As usual ... an incredible group with wonderful posts! Thanks to all of you!
Here is this week's challenge:
For one week, say "NO" to polystyrene foam (commonly known as Styrofoam). This means ... don't buy it (no Styrofoam coolers, cups or toys), don't use it and don't buy anything that comes in it. At restaurants, should you have leftover food to take home, ask the server to put it in something other than Styrofoam. At fast-food establishments, refuse to buy any products which come in it. Just Say No!

Thank you for Changing The World Wednesday!

Change The World Wednesday
How did you do on last week's challenge? Did you manually put your computer to sleep or did you change your settings so that it will, forever more, slumber when not in use? I've set my settings to hibernate after 10 minutes of non-use ... so that I never have to think about it. Be sure to go back and read some of the comments from that challenge ... there are some good ideas on other ways to reduce our energy usage.
Let's start with a few quick reminders:
The "rules" and a list of all challenges can be found HERE.
If you write an article about our challenge, it will get stumbled (by me and hopefully by others as well).
Leave a comment on this challenge, agreeing to participate and you'll be added to the Honor Society.
Post the Honor Society, along with links, to your blog/site and all of our rankings with improve.
If you're a Twitter member, pass the word using the hashtag #ctww.
And, hop over to Blog Catalog and join Change The World. -
If we change the world, is a question of uniting against tyranny, oppression and absurdity capitalism, which is leading to global poverty. Anna.
-
Hi Anna...and thank you for visiting....how do we change global poverty? What things can we do now to help with this problem?
Anthony
I come across many ways to help change the world every day and try my best to at least help change the world....

Anything other than capitalism leads to tyranny. Capitalism is what has made America one of the richest nations in the world. It has only been after the Federal Reserve Bank and Washington bureaucracy messing with it with Keynesian Economics, that we find ourselves in this mess. They are tearing it apart and Americans are paying the price.

Yes indeed....we need a total overhaul! What are your suggestions on this matter!
Please elaborate here....and thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Nice discussion. If we would like to change the world....you can do it little by little everyday and you can let your consciuss be independently strong....Like Anna said, to change everything suddenly is quite impossible.
But I think the world is changing gradually to good way, as it's always been, as our thoughts are changing;-) -

Thanks Eduardo....the world has changed this year in a big way! And we need to help it to keep changing in positive ways....
Here's how we should do everyone...write this down and stick it on your mirror...
All that matters is the you dedicate yourself to be a little better today than you were yesterday!

FaithfulinPrayer I would answer and I think what he has done great in North America are the people who live there, not capitalism. May God forgive you, Jesus was not capitalist. Anna.

Hi Tony,
I originally started Change The World Wednesdays because I had this idea that if a whole bunch of us did the same activity during the same time frame, we could have a big environmental impact. There have been some nice "side affects" ... we've had the opportunity to try things that perhaps we hadn't thought about, we're having fun and ... it has become something of a social network since we publish links to everyone who commits to joining in. In addition, anyone who writes a post/article about the challenge gets that post stumbled by me (if they let me know over at Reduce Footprints) and I do a fair amount of tweeting about it (with the hashtag #ctww). It's a total win-win situation!
Anyone and everyone can join in ... the more the merrier. And I really encourage everyone to talk about it, post about it and spread the word. Here's the direct link to the very loose "rules", a list of all the challenges and some tips for using these challenges to promote your site: reducefootprints.blogspot.com/2009/08/ctww-rules-and-challenges.html
As for getting the challenges posted here ... please feel free to stop by every Wednesday and copy them into this group. All I ask is that you include a link to the challenge on Reduce Footprints.
So that I don't miss any comments, suggestions or posts ... please be sure to leave me a comment at Reduce Footprints. There are so many places picking up these challenges that I can't keep track of everything so ... leaving me a message there will ensure that I get it!
Thanks, again, Tony ... I really appreciate your efforts!
