To the McCain campaign, pointing out John McCain's many lies is the equivalent of "attacking" him. And of course what they often do at that point is bring up the fact that he was a POW, as McCain himself has started to do in answering questions that have nothing to do with that. An example: When asked to clarify how many homes he has (because he first said he didn't know) he said that he spent years without a home, without a kitchen table, etc. So they're lying, and then trying to deflect criticism of the lies by calling them "attacks" or trying to deflect attention by reminding people of the POW status. They're simply exploiting it for political gain.

It's pretty sad day for the media when the only tough questions come from the ladies of the view, lol.

There is a political discussin forum here ... just mentioning it in case you don't know about it ... it's not always well advertised.

      So true, Drowsey. Sad indeed.
  3. RenalFailure
She should be glad Sherri Shepard didn't ask John McCain about how he killed all those terrorists at Nakatomi Plaza as seen in the documentary Die Hard.

I think it's a strange sign of the times when politicians expect that the media shouldn't ask questions. Or only pre-approved ones.
    1. Anok
      Strange?

      Nah.

      Unsettling, maybe...but not strange.
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
Maybe I should have worded it "sign of our strange times."
    3. Anok
It's a sign of sumthin' alright

      Oi, don't get me started
    4. Jeunelle
I want to know how the heck they expect me to vote for them if they can't answer questions. I mean really who the hell do they think they are?
    5. Anok
The people in control, Juenelle. And that's why it's so disturbing.
    6. Jeunelle
Yes and what is even more disturbing is the fact that we appear weak, allowing them to have the power in the 1st place. We need to take back the power.

Because I personally can't stand anyone on that show except Whoopie I do view them as cackling hens but I am getting so tired of the truth all of a suddenly being equated with attacks.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
They do 'cackle' I can't handle that show...set women back 50 years as far as I'm concerned. All talking at the same time ... and not informed on the issues ... what a step down for Barbara and women in general.

Who cares what Cindy thinks? She's not running for office. Her husband is certainly experienced in the art of political attack and he has run a negatively focused attack campaign from the outset. So what did she expect? I say pass her a crying towel and send her off to cry her crocodile tears in one of her seven mansions.

P.S. I consider it to be a blessing that this TV show is not broadcast in my area. IMO we have far too much American political coverage on Canadian TV.
    1. melindaville
      Amen, sister!
    2. Anok
I think what Cindy McCain has said so far in interviews and the like shed some serious light on the McCain campaign.

I'm surprised he hasn't locked her in a closet yet.
    3. timethief
      @Anok
Shush ... she/they may not have caught on to that as yet. I hope every talk show host in the country schedules an interview with her.
    4. Anok
      /Whispers...me too!
    5. jan4insight
And don't forget, her darlin' hubby wanted her to enter that topless beauty contest at that biker rally a few weeks back~ what a couple of fine role-models they are:-P
  7. drjay1966
Cindy also thinks private plane is the only way anybody can get around in Arizona.
    1. timethief
The poor dear wee little rich thing. BOO HOO Her hubby, the old codger, who pretends he identifies with the common man got back what he gives.
    2. AmyWeber
      drjay1966, now that's funny.
    3. timethief
      Thank you.
  8. aningeniousname
Who is Cindy McCain? and why doesn't she holiday elsewhere if she don't like the view?
    1. timethief
She's the younger rich woman that the old codger married. You must recognize a decorative accessory that hangs from the arm of a nearly dead old guy when you see one, don't you?
    2. aningeniousname
Nope still lost, is this a desperate housewives thing?
    3. timethief
She's John McCain's wife. He's the old coot running for the Presidency. He mounted a nasty, negatively focused political campaign that someone has apparently flung back at him.
    4. timethief
Now you've got it. Ermm ... or maybe now I do ... lol
    5. timethief
Isn't it fascinating that Cindy has yet to become impregnated? Now that's really something to cry about if your are of his and her religious persuasion. I suppose it leaves her nothing better to do but to fly from mansion to mansion weeping about her husband's well deserved comeuppance.

Any friction at his age may spark a full investigation.

It may just be me but the vibe I get from her is one evil woman.
    1. timethief
      No kidding!
  10. Jeunelle
And another thing I am not voting for any candidate just because of their stupid POW credentials. I am voting based on what I think you can do for our current situation now.
I don't need to be constantly reminded of your water board episode.
I don't need to you keep waving your POW credentials in my face. Enough already.
    1. melindaville
EXACTLY! He was POW, which is unfortunate but it isn't as though that is any kind of real credential for being president.

I honestly think that McCain is showing signs of advanced age senility--and I know something about this (I am a biopsychologist). It's the only explanation I can think of for some of his weird behavior as of late.

God help us all if this senile old coot is elected. MY GOD--I just can't even bear the thought of it.

Please, U.S. PLEASE--can't we please learn from our past mistakes!!??
    2. poisonapplesauce
      "stupid POW credentials"?
  11. Jeunelle
Boy are you sooo right mtyler and I can't imagine that in this so called great nation we call America, these two are all the choices we had for Presidential Candidates.

I prefer Obama in office but even he will be unable to turn back the damage already done to this country. The Government is corrupt and needs a serious overhaul but to put someone strong enough in power to do this is the toughest job of them all.
It's the bloody corruption in this country that's ruining it and none of them is better suited for the job.
  12. RMania
What little I saw of it on the 24-hour news channels, I thought there were some great questions e.g. "What specifically are you going to reform? How?" Politicians are rarely pressed to back up their platitudes with specific details.

I only wish they did press Obama as hard even though they are on his side. Supporting a politician is no reason to stop being critical of them. Plus, it only lends support to the Republicans' assertion that the media is soft on Obama.

The View = Hell on Earth
  14. clioandme
Lemme get this straight. Our tough old warrior McCain has his wife do his fighting for him? Huh.
  15. jackpayne
What I couldn't uderstand is what was eating Ba-Ba Wa-Wa? She usually comes across as a more objective journalist than that. Of course, the year 2008 being the year journalism died, I guess it does figure. Maybe she was having a PMS attack or something.
