Did BC's community meet your initial expectations?

When you first joined the site, how did you expect the community to be like? For a website about blogging, I expect to find quite a bit of computer/internet techies but I didn't see as many as I hoped. But I got used to its wide diversity of people. How about yourself?

I didn't gave it that much thought. I saw a link on a blog, signed up and participated in discussions....and that's it ^_^

BC's community far exceeded my expectations. I joined BC anonymously with one blog about 2.5 years ago. It was part of an experiment I was conducting on a throwaway blog in hopes of learning something I could carry over into my work, and I so enjoyed the discussion forums that I ended up adding my "real" blogs and hanging around.

The only expectations I'd had were based on other forums I'd been in-- which were niche forums, and some of them so harsh/catty no matter how nice you were back, that I ended up not spending much time there.
BC may have its mood swings. But here I was able to meet some really interesting people and make some online friends. As much as BC may get dramatic occasionally, there are a lot of good, welcoming folks here.
I'd been surprised and pleased by that. -
I didn't join the site for the forums. I didn't even know there were forums at first. So I didn't really have any expectations

That's one of the reasons we've always been resistant to adding categories, unlike most forums where users are split by categories our main discussions are wide open and relevant to ALL bloggers regardless of what they write about.
