So I am not a fan of MTV, don't watch it, don't care to BUT I have a deep seeded disgust of Kanye West so when facebook blew up with outrage over his latest stunt where he crashed some country singers acceptance speech I just had to look.

Here is what happened: www.tmz.com/2009/09/13/ultra-d-bag-kanye-hijacks-taylor-swift/

Now my questions are these

1. if a person is a notorious racist does it make his bahaviour racist? *I threw that in because a lot of people keep mentioning it

2. Should he be banned from MTV since this is at least the 2nd time he's acted like a psycho?

3. What do you think of this? Are "musicians" immune from having to behave with class?

4. Is this just another "there is no such thing as bad publicity" stunt

I am filled with contempt for this excuse for a human being. Therefore, I'm not going to say any more because if I do let go here there will be a "comment deleted by the community".
    1. ArsenicCookies
I understand exactly what you mean, I had to word it and reword it very carefully to avoid deletion myself...
    2. timethief
What a racist a$$hole! Too bad the audience weren't equipped with rotten tomatoes and rotten duck eggs. No musicians are not immune from being expected to behave with class and good manners in public places -- we expect that of all adults.
Yes! that _______ should be banned.

BTW IMO Taylor Swift's fresh faced video was by far better than Beyonce's. Beyonce is old news.
    3. ArsenicCookies
I completely agree. I am not too fond of Beyonce, but from what I hear she later pulled the Taylor chick back on stage to finish her speech
    4. timethief
Well I'm glad she had the grace to do that. I noticed her horrified look. Kanye West ought to get the boot.
  2. mikeny07
Last year they had a stunt where some guy landed butt first in someones face I think. It was a stunt. Everything on shows is already scripted that we see. I can't wait to see the Michael Jackson movie. Looks pretty cool. I wonder how much money it will make.
  3. Deray28
OMG! I seriously hope that was a stunt but I highly doubt it. Poor Taylor, she is the sweetest thing and she looked very mortified, and Beyonce too. What a nasty situation, of course that jack-a$$ should be banned!
    1. ArsenicCookies
I am doubting the stunt thing as well considering MTV's response to it.
  4. Friday13
Kanye needs to go away, forever.
    1. timethief
I agree. His behavior was utterly disgraceful so I hope MTV is flooded with emails stating -- get rid of him!
  5. ArsenicCookies
oh boo! I was hopin he'd vanish but apparently he apologized and MTV opened up their arms again. buzzworthy.mtv.com/2009/09/14/vma-2009-kanye-west-takes-to-his-blog-to-apol...

I don't even know who Taylor Swift is... I just hate Kanye. It makes me laugh that he was escorted out
    1. timethief
Sincere apology? Expression of genuine regret? I don't think so. IMO this guy is a narcissistic a$$hole.
  6. PetLvr
Well, first of all I don't know who Kanye West is - (although I have heard the name before)

But, from that video.. what I see

    1) nothing racist was said?? HUH?
    2) beyonce didn't looked horrified?? HUH?

Unfortunately, I can't see anything else because I they block transmissions here to Canada. Unless, there are more links?
    1. ArsenicCookies
the race thing came into play from his previous stunts, so that was a big debate based on the "type of person" he tends to bully, along with his comments from Essence, the katrina thing, and his affiliation with some less than savory groups.
    2. rfburnhertz
He didn't say anything racist in this instance.
Given his past however, a person could lay down a fairly safe bet in Vegas that this was racially motivated.
  7. stugod
why give him oxygen not worth wearing ya k out for it ps never heard of him until "NOW"
    1. ArsenicCookies
I seriously have no idea what you just said
    2. cookingasshole
      something about Yaks...
  8. rfburnhertz
What a tacky little man he is.
  9. DailyBeerReview
    my vote is for D-bag
  10. BeamingBalance
I hesitate to even expend any energy on him... but yeah, major a**hole.
  11. mikeny07
She will sell a load more albums though now that her name is mentioned in searches and articles everyplace. So in a way she will be even more popular because of it.
    1. Deray28
So, that makes it ok for the d-bag of Kanye to do that?

I don't take anything too serious on this channel though. I mean we are talking MTV here. Last year some guy landed butt first in someones face from above. They have not played music videos all day in ages. Remember in the 1980s when it was just a music channel? I only watch it once a year now when they have the awards on. Even that show is hard to watch sometimes. But I like the host they have for the show.

MTV is always looking for controversy to gain more viewers, and West is the perfect tool for the job. His face is all over the front page of every major news network and the MTV logo is followed right behind it. Win on their part, scripted or not.. so no I don't think they would ever ban someone like him for bad behavior when it works out to their advantage.
  15. CarlLevy
I completely agree this chanel is just looking for a great raiting, no matter what to show, what really matters is to be so controversial.
  16. 79sparrows
His original apology was NOT sincere--when I read his 'compliment' included which said something about him liking her lyric about bleachers/cheerleader. yeah, right.

Kanye has always been an arsehole especially at awards shows, but I think he is worse off than ever since the death of his mother. Seriously, you know Amber Rose wouldnt be in the picture if mama was still around. And I dont think he'd have been so quick to steal the limelight from a 19 year old girl.
  17. Anok
Boy from all the build up in the thread and on that website I was waiting to see him attack her or bomb the stage with something nasty or say something incredibly vile like drop the C-bomb on her or something.

What he did was childish and rude, but really? Not worth all the fuss it's been given.
    1. ArsenicCookies
hehe again I just hate Kanye
  18. Arcticulates
Even if he apologized he should be penalized in some way. He took a once in a lifetime moment away from a wonderful artist. Too bad such rude obnoxious behavior is becoming the norm.. He could have said what he wanted to say to the media after the show..
  19. carsonfb
I wouldn't call him a racist based on the clip. However, I would definitely say:

    1) He is very full of himself

    2) He is a complete @$$

Of course, neither of these observations comes as a shock to anyone, I'm sure.
  20. MadameX
Surprisingly tolerant viewpoint here from a big Taylor Swift fan: my-musical-notes.blogspot.com/2009/09/when-big-stars-make-bigger-mistakes.h...
  21. Deray28
Kanye will be the musical guest of Jay Leno's tonight debut on NBC. He said he will apologize for his actions tonight...now I don't want to see Jay's show.
  22. celticmusicfan
Taylor is a young singer. This is her first taste of victory. This is certainly going to leave a lasting impression in her way of looking at the biz. He destroyed it for her. And I have a strong contempt for every human being who is capable of doing that.Even if he has to apologize a thousand times, he could never bring back the moment and undo the damage. Who is the winner here? The show. Because no matter what, they can just wash their hands off from this stupid publicity event while the stars have to pay.
    1. MadameX
It's true that she's young, but she does have an American Music Award, something like 5 CMT awards and has been nominated for a Grammy and was the youngest-ever NSAI Songwriter/Artist of the year in 2007. I don't think she's quite as green and impressionable as you suggest.
  23. Deray28
Well, he is a good actor! He just was on the Leno show apologizing and he made it sound like it all came to be because he hasn't mourned the death of his mom as he should. He said he is going to take time out of music for a while. Then he proceeded to "sing" with Rhiana (sp?).

      Nice Spanish laugh TT jajajaja
    4. Friday13
She's just agreeing with you repeatedly. In Swedish.
  24. Theresa111
He is mean and I abhor meanness.

He is also parading as a singer. Oh boy! I cringe when he opens his mouth.

He has popularity and cash but that cannot compare with culture and true artistry ... talent.

He is rude and arrogant and perhaps a bit of a bigot, too. His actions, his words.

This one is going to be a tough one to forgive or forget. I keep seeing that sweet child's face and her humiliation, her disbelief and her perfectly earned moment spoiled. I will work on this.

I do love my neighbor, I do love my neighbor. I really do.
    1. celticmusicfan
Isn't he the same "singer" who said he doesn't like reading books and then later on released a book about what inspires him in life. if you tell your fans to throw books out of the window because it is boring, how can you even expect them to read what you write about? M*r*n.

This is the reference to the said 'book'.

      thecount.com/2009/05/25/kanye-west-to-release-a-book-of-philosophy/

      And wow look at this:
www.kanyeuniversecity.com/ The idiocy just baffles me.

I used to like Kayne... that was a long long time ago. Now I listen to The Roots.... much better anyway
  26. ArsenicCookies
i hope kanye doesn't show up to patrick swayze's funeral. " i'll let you get back to your funeral in a minute...but michael jackson had the best death of the year. just sayinnn ".
  27. deviki
    my answers
    Yes
    Yes
    No
    maybe he is just stupid

I used to like his songs but he have a big problem that he need to get fixed because it's making people hate him....i'm not a fan of him but i think just because you disagree with who won what (don't care what skin color that person is) ...doesn't mean you get to be rude and stupid ....many people can't overlook what he did....i think he needs to get his act straight ...i really pity her

Another fake stunt orchestrated by MTV to help them with their sad ass ratings.

It's sad that people are more concerned about this than what is really going on in this world.
    1. ArsenicCookies
""It's sad that people are more concerned about this than what is really going on in this world"

I don't think that's the case at all, I think it's more like this: remember when people hated Bush? Every mispronouciation, every slip of the tongue, people jumped on it because they hated him, not because it was important. Well ever since I was in the army, and they sent us to Katrina and Kanye started running his mouth, Kanye has become my Bush. I will make fun of him, laugh at his ugly ass clothes, and call it like I see it.

If in fact it was a stunt, MTV should have informed his publicist who has recently quit. They also should have informed Lady GaGa who pulled off of the fall tour with him. It would have also been wise to not use a racist in a stunt considering the current mentality of this country thanks to Palin's "creative" approach to political rallies

If it was not a stunt, he is going to wah wah wah about his mommy, check into rehab, and put out a redemption album.
    2. LaaIqaTellEm
All of this stuff is trivial. Pop culture is the biggest distraction in the world. Everything you just typed, doesn't matter in the end.

And the thing with Gag Lady is supposed to be him "taking some time off".
    3. ArsenicCookies
      haha aren't you precious
  29. runningshoes
Dont you guys know the truth behind this whole thing??

well it turned out that Kanye was just auditioning for a mvie called "Kanye West is a d*ckhead!"
  30. Ru
If it's a publicity stunt, I can't see who stands to gain anything. she's won the award already and he's not going to sell anymore records because of his outburst is he? I think people are putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with next weeks lottery draw numbers.
