Hi ladies: Got baby phat??

Since gaining 30lbs after baby Jordan, I can no longer fit in my size 6 jeans...

I've decided that instead of shopping for a whole new wardrobe to fit my sexy J-LO hiney in a size 13 pants, I'm going to joing "Mamma on a mission" and lose the baby phat!

I want to lose 30 Lbs....How much would you like to lose and what size jeans are you aiming for?

I'm not a mommy (well actually I'm a bloke) but I just want to wish the best of luck, thats a big target you've got, keep us posted here.

Thanks Carlgalloway! I will keep you posted. I've got till july to get my bikini body back! Will post some pics on my blog to show my progress!

Hmm. I wouldn't lose 30 lbs just because my man was dissatisfied with my looks after having HIS child. It takes two to make a baby. =) Still, best of luck to you.
    1. Medgirleve
LOL!! Well, actually, I'm dissatisfied with me.. not my man. He's got some weight to lose himself. This is a joint effort. He just wants me to be happy and have more energy to do the things we like to do together if you know what I mean!

    I wouldn't mind losing 5 lbs. I've gotten a little lazy about walking/running lately. I'm a 7 and would like to be back in a 6.
    1. Medgirleve
If you're a mom, you know it's almost impossible to do a 30 min workout much less a 60 min work out, so speaking of walking, I just came back from a walk around the lake with the stroller and my favorite Work out tunes..boy they pump you up! Good luck on your 5 lbs..
    2. calais50
Thanks Med. Your workout sounds like fun.

I want to lose 9 poounds. I'm 45 and I would like to be 25.
    1. Medgirleve
LOL! My favorite year was when I turned 24, I wish I was that age again.. For now I am just trying to look like one! Nine pounds is very doable.. Good Goal! Will you join the effort???

I'm 50 pounds overweigh, but I am going back to my original weight...25 pounds overweight.

    ;-)
    1. Medgirleve
I feel ya! I was 30 overweight when I got pregnant so, I understand the goal I am trying to keep it realistic and take it one day a time. Maybe we can cheer each other on. I joined "Mama on a mission" another blogger who puts me to shame! I've got her on my neighborhood if you want to check her out!

In all seriousness, both my wife and I work out at the gym regularly now.

she has been for 3 months, myself for one month, after a two year layoff, when our youngest was born. Luckily we both work the day shift, so she goes right after work. Since I do not sleep more than 4 hours a night, I go after the kids go to bed.

To Medgirleve, my wife as ALWAYS had a sexy back (trust me). Although one of the reasons we are back in the gym is to lose fat/inches, the number one reason by far is to be healthy and set a good example for our kids.

RTBjr73: That is one of the reasons why my hubby and I decided to lose the beer belly and the baby phat. Both he and I were very active at the gym before the baby. I had a back injury so I couldn't work as a Paramedic anymore. When I got pregnant it got worse and he just kinda felt guilty to leave me home alone while he went to work out.

Now that the baby is getting a little better at sleeping and such, we both want to get back to our sexy shape and have the energy we used to in order to have more outdoor activities with the kids. I don't want my son to grow up embarrassed of mommy cause she is a little butterball he he!

Buddy, I hear you. I have a slipped disk, a partially blown knee, and a big toe with no cartilage/joint left. (Don't let your kid/kids play catcher in baseball for 20 years like I did). But I have never missed a day of work or an activity with the kids, so I refuse to get cut open until I can not walk anymore.

All of us are into sports. My wife and I still play sports, but as we get older, for some reason it is just not enough. That's one reson why we went back.

We are in the same boat also of not wanting our kids to think that we can't get out there and "mix it up" on the playground also as they grow. My bio-mom was useless by the time I hit 5 years old. She had back surgery when she was a kid, but didn't rehab her back like the doctor told her to, so she wasted away. My wife's mom almost died in her ealry to mid forties, from smoking like a freight train and not going to a doctor for twenty years. She is full blown diabetic, and it has affected her eye sight. She a little over 50 now, and I have never seen her play around in the back yard with the grand kids.

My wife and I have come to the conclusion that it is just plain stupid to pass that type of behavior onto our kids.

Don't get me wrong guys, my hubby makes me feel like the sexiest mama alive. I just don't feel I have the energy I used to to do the things for him that I wanna do. He just wants me to be happy with myself. I've always been a fitness junkie and I don't wanna become complacent.

My son deserves a healthy mom and so does my hubby

I have always been slender, however, I gained 80lbs when I was pregnant with my son. I just went back to eating the way I always did before, and you would be surprises how quickly you go back to your normal weight. Sodas diet or not, are a killer. So if you drink those, stop.
    1. Medgirleve
You are absolutely right! When I was pregnant in order to subside my nausea I was drinking those "natural sodas" (Hensen I think) and when I went in for my second check up, I'd gained 25 lbs!!!. After that, all I drink is water and skim milk.

I saw a documentary where they took a bunch of kids to see if they would drink a a cup of water with 27 packets of sugar which was equivalent to the amount of sugar in a soda can!! yeaks!!

not me. happy the way i am
    1. Medgirleve
As long as you are happy and healthy, that's all it matters

    RTBjr73:

I understand where you're coming from. The orthopedic surgeon I was assigned to wouldn't take me seriously because I didn't want to get cut open. Then I went to a pain management specialist, he and I are under the understanding that surgery is not an option unless I can't walk.

I have high pain tolerance and refuse to take the pain killers they prescribe because I'm breastfeeding. Even if I wasn't, I don't want to walk around doped up when my son wants to play or my hubby wants to spend time together.

As a Paramedic I transported hundreds of people who had given up on their life, their children and themselves weighing over 400 lbs.. Kids neglected, daily trips to the ER. I refuse to live that way!
    1. RTBjr73
Honestly, that is a sick way to live. I'm no health nut. But I am a nut when I get to play with the kiddos.

Plus, I always tell my wife I am going to live until I am 110 years old and get shot by a jealous husband. ;-)

    AWESOME for you!

I lost 35#’s last year having gone through some changes in my life. I did it by drinking LOTS of water and grabbing some DVD’s:

    “10 Minute Solution” – it’s Pilates
    “Belly Twins” – Belly dancing

I’m not into humiliation, especially my own, so I exercise 10 minutes a day every day at home. I knew I’d get burned out on exercising if I did more than that. Within 21 days it became a habit. It also helps to use “muscle confusion.”

As for one getting older and worrying about the wrinkles, when I date I only date taller men. That’s easy cuz I’m only 5’1.” That way one does have to worry about the gravitational pull so much, because if a person is looking up all the time then it pulls the facial muscles into a nice place. Make sense?

Christinebean: That is a great idea! I just need to make my working out a habit again. It's been real hard to do cause of the baby. But I don't want to use him as an excuse to be lazy.. So I'll try your routine..I can definitely afford 10 mins a day! Thanks for the other suggestions..Water, I can do!!
  13. momscrazylife
It's all good here, but I wish you the best of luck.
    1. Medgirleve
Thanks You look great in your avatar anyway!!
  14. Medgirleve
RTBjr73: LOL!! that's too funny.. Every time my hubby reaches for the candy and junk food, I threaten him that I'm going to gain 300 lbs so I can die before him...I wouldn't want him to go before me if he develops Diabetes! Not meant to be morbid, but it's a fun little game we have!

I just want us to grow old together!!!
  15. christinebean
Yes, I thought 10 minutes was doable for me too. Use Jordan as a motivator too. You're wanting to get into shape so you can be around to see all the wonderful things he does and accomplishes in the future!

I know you can do it!

    Blessings,

Thanks Christine! I use him as my weight.. I set him on my legs and do leg lifts with him.. He loves it, he has fun and I get sore!
    2. christinebean
What a great idea! Have him help you out and make him smile at the same time...see, you're on your way!

I'd like to lose about 15lbs. It seems these last few are always the hardest. I'm about to pack up and move across the country, back to where I'm from. I don't want to go home after all this time with this little bit of weight on me, but I only have 33 days to shed it. We'll see I guess.
    1. Medgirleve
33 days and 15lbs is very doable.. that's a little over a pound a day.. If you've hit a plateau.. maybe try changing your cardio workout a little bit...or try not resting between sets..saves time and most of all gives your muscles an explosive boost!! Good luck on your move..Where to?
  17. liftingmyvoyce
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try the not resting part. We're moving from Kodiak, Alaska to Hampton, Virginia....very long drive but looking forward to it. I miss sundresses.
    1. Medgirleve
Wow, that is a long drive!! Be a fun road trip for the fam I bet Good luck on your move! Maybe you can post some pics of your drive ( I'd like to go on a trip vicariously through you Sun dresses is a good motivation to lose those last few pounds..

I have gotten back to lower than my prepregnancy weight, my baby is 10 months old. It does take awhile though, don't get discouraged. Keep breastfeeding as long as you can, burns 500 to 700 calories a day. I also agree with doing even 10 minutes of exercise a day. Also try thedailyplate.com for tracking your calories. I wrote a post on quick exercises to do throughout your day if you are a busy mom: www.thisismayjah.com/2008/04/ten-quick-bikini-countdown-exercises.html

    You can do it!
    1. Medgirleve
HI Mayjah! thanks for the link! I will definitely check it out! As for breastfeeding..I'm down to only two to three feedings a day.. maybe I can get at least a 200-300 calorie loss with that. I will check out your post, I can use all the help I can get.. It would also help to put your link on my blog for other readers
    2. Medgirleve
Just read your post!! Loved it..couldn't find where to leave a comment though?? Will add that link to my next post. I think those tips are so easy to incorporate into your daily activities

      Hi everyone!

Looks like a lot of us have experienced weight gain, because of pregnancy. Just thought I've share a recent post I made, "35 symptoms of menopause." From what I've read it won't be much different than pregnancy was.

      Enjoy...

      And enjoy this one too...

Yup, I was a size 4 before I got pregnant and had a baby girl April 1st. I am still trying to lose the baby weight.. I thought I would bounce right back after my pregnancy but that hasn't been the case. I gained 60 lbs and looking to lose the last 30
    1. Medgirleve
Size 4??!! You are tiny!! I gained 60 lbs on top of the 30 I had already added before the pregnancy.. I grew to a nice and sexy 190 lbs during my pregnancy.. I was huge!!! Now I'm down to 160 and would also like to lose those last 30 lbs.

Join the effort?? It would be nice to track each others progress

    When I was 20 I weighed 185 pounds. Sixty years later I weigh 185 pounds. Guess I don't have a weight problem.
