How do you claim a blog on technorati? I've been trying forever and I've followed the steps and it still shows it's unclaimed.
I've talked to several others who can not claim their blogs either.

If I recall correctly all you need to do is upload some code and then return to Technorati and validate. Took me a few seconds, but that was nearly 2 years ago.
-
I think the easiest option they give you is to take their code and put it in a post and publish the post. Then, tell the technorati spider to crawl it after you get the code and have it published. It should find your site imediately and you'll have proved that it's your site. You can delete the post with the code right after that. All you need to do is say that you want to claim it, under your free account there first and choose that option, specifically.

That's weird, that's what I did. I put the widget in my blog. I thought it was just me, but a lot of people I talk to have the same problem.

Speaking of technorati....it seems to be having troubles, yet again
I just logged in to check my b log reactions and first, it couldn't find my blog - then it couldn't find my favorites, and finally it's saying I have no blog reactions (which is silly, I have a ton).
Meh, it is unreliable at best, which is why I don't use it that often. I also had trouble claiming my blog, but I don't remember what I did to fix it. -
hi all, I see this discussion started in June, now we are in August and when I try claiming my blog, I get the message : "There was a problem claiming your blog. Please try again in a few minutes. You can also go to Technorati Help for help claiming your blog." I've contacted them trough heir form, but I didn't even got the usual email saying that they got my message and they will get back to me.
Anyone any suggestion what to do? -
If you log in and go to www.technorati.com/account/blogs/ there is a section there where you can enter your blog info to claim it.

I've never had this problem. Here's the sign up page link. I just checked and it's working fine.
technorati.com/account/signup/
At the bottom of the form it has this:
___I agree to abide by Technorati's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
___I have a blog and would like to claim it now
Then click "Save Changes"
If you are already a member then you sign into your account and click username[edit] technorati.com/account/
You click the "blogs" tab
On the bottom of that page you find "Claim a Blog"
Claiming your blog establishes that you are its owner, and allows you to use Technorati services to increase your blog's visibility.
Then you enter the url _____________________
Blog URL Example: myblog.bloghost.com
Lastly, you click the "Begin Claim" button
I just checked it out and it's working for me. -
Thanks timethief for your kind help, but it doesn't work for me...
I know Internet users first blame the websites, before they would blame themselves if something doesn't work as expected, but it's not the case this time.
I'm just frustrated with the whole story...
PS: by the way, websites should work as their users expect it, its called usability. Technorati is failing big time, and it's not just because I can't claim my blog on it, but also because they have no clue how to implement a decent contact form...-
I recently claimed my blog on Technorati and had a very difficult time doing it. I had to try several times (over a period of days), and every time the site would become "unavailable" after completing a different step. The whole thing left me feeling less than confident in Technorati's reliability. A few hours might be understandable for something like this, but not several days.

I faced the same problem. I tried several time from the Technorati site after login but with no use. I finally successed to do it by the following:
1) Login to your mail where Technorati sent to you the activation link.
2) Click on the activation link and you will be forward to the Technorati account.
3) on the right side down, you will find sentence that your blog is not claimed and if you want to claim it.
4) press the sentence and enter your URL.
It should work and then all you have to do is to write your description about your blog, add button for Technorati on your blog and finally save the blog info.
I hope that help you. -
I have been having the same issues...i enter the blog url and get an error message so after 10 attempts I try to reach customer service and have had no response to 2 requests for assistance (nothing automated or personalized from Technorati). I even tried their support form but that page doesn't load. No wonder they are having layoffs.

I think Technorati having a issue with their site. Because it's just not a few people having trouble claiming blog. There sure a lot of people having that trouble. You can see in their forum discussion people posting this trouble. And guess what there are no administrator there. So it is positive that Technorati having a drown services.

My blog was successfully claimed on Technorati a few months ago. A few days ago the blog was magically unclaimed by itself. When I try to re-claim it, it tells me I'm already in the database but it does not show the blog in my profile, so I cannot ping it. This has been going on for a few days now. I emailed Technorati support but received no reply.
-
I am glad to notice I am not the only one having problems with getting my blog claimed. I have tried everything that you have mentioned above, so far no result. I contacted technorati over 10 days ago still no answer.
-
- Technorati recently moved their technical section to a new location. They have had server problems, and a whole succession of other difficulties that they are trying to identify and correct, and they have an enormous backlog.
My blog posts have not been updated for 30 days.

- BTW only one blog onecoolsite (a free hosted wordpress.com blog with pingomatic only post updating notification) has not been updating.
The other blog thistimethisspace (self hosted wordpress on my own domain with the ping url I have additionally inserted into in the template) is updating with every new post I publish.

If my understanding is correct, and Technorati only lists user-submitted blogs, then Technorati is the blog version of Alexa, and should be ignored.
-
Well met, Lissa. While I did find a link to my blog on Technorati, and it wasn't 'nofollow', I still don't see it in my Google Webmaster tools dashboard as a credited link.
So Technorati will continue on my list of "sites I should ignore but will continue to use anyway".
And I still maintain that Alexa ranking is irrelevant. Technorati's Pagerank, however, is quite high. -
Its 402 or redirect error or 400 that I'm getting from Technorati whenever I'm trying to claim my blog.
There's still no alternative T that I know of, so I don't know what to do about it.-

If the links above do not work for you then are you sure that there isn't a problem on your end? What country are you situated in? Are you behind a proxy server? Have you asked others in the same country using the same ISP if they can use the links and get through? Have you contacted your ISP?
I'm asking because the links work fine for me. I also notice that it clearly states on the mailing address contact information that contacting them by mail ought not to be done on "technical" issues.
Other Ways to Contact Us- Please keep in mind that the info below is not for technical assistance, if you have a technical question please visit our support site.

Ok, so let me describe it for you.
I tried to claim it at least a few times over the past couple of months and its always the same (except for "redirect error" thing, which I never saw earlier).
Today, I tried to see what's going on and it appears that Technorati bot simply stops at a certain point.
Then I'm getting either 402 or redirect error.
Is there any way to fix this? I tried to put posts in question into draft mode, but this doesn't change a thing and I'm still getting a 402/redirect error.
