I saw a letter in a newspaper where the writer suggested that to cut down on costs the athletes at the 2012 London Olympics could do their sports naked, like they did in ancient Greece.

Aside from our unpredictable (or predictable i.e. usually rain) weather this idea quite appeals! What do you think?

In ancient Greece only men competed and only men were allowed to watch.

    Hum, well times change...

But the British haven't. We have a laugh over here in Germany at how they cover themselves up in saunas.

Well I'm British and you're right I do cover myself up in the sauna because I don't feel comfortable being leered at by hairy middle aged German men, hairy middle aged German women I wouldn't mind so much.

Well, it would sort the men from the boys, literally.

Absolutely not. Naked posing is fine. The human body is an art form. In action ... the body needs clothing, especially for all of the gymnastics and jumping about.

Yeah, but what about the swimming? What is it about German's and lack of modesty- got to see it all in Fuerteventura once, not pretty!

are you telling me there's a chance I might see Xue Chen in all of her glory in 2012? I'm all for this. Where do we sign the petition?

That's an idea - a petition! I think there might have to be special exceptions for certain games, cycling for instance might not be too comfortable and they might get sore bottoms.

    Bit predictable VooDoo!

Why would they want to cut down on costs? And who's costs? The athlete's uniforms are already paid for.

I think they should bring pankration back myself.

It's a pipe dream for people who want to see some guy's dick flop around on live TV.

I used to fight in pankration tournaments. You DO NOT want to do or see people do that naked.

What is a pankration tournament? Sounds fascinating.

These days they call it mixed martial arts (MMA) but in modern pankration the rules are a little different (like wearing gloves and not fighting to the death)

There has been a bit of talk about the cost of the Olympics and how much money would be available. I think the general idea of the letter I saw was saying a lot of money gets lavished on particularly the opening ceremony and how we could save money. You say the athletes uniforms are already paid for - by who?
    1. voodooKobra
      Their sponsors.
    2. dlowe
Sponsors - Quick draw voo doo. LOL!
  14. myriadlife
Well all the money saved on uniforms could go to charity. What's wrong with naked martial arts? Quite like the sound of it myself. Wrestlers don't wear much and it's not that different is it:) only joking!!

Good job Sam Kinnison is not an athlete, he's pretty ugly dressed.
