    Hi there,
I'm not confused about links. I just thought I'd share a link to this excellent post in the official Blog Catalog blog written by Mark Stoneman. blog.blogcatalog.com/guest-blogger/do-you-link-to-your-sources/

I also have two posts on my blog that many readers hit on every day that may also be helpful to members reading this thread.
How to select and use anchor text effectively

Deep link posts: Bring your readers back again and again

I hope this helps. Happy blogging.

thank you very much. I wrote my post because I used to be confused and was asking around and someone asked me that when I knew what they were I would let him know, so I kept my promise.

its a really good article...i might add it to the end of my post.

If you do that then using only a brief excerpt and linking to the remainder is the way to go.

ahhhh just been on your profile...you are clearly much more fluent in blogging tech that the mere simple I!

Yes. I would have quizzed you on your linking too - because you're obviously not that good at it..

      check out my new post!

Your front blog page is not the URL of your post.

well i wouldnt be would I having only been blogging for less than a week.

Also...as I said in my post i was not aiming at those fluent in all things wonderful and blogging like you, I was trying to be a simple as possible for the people who would have been totally boggled by the stuff you geniuses are likely to come out with.

      @sharpodue ..

I was trying to be a simple as possible for the people who would have been totally boggled by the stuff you geniuses are likely to come out with.

You are not being simple - you are making things more complicated for people - hence the suggestions.

For instance .. if you talk about this post:
      sharpodue.blogspot.com/2008/09/at-end-of-daycliches-are-annoying.html

don't link to sharpodue.blogspot.com and hope we can find it. It's the last post today. Next month it will be a nightmare to find your post.

That's good advice for sure. Only use specific links so your readers can readily locate your posts, and pass the correct url on to others, and so the posts can also be easily found after they fall off the front page.
