i think we have to make an underground movement... kidnap all the corrupts, slaughter them and build a better healthier organization in government...

i don't know what to say actually, that is my BF opinion... perhaps if the government can create a prosperity environment in a country, it can decrease corruption, poverty, etc...

I thought your post was contradictory. Good, I am glad to see we are in agreement. I work with the Mayan poor in Guatemala and see the ravages of oppression all the time...The poor are the slaves of the affluent and much of the affluent have little desire or interest to educate or train the poor for anything but servitude, farming, or caretakers for their property.

Let me rephrase what I said in the first paragraph. It should not be disagreeing to what you said but instead "agreeing" to it. So instead of "disagree" please take it as "agree"

So you think the cause of poverty is external? Outside of man's heart? You seem to be saying that poverty is the culprit - and if there was no poverty there'd be no corruption?

I disagree. Do you not see the wealthy steal and commit other heinous acts of corruption? I do.

Have you read "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" by John Perkins? I highly recommend it. The poor are often VICTIMS of corruption at the hands of the wealthy. The poor are NOT the cause of corruption.

I disagree to what you said that "poverty has nothing to do with the origins of corruption"

Because of corruption most of the intended funds to improve the economy has been malused. Take for example if there is a project to build facilities for learning, corrupt project officials would demand contractors for a kickback for awarding them the contract. Of course this transaction is done under the table. The contractor would then charge the institution (or government) hidden costs for the materials and labour just to accommodate the additional kickback cost the corrupt official is demanding.

So what is the consequence of this malpractice? The cost to upgrade the facilities that will help boost the economy is "downgraded". The institution could have own "top of the line"(in more quantity) facilities for the country to develop quickly.

Its ridiculous, there are some country part where they cant even afford to build school buildings because of the expensive cost to build one. It has become expensive because the corrupt culture is already eminent as though it is expected already as part of the whole project financing. With no schools in the area, most children grow up un-educated, un-skilled, un-marketable and un-able to make a decent income. Their children will suffer the same as the parents have grown without education.

Corruption is not economic specific. Poverty has nothing to do with the origins of corruption. The very wealthy are often the worst offenders of corruption. Often the rich steal from the poor (land, labor, etc) creating greater economic disparity.

Corruption is in the heart of a person who has no moral scruples.

I'd say they are not related some like monks are notioriously hard to corrupt.

Many rich like John Edwards who takes 50,000 to talk about poverty I would say are.

Many poor are corrupt some would get welfare at several addresses rather than getting a job.

Tough for me to put a finger on.

Are you saying you are a corrupt person? I hope not.

Corruptors foolishly think that there is real benefit with it. Why be the wealthiest of the neighborhood if the neighborhood would turn into crime because of poverty? The corruptor will then not enjoy his life, always living in fear and paranoia. So why make an expensive house only to serve as your prison? So why rob money only to cause you an uncomfortable and unsafe society?

Corruptors can only see short term enjoyment. Shallow.

Why not encourage a society that is honest, safe, peaceful and prosperous, even to our next children?
