The somewhat attractive, Tyler Perry, had discussed with his fans his experiences with being sexually abused as a child on his website. I had thought about a post that I had did recently on homosexuality in which I had discussed the likelihood that we all know someone/people who was/were a victim(s) of a sexual predator via abuse, molestation, bullying. I had discussed the parameters of the experiences by frequencies of the sexual attacks and the impact that they have on the victim(s) and how well the victim(s) cope and manage a normal life.
In my observation, the outcomes are nearly the same with so few managing to go on and live normally as much as productively.
Take the music icon, Carlos Santana, for example, he was molested by a man as a child and managed to live a seemingly productive life by channeling his experiences through his music and becoming one of the most successful musicians ever to grace us with his talents by playing a guitar effortlessly. He has even went as far as having a successful marriage with a woman and having a family.
Although Tyler Perry has managed to move on and live an equally 'seemingly' productive life, he has yet to marry let alone have a family and doesn't quite come across as having a normal life.
Not saying that he didn't handle it very well, but he did claim that God helped him through but at what instance did he put God to the side to really get through his ordeal? or did he?
Exit Tyler, Enter Madea.
Speaking of which, another noteworthy actor who has done what Tyler Perry is doing now in the past, and on occasions, is Martin Lawrence.
Maybe he has something that he would like to share with his fans via his website, assuming he has one, as well. Perhaps when he has another movie coming out to promote.
Another case of Exit Martin, Enter Big Momma.
Another noteworthy celebrity powerhouse is Tom Hanks. Remember the show,Bosom Buddies? If not, that was where he got his start in show biz by being portrayed as a woman and might I add, he seemed rather comfortable in the role. Just saying, maybe there is something that he would like to share as well -- eventually.
Perhaps entertainment conditions us to accept things that are not of our nature. In this case, sending the message that it is alright to resort to emasculating men or have men to come across as such.
Perhaps entertainment is making it quite clear of what it takes to get ahead in the industry. If you are a man, put your manhood to the side for the sake of making it big.
Could it be possible that when the media broadcast this type of entertainment that it is a large part of the reason why people, for the most part, are accepting of men becoming effeminate? Is it that guise known as metro-sexual? how does such effeminate characterization of men affect the parameters of holding normal man-woman relationships? Is it just me, or has entertainment or the media condition men for the most part to embrace their feminine side either to get ahead in life or to be open for exploring other lifestyle options?
