"The Pakistani army hasn’t given any details of mission objectives, but most people reckon that it is for now targeting Hakimullah Mehsud, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban who has declared war on the state, and a band of Uzbek fighters who have set up base there. There are no indications so far that it intends to take on other powerful militant leaders such as Hafiz Gul Bahadar, Mullah Nazir or the Haqqani network who are focused on Afghanistan"

"Mini Stonehenge" and "Balloon Boy" are deadly serious! If either story should collapse into a state of anarchy, then what would happen to the nukes that both stories possess? I doubt that frivolous light news from India would put up with such a state of affairs for very long. The results could be a full blown escalation of soft news in Central Asia!

well, it's actually our gov't that is pushing the Pakistani state to this offensive via conditions to a hefty aid package. The point is to reign in the anarchy in the border region. This being said, there seems to be the potential for an escalation or a broadening of the scope of the war, which should be of some concern, certaintly.
