Yes yes yes, I know, this is a self-promotion post!
BUT, since it's "shameless" self-promotion, I thought i could go ahead and post it!
In fact I would really really like to have your feedback / input.
Here's the post:

You can see this as an experiment / survey.
I won't tell you more, just go and read the post, and leave a comment (or on here if you want)
Thanx

# What is it that makes you want to reply to a post on a blog?
**When I find something that makes sense and can enrich me in someways.
# How do you get readers to comment on your posts?
**I suppose when they find something that makes sense to them or touch them in someways :)Although I do want feedback but I will not simply just post something controversial to get comments. Sensibleness and soundness of mind is very much appreciated by me.
# How do you engage in discussions?
**I join forums or discussions like in Blog Catalog.
# Do you like it when people discuss you post, without you getting involved in the discussion, just letting people chat/talk with each other?
**I would like to get involve.
# What do you think of nice post comments?
**Appreciated and if they give more reasons, all the more better. -
What is it that makes you want to reply to a post on a blog?
- Extreme interest. Not medium, not even low. I should be really interested in the post that I want to join in the conversation.
How do you get readers to comment on your posts?
- Aside from the very interesting post, end with an interrogative sentence or persuade them to suggest something.
How do you engage in discussions?
- Stay as close to the topic as I can.
- Avoid hijacking threads/topics.
- Ignore trolls.
Do you like it when people discuss your post, without you getting involved in the discussion, just letting people chat/talk with each other?
- Partly, it's like getting nominated without you knowing it. Nonetheless, it's still an honor. Haha! But I always wanna get involved in the discussion (especially if I started it).
What do you think of nice post comments?
- I consider one-liners as immature, thus they don't deserve to be posted.
- One-liners, spam, trolls, noobz... they're all alike.-
Sure! I just want to share to you what I observed from molly.com. I think she uses a form of conversational blogging too. In one of her posts, she used an image and a 2-sentence paragraph and then let her readers "fill in the blanks".

What is it that makes you want to reply to a post on a blog?
If it's something that makes me laugh outloud, think really hard or in some way something I can really relate to I am inclined to leave a reply.
How do you get readers to comment on your posts?
Still working on this. For a while I had my settings so that I couldn't get comments unless a user was registered and I didn't even know it! So I've fixed that but still getting almost 0 comments
If youre reading through RSS, what makes you wanna click on the link and visit the blog to comment?
I don't read through RSS.

Hmmmm.... I'd like to read other replies to this question.

I would like it but would probably get involved in the discussion as well.
What do you think of nice post comments?
When I see these I wonder why the person even bothered posting. Although since I get no comments, really any would be appreciated at this point. -
# What is it that makes you want to reply to a post on a blog?

# If youre reading through RSS, what makes you wanna click on the link and visit the blog to comment?
-> Point of interest and the 'read more' link.
# How do you engage in discussions?
-> Give my opinion, ask, ask more, .... But a discussion has to end.

# What do you think of nice post comments?

I have been thinking of exactly the same thing for weeks, How to get people to comment and participate? .
I had mixed results, some post were great but comments usually stop around 4 or 5. So I would say I still had alot to improve. So far as I can see, people left comments because they felt something for my post.
I usually leave comments when I have something to share or I learn something and would like to say Thank You. I just updated my site to join the D-List movement and wanted to reward and encourage more readers to participate and comment.
Blogs with no comments are like a one-sided conversation, so boring
Thanks for provoking our thoughts! -
What is it that makes you want to reply to a post on a blog?
-I am into the subject matter that they write about.
How do you get readers to comment on your posts?
-I ask a question at the end of everyone of my posts on pointlessbanter.net, people love to talk about themselves so I give them opportunity. When I was on MySpace I would have blogs with 300+ comments. I also make sure to respond to comments.
How do you engage in discussions?
-Reply in a timely fashion, be witty.
Do you like it when people discuss your post, without you getting involved in the discussion, just letting people chat/talk with each other?
-I am used to my blogs turning into a chat room that gets away from the topic.
What do you think of nice post comments?
-Annoying, but I don't seem to really get them anymore.
