well, they breed and haven't had their first litter yet. Dog person, did I mention dog person.
we also have a cat, they are totally more independent, less affectionate and like to screw with you while your sleeping. I have had three cats in my adult life and they all like to mess with your feet or try to lay on you at 3am.
I have had several dogs in my adulthood and only once has a 200# dog ever tried anything like that in the middle of the night!
Great topic noob, got me out of my head for a minute, I appreciate that.
we can post pics in these conversations right??? sorry, new to BC, and to tired to figure it out.
if I figure it out tomorrow I will post a pick of my dogs trying to eat a jar of peanut butter... oh, cats are a bit smarter than dogs! -
Dogs.
Cats have the hairball thing (even hairball remedy doesn't always work) and the litter box. *gag*
I've had two cats previously and while they were wonderful and I miss them dearly, once the last one passed on, it's been nothing but dogs. Two Labradors to be exact.
I'm a sucker for spazzes.
P.S. I disagree with your theories.

Interesting theory. How did you deduce that cat lovers are independent and that women like cats? The women I've known are usually dog lovers. As far as writers are concerned, yeah I've seen a couple of them (on screen) doting on their cats more than dogs. But I'm more of a dog person cause I find cats just like to laze around and get fat. Not that I have a pet or anything but just what I've encountered thus far.

Woof, woof! I think that dog people like to nurture more. Dogs need more care and attention and give you the only greeting of its kind whether you were gone 5 minutes or 5 hours. Dogs give back and many are helpers. They truly are man's best friend.
Cats are great too. They're so interesting and their purrs are soothing,
but they can't stay put on the ground and their hair doesn't taste good in my cereal. -
Dog person all my life. Didn't care for cats. No one in my family had them, due to several having an allergy. Eight years ago someone gave me a cat and a sad story. Now, I have two! I still love dogs, but will now and forever be a true 'cat person.'
-
I like cats! They're small and purr and don't drag you around like a tin can when going for walks.(though, granted, I haven't dared put a leash on a cat yet). They're also pretty low maintenance.
I like dogs! They're friendly and often energetic and will protect you till the end. They're also easier to play games with.
I like rabbits! They're cute and fuzzy and nibble their food in such a cute manner and did I mention that they're cute? My little rabbit is the most adorable thing on the face of the earth!
I like all sorts of animals. Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, snakes, iguanas, crickets, goldfish... pretty much everything. There are some wild animals I'd like to have as pets. Like raccoons! Or foxes! Squirrels!! -
cats - I have one who thinks she is a star - she has her own YouTube channel - check it out - www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=DA50C76D4C492370
