I prefer big cities. The largest city I've lived in is Istanbul, and I'd move back there in a heartbeat. Different sources say the population is between 12 and 15 million. There was so much to do there, and I loved all of the activity and people.

Smallest place I've lived was Albany, Oregon, with a population of 40,000. There was nothing to do there. I actually hated Oregon, but it was more because of the weather than anything.

There are pros and cons to both and our needs and interests shift, so both have suited me. I loved city life (London and Newcastle) or living near a big city (New York, Washington Dc), it was vibrant and exciting, always something to do and see. Right now I live in a village of 3,500 but it is like a mini mini New York or London, home of Antioch college, an old hippie village full to the brim of artists, writers, bohemians, etc etc. We have so much going on culturally, a movie theatre, bars, galleries, happenings, cafe's. We have one very famous person living in town who can hang out and be left alone by the locals. Amazing for a small village and as an artist I am in heaven.

I was born in the countryside in a small community and loved it. I've disliked city life ever since my family moved back to London. I prefer villages for daily life, and cities for adventure and night's out.

Excuse me while I just suck on another ear of corn and shake off my wellie boots!
