i took the time to filter MFA ads using google's competitive ad filter. i got the idea from John Chow and i got the lists of MFA sites from him too.

By the way, MFA stands for "Made for Adsense"..am still observing if i will get better adsense revenue now that i have filtered some low paying ads..

Have you used your adsense competitive ad filter? Did you see improvement in your earnings after taking advantage of this tool?

I have used the AdSense filter, very selectively, to block ads from sites which I thought might shock or offend some of my visitors. There aren't very many of those, happily.

i just used the filter the other day. it seems i got lower pay per click but it's too early to really tell. i will just observe for the whole week and see how effective this tool is.

Sorry for bringing this post back from the basement. I just thought it would be better than starting a new thread.

Some weeks ago I filtered out some ads I thought very unrelated to my blog topic, and what happens? AdSense sends me this automatic optimization report (after four months of no reports, so I must be doing something right): "You may be filtering ads that monetize well on your site."

Oops, what did I do? No wonder I didn't make much money in Decenber haha. Anyway, I took my sites out and used the MFA and LPC filter on www.adsblacklist.com to add 200 "unwanted" sites. We'll see what happens, and if my earnings increase :-)

I think I even added that list of sites mentioned on John Chow's blog into my ad competitive filter last spring April 2007 while I was during my busy season at work - and after 2 weeks I deleted it because I found that I was getting less clicks and less money. The pet related sites already have pretty much one of the lowest average rates out there for adsense, as there are so many sites.

The concept is good. People click on ads and it enhances the user experience if they click to useful sites and get information. For these .. I was getting between 7c and 20c a click. However, most people just come from searches anyway and aren't really my "users" and I figure - I'm the anti-made for adsense site that they come to first - .. and if I don't have the info .. I'm just replicating adsense ads that google would be displaying in their browser anyway, right? And, then the clicking went back up with higher rates .. Not that high mind you, but at least not that low as when I was using the ad filter.

I added that list 3 weeks ago, with no real earning change. I had added a few other sites I just thought were inappropriate for my content. I removed all but the few others I added yesterday to test out the next 3 weeks or so. We'll see what happens.

We've got to use it to keep our site "Nice". It only amounts to about a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger a day anyway.

Is that help any1 to increase their adsense earning? Since google do the job to clean up from fraud advertiser.. I don't think that may help for your blog. Am I wrong?
