FAITH! Get outta my head girl!! I was JUST having this discussion with my boss the other day. I say Cream of Wheat, because...well it's creamy. Oatmeal turns into paste if you take your eyes off of it for a second.
I like the Maple Brown Sugar flavor...mmmmmm!! -

Neither. I detest cereal, especially hot cereal.
An English muffin and a glass of juice does me just fine. -
oatmeal is better if i have to make a choice, but I prefer coffee and cigarettes for breakfast. Lunch and dinner too.

Depends on my mood. I do love cream of wheat, but oatmeal with cinnamon, cardamom, raisins, milk and a dash of maple syrup is pretty awesome. Grits with pepper may be my favorite though.

I've never liked cream of wheat. so, if have only the choice between the two then I choose oatmeal. If the choices were broader I would choose homemade muesli or sunnyboy cereal

I haven't been able to get into cream of wheat. It may be the texture. I do like oatmeal, if I'm having hot cereal.

My family *loves* Cream of Wheat with just a little maple syrup stirred in.
Oatmeal with raisins, butter, and a smidge of honey is also fantastic. (But absolutely second place.) My mum has hers with brown sugar and pecans stirred in. That's another yummy one.
I hear you about starting cold days off with something warm to eat. It just makes you feel cozy. -
My husband's favourite dessert is a thing called soji (pronounced "SOH-gee") and it is made with cream of wheat. You can find a pretty authentic recipe here: en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Cookbook:Soji

I have never heard of cream of wheat, I have porridge in winter which I would guess is the same stuff as oatmeal.

LOL, true it isn't visually appealing but once you get past the creamy white pasty substance it's quite tasty actually. Some people like it sweet (that would be me) and others like it tart. It all depends on your tastebuds really.
To be honest I've never tasted it w/o sugar & butter so it's like a buttery sugary warm heaven. I don't know how to explain it I'm sure I'm really ruining it. -
Anin...I'm American and I can't stand sweet syrup on bacon or sausage and I, too, detest grits (a feature of Southern breakfasts...the rest of the country doesn't have them). My idea of a traditional American breakfast is eggs, bacon or sausage, fried potatoes, juice, and the sweet is toast and jam on the side.

@sweetviolet, funny I've never seen wallpaper paste as one of the options for breakfast at the 24hr diner. LOL
Oh and side note you can get grits up north I don't live below the mason dixon and I see it on tons of menus for
breakfast.
@anin, I am googling black pudding I will be back, it sounds interesting.

I like them both, but if I must choose only 1, then I guess it will have to beeeeeeee......damn! this is a hard question to answer...brb. let me go make both of them and see which one I like better.....*clock ticking*...tick tock, tick tock, tick tock....ok, I"m back, and the winner is..........Oatmeal! cuz it's the healthy heart choice...lol

@seaglass - Malt-o-meal is made in the town where I work. It's funny to get to work and be surrounded by the smell of cereal all day long (they also make cold cereals, too), but it sure beats the days when the wind blows in from the turkey farms. I don't mind Malt-o-meal, but it doesn't hold up to Cream of Wheat.

I've never heard of that, "hot cereal"?! Why would you want it hot? If it's hot, it's not cereal, it's porridge.
Anyway, given the choices, there's nothing that would beat oats! Love oats. Love love love! -
Oatmeal with sliced banana or dried cranberries, at least 5 days a week.
Used to like Wheatena, but haven't had it for years and years. -
