Topics: blogging, change the world, change the world wednesday's, environment, environmental awareness, Green Living, increase blog rank, increase blog traffic, sustainability
I started a new group here on BC called Change The World www.blogcatalog.com/group/change-the-world and invite anyone who is interested to join. All I ask is to keep the discussions relevant to the group in some way.
If you don’t know about Change The World Wednesday's, livesmartbook.blogspot.com/2009/08/change-world-wednesdays.html it is a program engaged by the blogging community to spread knowledge and create collaboration on issues focused on improving the world we all live in by collectively engaging in a weekly activity to be in some way more sustainable or environmentally friendly then to also do a post about it if you like. This brilliant concept was introduced by my friend Small Footprints.

reducefootprints.blogspot.com/2009/06/change-world-wednesdays.html
This is a great opportunity to make a difference while also boosting your blog traffic, readers and ranking.
What do you think? Is it something you're willing to try? If you're new to our challenges, please visit this link livesmartbook.blogspot.com/2009/07/change-world-wednesdays.html to read all about it and get the "rules". And remember, anyone who accepts the challenge gets a place in our highly touted "Honor Society" that will help boost your traffic, links and rankings(just leave a comment ... it's as simple as that). If you write a post about it let us know so we can "Stumble" it (just be sure to let me or Small Footprints know about it, okay). If you're on Twitter, join us in tweeting about it (my ID = tcinvestor and Reduce Footprints is = Smallftprints). Include the tag #changetheworldwed ... maybe we can start a trend.

Glad to help get the word out. We are trying to get the advertising for our bees and pigs to be more earth friendly too if any one has any ideas.
-
I would rather no trees be harmed in advertising but If I needed to use paper then I would like 100% recycled and that is hard to find in these neck of the woods.
-
Hey I wish someone would come help us fight the international paper company around here. It is bad. Everything has gone to pines and they spray the hardwoods to kill them. They did it this year behind the house with a helicopter. Made hubby so mad. They have all the land around here and what they done this one farmer has (big ag) but atleast he is working with us on the bees and spraying later in the afternoon and letting us put bees near his crops. We are educating him atleast.
-
Amy. Here is a site that may help you out since it is internet driven therefore reducing paper consumption concerns. www.blogcatalog.com/blog/be-smart-shop-local
You might also find some good resources here: livesmartbook.blogspot.com/2009/07/make-difference-buy-local-organic-fair_2... -
Have you looked into places in Asheville? There may be a local place very supportive of your interests as that area has a strong support for environmental conservation & advocacy with lots of small companies or individuals doing small production work. Maybe even a local college. Put a sign up with your ideas & see if you get a bite.

I think this is a great idea. More people should do it. Just like what happened with Earth Hour this year. It was fantastic that everyone stood together and made a difference.

@dbowles
So if I jump off the edge of a cliff, you will too? LOL
@tcinvestor
You didn't recognize him? You can see from his new avatar that he's turning over a new 'leaf' (excuse the pun) and becoming a Green Crusader

@db
How very selfish of you
@tcinvestor
When are you going to announce the challenge for next week?
Also, the vegetarian challenges will go very well with asshole's cooking blog/anyone with a cooking blog, because then the challenge for them will be to cook tasty vegetarian-only meals.-
This weeks challenge is still in play so if you or anyone wants to do a blog post about it then please do. Then let me know by leaving me a comment at my blog with the link. You will then be featured in next weeks Honor Roll post. Next week the challenge will be out on Wednesday. Thus the name - Change The World Wednesday's - which is the official name.
-
I'm just wondering how a 'green post' will fit in with my blog? My blog is in the total opposite genre, since it's mainly about gender issues, sex etc.
-
This is wonderful! New faces, new enthusiasm ... the world will be a better place for all your efforts!
Hey ... if anyone has suggestions for one of our challenges, be sure to let me or TC know ... I'm open. Take a look at previous challenges to get an idea of how they work (reducefootprints.blogspot.com and search "change the world wednesday"). The only criteria are that they be 1)Green & something which will benefit the earth, and 2)Something that everyone can do (so a challenge to go out and buy a new hybrid is probably not something that we all could do, unfortunately). Nothing illegal or nasty ... and I always maintain the right to accept, change or refuse any submission (although I really try to use them "as is").
So ... send them my way ... I'll give you and your blog credit for the challenge.
Is this a challenge within a challenge!
We're changing the world ... one challenge at a time!
-
@tcinvestor
Well, I can't write about green issues on a sex-related blog, so I'll send footprints a list of challenges.
I don't yet have time to start a new blog, although I'd like to in the future. -

Tell everyone ... maybe we can turn this into a huge, global movement. Imagine ... together we can do what government officials don't seem able to do. How cool is that!
Have a good weekend everyone!

BTW - I will soon be dumping this thread & start a new one with a different title because this one is a bit misleading and sounds to much like a garbage traffic thread. I hope you will join in the discussion on the new thread next week. I will transfer the thank you's of all the members onto the new thread. Thanks. -

I think that we can improve our world gradually when we will start overcoming greediness, laziness, money-grubbing, fear, hypocrisy and pride.
What it gives?
1) we will improve personal health and relationships
2) we will use less paper
3) we will litter less -

The Challenge for the week August 19th -August 26th
*******************************
Okay ... are you ready for a new challenge? This one combines a couple of suggestions made by amybyrd21 www.blogcatalog.com/blog/waylandcook (aka waylandcook) at The Wayland Springs Cook. Here you go:
This week, turn your trash bin into the smallest container in the house by starting a compost bin and/or a recycle bin.
Or, if you're already a composter and recycler, write a post about it. Include information on what works for you and what doesn't, tips on how to be successful at it, and perhaps why it's preferable over sending stuff to a landfill.
*******************************
Here is my post about Recycling and Composting: www.livesmartbook.blogspot.com/2009/08/recycling-made-easy-with-earth911com...
Thanks for spreading the word!
