I care more about the fact that when Cindy McCain was asked if the differences between Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin outweighed the fact that they are both women, she said "No."

They really do think we are that stupid.
    1. Jeunelle
Yes I heard that too and laughed.
I mean one is a pitbull wearing lipstick or so she said.
    2. MadameX
Or maybe it's not that they think we're that stupid, but that they really ARE that stupid. Perhaps we all look alike to them.
    3. clioandme
Yep, you know, the little people.
    4. voodooKobra
      Are you serious? Wow.
    5. Anok
Yeah, she went on to make the claim that Palin's involvement with the PTA made for fine credentials and experience for running the country.

      LOL at Mark and Tiffany

While that's incredibly entertaining, there's absolutely no evidence that she BOUGHT any of the items she was wearing that night.

Do you know how many designers and jewelers would give their right arms to have one of these women wearing their clothing and jewelry?

It's the same with Hollywood. Do you think that actresses pay the extravagant prices of the clothing and jewelry they wear on the red carpet? Absolutely not! Those things are loaned to them. Why? Because as soon as they're seen wearing them, that designer's stock in the eyes of the American public skyrockets.

My goodness, just look at what Palin did for the sale of the eyeglasses she wore! On Monday, nobody knew who the heck she was. On Thursday, eyeglass stores across the nation were selling out of them!

Edited to add: The same thing happened with the dress that Michelle Obama wore when she co-hosted The View. She happened to mention where the dress was purchased, and the next day, that store sold out across the nation.

Edited again to add: I'll also point out that most of Hollywood is affiliated with the Democratic party, and most of them live extravagant lives that most of us can only dream about. Do you think THEY'RE in touch with the American people? But yet, the Democrats brag when such celebrities endorse Obama. Please.
    1. Jeunelle
Yup and calling them Palin Eyewear.
They are Kawasaki Eyeglases. Even David Letterman wears them.
  3. csiunatc
At least get it right.. the dress was 3 grand.. The earrings were the expensive part.

The part i love is this..

    Shoes (Designer UNknown) 600 dollars.

They have no clue what shoes they are.. but they know the price?

How's that for throwing a slight shadow of doubt about the accuracy on this report.
    1. Jeunelle
      @csuinatc...Yup that was hilarious.
    2. piodalcin
maybe there was a price tag but not the brand of shoes or the designer that is very possible
    3. kristilinauer
Or maybe they made it up because it makes for a good story. That's very possible.
  4. MadameX
Don't we all have bigger things to worry about, on both sides of the fence? I don't think anyone is surprised to learn that Cindy McCain is wealthy, or that she maintains a lifestyle that is out of reach for most people. How is this news?
    1. Jeunelle
@MX..It's not news to me I have them Politicians all the time in my shop with a black unlimited american express credit card.
Then after they charge the entire store they ask for a 5% discount.
I always think that is soo hilarious. I mean it's not like they are paying for any of it.
    2. MadameX
Jeunelle, you've hit on a real hot button for me. One of the things that makes me craziest in life is how the less I need help, the more perks are offered. Seems the more income I have and the more prestigious my position, the less I have to pay for things--meanwhile, my clients and students and others who are really struggling to get by have to pay full price because they aren't important enough to get a discount. I think I've lost a lot of blood vessels in my brain over this issue.
    3. Jeunelle
@MadameX...Yes that does seem to be the way the system runs. Absolutely senseless.

While the general trend comports with what I've heard in the standard media, I'd feel better about this article if I knew how they sourced it.
    1. csiunatc
The source is a guesstimate from the tower of quality journalism... Vanity Fair.

I know because it made the swedish news too, and they listed the source..

      www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/usavalet/konventen/article3262828.ab
It's in Swedish, but its there..
  6. polybore
Hmm I wonder where she got the money for that from...?
  7. Jeunelle
Cindy does seem to be dressing like she's a shoe-in for the 1st lady of the U.S.A In fact in her mind I bet she believes she is the white house. Oh Lord.
  8. kristilinauer
LOL...I also noticed that the article compared the cost of McCain's outfit to Michele and Barack Obama's combined income IN 2004.

Hmmmm...I wonder why they had to go back four years!!!

Could it be because they make MILLIONS of dollars a year now?? Yep! Barack alone made over $4 million just last year. In touch with the American public? I think not.

People will believe what they want to believe.
    1. AngieSS
"Barack alone made over $4 million just last year. In touch with the American public? I think not."

So, by this way of thinking McCain is really, really, really out of touch!
    2. kristilinauer
That may be true, Angie, but Cindy McCain isn't running for office. She's an independently wealthy woman--independent, i.e., her wealth did not come from her husband.
    3. piodalcin
That is why we have bush now... We need to wake up before we get stucked for another four years just because mc cain shows his pretty wife or just because he has a woman as a running mate..Obama could be both president and vice president...he has got what it takes to take down the people who madeour gasoline to be worth like gold
    4. kristilinauer
"That is why we have bush now."

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
    5. csiunatc
Yeah thats the kind of reporting I love..

Oh.. Obama made over 4 million dollars last year.

McCain was poverty stricken having absolutely no income for 16 years

(for most of the period between 1936 and 1952 i am pretty certain he had no income..)

So he was a minor.. Who cares if its comparative and relevant numbers.. as long as it sounds good..
  9. Jeunelle
Personally I don't think any of them McCain/Obama is in touch with the American public period. Opps my bad.
  10. piodalcin
    i agree 100%
  11. Jeunelle
@piodalcin...I spoke to a lot of black african americans who are happy to see a black man run for President and would be happy to see him elected but they also know that not much will be done to help the black communities once he gets to the White house if he does
and some may choose to just vote Republican. Thats the word on the streets but who knows what he'll do once he gets in office anyways. Hopefully it's a lot better than what Bush did.
    1. gmoney
      @Jeunelle
      missed ya girl!!!
  12. Jeunelle
    @gmoney...how's my mo ney?
    1. gmoney

  13. DaneMorgan
