Not that there really is a trend I was wondering if any bloggers were also cyclists, and if so could they offer some advice to a lazy chick who needs help purchasing a gift for a cyclist.

Someone close to me stated he wanted a single speed road bike with a coaster brake.... I only found one online (the local shops looked at me like I was slow and said that they did not exist). So I bought it, but had to put it together. I took it to one of the shops who laughed at me and they said "well it appears we were wrong, but you know schwinn is a chap brand right?" So then I got all self concious about the gift, cost me $400 but I don't know average costs and since it was the only one I had nothing to compare it to.

Do I still give it to him?
Would you be insulted if a clueless sort inadvertantly bought you a crappy gift (brandwise) even if it was all they could find?

    I am not a cyclist, but my sister is and I recently got her a gel seat which she loves.

    I was going to try it but I don't have the money for it. Those bikes are expensive.

    aww sorry ya'll I was editing...

    @cpritt, ooh a gel seat? I want a gel couch... how awesome would that be?

    @dbowles- ain't that the truth

      A gel couch would be awesome! But a gel seat for the bike prevents mega sore arse syndrome

      Something like this.

    Oh you added stuff, erm the people I know that are serious about cycling are total cycle snobs, but doesn't mean your friend is.

    If you've got a few grand laying around, you could get him an "inifinitely-geared" bike, instead. I'd definitely return the $400 Schwinn, if you can.
