POINTSHAVERS.COM 09/17/08 - Last week on ESPN Thursday Night Football, North Carolina all purpose WR Brandon Tate showed a natinoal TV audience why he must be considered as one of the elite Wide Recievers in College Football. Last week Brandon Tate and the North Carolina Tarheels routed Rutgers by a final score of 44-12. In that game, Tate scored two touchdowns. He scored once on a 63 yard TD reception and next on a 12 yard end-around.

Tonight, Kansas St. QB Josh Freeman and the talented Kansas St. offense will get a chance to shine on ESPN in a natinoally televised game against the Louisville Cardinals at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.

Freeman has generated a lot of buzz after passing for 520 yards and 5 touchdowns in his first two games; but, we're not ready to hand over the Heisman just yet. Freeman's early season success has come against competition that has been mediocre at best -- Montana St. and North Texas.

We want to see more from Freeman...and tonight, you can bet that NFL scouts will be on hand to see what this guy is all about. More than likely he will be tested against a Louisville Defense that is much improved since last year under new Defensive Coach Ron English. Louisville's defense has only given up 300 yards of offense and 2 TDs all year; but, the problem has been the turnover margin. Louisville has already commited 7 turnovers this year in 2 games played.

So no matter how well Louisville's defense plays tonight, the Cardinals will not win this game if they continue to commit turnovers.

If Kansas St. gets ahead early, all of the pressure will fall on the Louisville defense and Cardinals Quarterback Hunter Cantrell who has already thrown 3 INTs this year.

Louisville will need to play a near flawless game on both sides of the ball to keep this one from getting out of hand. Maybe home field will give them the edge that they need; but, we've seen what they did last time they played in a big game at home...they lost to Kentucky 27-2.

Lousville has already shown us what they're about...so let's see if this Kansas State team is for real.

Take Kansas St. -3.5 (-110) vs Louisville Cardinals
