What's up all, my name's Ted and I'm an intern at the new site Timelines.com. I've started a blog about my experiences working which you guys can check out as well at tedattimelines.tumblr.com, but I'm starting this discussion about the actual site. We're hoping to be sort of like the wikipedia of history, with all of the content generated by users and an explorational rather than informational focus. Eventually we're going to add a a feature to visualize the events related to a topic, and that's going to be really cool.

At this point, however, we don't have a lot of users and we don't have a lot of content. We're doing pretty well for about a month and a half's worth of work adding events, but it's a bit like trying to empty a lake one cup at a time. If anyone out there is interested in making a profile (free of course, and it takes 20 seconds) and taking the site for a spin, I'd love to hear what feedback you have or if you found anything particularly interesting. I'm really into politics, so I've been following the Iranian Election and trying to add events as they happen: (timelines.com/topics/2009-iranian-presidential-election).

Like every big, decentralized project, it's gonna take a lot of little acts by a lot of considerate people to get things going. If you have ten minutes and any topic that interests you, I implore you to make your mark on our project for user generated history.

Thanks again!

Oh, I forgot to mention, if you're adding content from your blog or another site you're managing, you can add your links to anything you create to boost your traffic as well!
