I was listening to the radio earlier and I actually had to change the station, the lyrics of the song irritated me so badly. The lead singer kept singing:

"What don't kill ya
Make ya more strong."

Anyone else know of particularly bad lyrics that you want to share?

Interesting. Someone just told me I should think about this title for my book, "What Doesn't Kill"

    (makes you strong).

Most people don't listen to the lyrics as John Popper pointed out in his song "Hook". Many people thought that it was a love song. The song was actually about people not listening to the lyrics and making assumptions that it's a love song. He was right on the money

Some people thought that song, "Every breath you take" (police) was a love song too--but it was just about the opposite--about a stalker.

Mike: I didn't know that! I never understood what the heck he was saying. I just looked up the lyrics... too funny

"Every breath you take" would be one creepy love song

Agreed--but Sting said that many people thought it was a love song.

I've heard people say they wanted to use that song for their first wedding dance. That always made me laugh.

Brad Paisley's "I Want To Check You For Ticks" is kind of lame.
    1. melindaville
      That sounds very lame!
    2. RTBjr73
The name Brad Paisley's sounds lame in the first place.

Lyrics that eternally amuse me- courtesy of Mr. Neil Diamond...

    "'I am,' I said
    To no one there
And no one heard at all
    Not even the chair."

    Not EVEN the chair...

If the man was expecting the possibility of a chat with his recliner? I'm sorry to say poor Mr. Diamond needs a therapist to talk to, as well.

ROTFL I forgot about the nigh-immortal Mr. Diamond. Let's see, Diamond, Paisley, and other lame names with bad lyrics?

No way! Stickshifts and Safety Belts is a classic.

      "Stickshifts and safety belts
And bucket seats have all got to go
When we're driving in the car
They make my baby seem so far
I need you here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat..."

Pure poetry! Okay, so I'd agree with you on every other song of theirs that I've heard, but I like this one.

My niece had a song about shoes on her ipod www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCF3ywukQYA It was enough to make me want to ram my head into the wall.

I'm at work, is that the song sung by a crossdresser?
    2. Anok
      That song fascinates me LOL

Think about it, it's a reflection of society at this moment in time. And it's eerily accurate....

(OK, the lyrics suck, but the video was funny as hell - I mean, a guy in a purple bodysuit and cape? You can't beat that!)
    3. Shiley
      Yes. AGGGGG! Pounding my head!!!!!

Can't say it facinates me I grew up watching the guy in the body suit that had body organs. AGGGGG!

      Slim Goodbody?

Edited to add: W.T.F. There was so much wrongness in that Shoes video. And those $300 shoes were hideous!
    5. ThriftShopRomantic
Shirley- MR GOODBODY, right? I totally forgot about him. What was he on?
    6. Shiley
Yes! PBS I couldn't remember his name but the image is ingrained.
    7. legbamel
It was the 80s. I vote, "Coke."
