Now that the series is over it is time for some reflection. I blogged about it in two sections. THe women: www.womanist-musings.com/2008/07/black-in-america-invisible-people.html and the men www.womanist-musings.com/2008/07/black-in-america-black-man.html Personally I felt that the series ignored large groups of people and pushed heteronormativity as the solution for all of the issues that plague the black community. It seems if you are GLBT you don't count as "black enough" to be included on a special about black people. Also where were the people living with disabilities? By creating these people as invisible it just increases their marginalization
