"The Pakistani army hasn’t given any details of mission objectives, but most people reckon that it is for now targeting Hakimullah Mehsud, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban who has declared war on the state, and a band of Uzbek fighters who have set up base there. There are no indications so far that it intends to take on other powerful militant leaders such as Hafiz Gul Bahadar, Mullah Nazir or the Haqqani network who are focused on Afghanistan"

I'm sorry that this doesn't compare to "mini-stonehenge" or the "balloon boy"

"Mini Stonehenge" and "Balloon Boy" are deadly serious! If either story should collapse into a state of anarchy, then what would happen to the nukes that both stories possess? I doubt that frivolous light news from India would put up with such a state of affairs for very long. The results could be a full blown escalation of soft news in Central Asia!

Is this getting much news coverage your side of the pond?
    5. Agit8r
idk, I haven't had the TV news on much. I'm sure PBS will cover it. It may be interesting to see how our "conservative" media outlets cover it.

Not watched any TV new today, but will be watching later on, will see what they have to say.

The effect this could have on our soldiers in Afghanistan is frightening.

well, it's actually our gov't that is pushing the Pakistani state to this offensive via conditions to a hefty aid package. The point is to reign in the anarchy in the border region. This being said, there seems to be the potential for an escalation or a broadening of the scope of the war, which should be of some concern, certaintly.

Pakistan is on the razor's edge. I don't see a good conclusion in that region in my lifetime.

Muhammad Bin Qasim finished the power of Dibal by droping their flag. People of Debal where attacking again and again even they had no weapon. Just like it Osama is their flag.

It is true that whole IAEA countries are our enemies. This hell is created by them. These countries can only fund them. They use Osama type of people.
