Cheap flights, no seat. Would you stand for it?

One airline, Ireland's RyanAir, is considering charging flyers less if they stand for the entire flight in one section of modified aircraft.
Some reports state that the cut-price airline may even offer flights for free (they will make their money while you stand at the bar, buying food and drink).
So would you stand on a flight if it meant a cheap or free flight?

How will they handle take offs and landings?
And how will such a scheme get past regulators?
I think it is a stupid idea, considering the cost of fuel and the idea of people knocking each other down like bowling pins as the wheels touch the tarmac on landing.
And no, I wouldn't consider it. Not even for free.-
Collapsible seats??
Oh, THOSE will be really safe in an emergency...and what about heavy turbulence? Flights inside South Africa are generally 3 hours or less, but I've been on flights where the weather was so crap that we had the seatbelt sign on the whole trip due to being bounced up and down like a rubber ball.
I think it is a stupid idea.
What might work, however, is to go back to the original 747 idea...a passenger lounge where there is a bar and people can stand and walk around at will, returning to their seats for take off, landing, and turbulence, but those of us who prefer to sit and read can stay in our seats and do so. -
There is a way you could do it safely but it would involve some very unusual furnishings in the aircraft that would effectively prevent passangers from buying snacks and beverages. Namely tension ropes. Might actual be safer then seats when you think about it, as there's more bending space and you can effectively turn the entire passanger compartment in to a giant slinky vibrating the forces out, but would be considerably more uncomfortable and scary of a ride then what this airline would likely consider. You might have to pay people to do it.

I was thinking more like Winnipeg to Toronto, Winnipeg to Vancouver, Winnipeg to Calgary etc ... 2-3 hours max. I've flown from Winnipeg to Toronto to London UK years ago and although the air time was about 8-9 hours, it took about 15 hours. I would have preferred to stand the entire time rather than those cheap flight seats I had - where they crammed in about 4 extra rows of seats to make a buck. My legs were cramped and locked in a semi-fetal position it was so bad .. and could barely stand when I arrived.
They would need like, walls, or netting from top to bottom or something to lean on .. and it would be okay with me.

I have several times flown for free on RyanAir, or for 1euro. But you must add the airport taxes, which amounted to 35euro round trip. The total bus fare to and from the airports is 40-45euro. Still 80 euro for paneuropean travel is a good deal.

I wouldn't, I think flights are uncomfortable enough the way they are now. And I agree with SweetViolet, how would they get approval for that? I don't get the idea with collapsible seats... If there's room enough to have a seat for everyone for takeoff and landing, why would you have to stand during the flight? Couldn't you just stay in the seat if you wanted...? It's not like it would save any space, and besides, RyanAir flights are always half empty anyway. At least the ones I've flown with. Is it just a scheme to get rid of some weight by replacing the regular sturdy seats with flimsy folding chairs to cut the fuel expenses?

I can't help but picture the cargo hold of a plane with people jammed in like sardines. I also picture how hellish it is to be stuck standing on a crowded subway car for more than an hour.
I don't think it's worth it. Then again, I'm someone who pays the extra $50 so I can get an economy plus seat. More leg room.
I'm only 5'-0" tall and I find the leg room cramped. I can't even imagine how people taller than me tolerate it.
