The importer (I think) is Musicians Pro Shop in Brissie and on the Gold Coast.
But I still reckon they are too dear. But buying from the importer gives you a little be of room to move on price.
In the past I'd spent about 10 grand with them on the Gold Coast. I went to buy a semi acoustic from them. ( a Joe Pass Ibanez) , the salesman stuffed me around. I rang him and said I want to buy it now, and he played funny buggers on the phone and said No I can't sell at that price... blah blah blah. I said to him I'm about to buy an Ibanez 105N in Melbourne if you can't help me. He thought i was bluffing. So I ordered the Ibanez. He rang me back 10 minutes later and said "Do you still want the guitar". I said No. I could have canceled the other one but I don't like smart arse salesmen. Especially when I've already spent good money there. I almost bought a Gibson acoustic off them about a year ago, they were flexible on price, I ended up getting a Breedlove instead

Gibson's are nice, really over priced here in Oz. I sold most of my Gibsons off 15 to 20 years or so ago for about $1000, now they are worth about 6 or 7 thousand.
I'd do my research first, not sure where you are coming from or why you'd buy in Australia. The dollar is worth nothing and Gibsons are so over priced. If it's for resale in a place where they are more expensive maybe it's ok, but if it's to play, I'd look for something else. I had a gold top Les Paul, best sound ever but they are pretty uncomfortable guitars and the market has changed so much. If I was to spend good money on electrics these days I'd be looking at the Taylors, Collings and Larivees, they are acoustic makers that have entered the electric scene. The PRS are great too. -
hey acousticguitarist, well im actually from Malaysia and believe it or not,u cannot find any Gibson here..big brands like Fenders,PRS,Ibanez are all over my place except Gibby..
Im craving for a Gibson SG since I saw its freakin cheaper in OZ..
1.3 Aussie Grand..if im ordering from my country, its triple the original price or even more or worse plus tax bla bla bla Lol .. Last time i checked the approximates price for SG Gibson is around 7 thousand man ! that was the price in my country..
i already got a Fender Telecaster..but my guitar list is keep on coming haha..bet i wanna try on a humbucker warm tone sound like..
thanx a bunch mates

have you found your guitar? if you are looking for a high quality guitar with a mid-ranged price... go for an Ibanez S470.. its a very versatile guitar.. suitable to almost any styles... it can do rock, metal, and as well as jazz!! I just bought mine last month and i was very satisfied.. But if you are a gibson fan, go for an Epiphone Lespaul Standard... Gibson owns Epiphone so the manufacturing process and the materials used is pretty much the same... And epiphones cost much-much less than gibsons (about 80% less!!!).. Its because its manufactured in their new factory china(not in the US where the labor cost is high).. Epiphone company is supervised by gibson staff... that's why you'll get Gibson quality!!!
P.S.... Epiphone also has SG models!!!
