My blog right now is myurl. blogspot. com

I've been thinking about getting a custom domain. It would basically just drop the
blogspot. com from my current url.

I can change to a custom domain for $10 per year through my blogger dashboard. Blogspot (google) has made it clear that the domain would be registered through a Google partner (go daddy) and that Google/Go Daddy will redirect myurl. blogspot. com to myurl. com. So I'm not to worried about loosing readers or people not being able to find me etc.

What worries me is what changing to myurl. com would do to my feedburner account. I don't want to loose my feed, nor do I want to loose readers/subscribers. What would changing to a custom domain do to feedburner?

I've done some prep for the change. I've changed my blogs title to reflect my current url better, and thus will be better suit me for a custom domain... I'm just scared to take the actually dive...just because I do have some unanswered questions....

About feeds? followers? Page Ranking?

You just need to put the new rss feed address in feedburner and keep the feedburner url the same. You can change the feedburner URL to whatever you want regardless of what your blog's rss feed address is.

the concern with changing from a blogspot url to a custom url is not with regular readers being able to find you, but with backlinks and google page rank. if you have spent a lot of time and energy getting lots of good back links and building up your PR, you will lose that when you make the switch. If that is not a major concern for you, then go ahead and switch. I changed to a customer URL and dumped blogspot for hosted wordpress ages ago and never regretted the move, but it is important to understand what will and won't change as a result of doing this.

If you create a customised url, blogger will still redirect visitors to your new address. However, this is not seamlessly as you are presented with blogger redirect screen asking the visitor if they wish to be redirected.

Why not go for Wordpress when the sun is shining
