name a movie that might not have gotten big time publicity - didn't necessarily break the bank - and quietly slipped into video ... and upon viewing turns out to be damn good.

i'll start. highly highly recommend "Fallen" with Denzel Washington. the movie is so well crafted ... watch carefully or it will elude you.

what's yours?

American History X. Don't catch it on cable b/c they will cut out the most dramatic parts.

I've seen many good movies on cable.. but hardly remember them or their names

Watch Terminal, or "in pursuit of happyness", or Rainman, Driving miss daisy, "my father a hero"

This movie gets me so riled up. I can't believe Dustin Hoffman's character was shafted so hard! I wanted him to strangle Andy Garcia's character!

Its hard to pick for me. I would say Let the Right One In, its a foreign film about a child vampire. Should be a great pick for this month since Halloween is coming.

Gridlock'd. There's something adorable about Tupac Shakur and Tim Roth with a shaky Brooklyn accent trying to kick their drug habit together. I would vote it has the "funniest stabbing scene" I've ever seen. Plus, social commentary about American health care before everyone was doing it.

None of these movies are under the radar movies. They were all critically acclaimed movies that were fairly popular at the box office.

Lately, I watch TV on DVD. I just watched the second season of "No Reservations" starring Anthony Bourdain. Fantastic foodie tours of a new city/country every episode. The Vietnam one made me want to live there.
