I've chosen to do my blog differently than most personal blogs. Is there a niche for me in the blogging world or should I rethink my design/content?

No set rules, but a blog needs to be updated more than every few weeks to be successful. Maybe daily is too much, but 3 posts in a month is usually not enough to be successful.

Depends on what you mean by success. I write because I feel like it, but it's not a whole lot. Any audience at all is good by me.

Because yours is such a niche, and so well done, I'll bet your regular readers love it.

      thanks...but I'm not sure if it's normal

No set rules, but as your blog grows you'll probably want a categories or labels section to aid people in navigation.

There are no rules. You write well.

I just presumed if someone is seeking a niche, and concerned with layout, then they are seeking some level of success beyond just posting.

your blog is a personal blog, so it should have your touch.....don't bother about other blogs, go ahead and personalize it your way....

Like the the other BC, members have said There's "No Set Rules"
and I have chosen not to have a niche for my site my Site is
Random that way i'm not blogging about the same topic...

This way I can write about fresh ideas & articles
that way my site will have a wider range in the aspect
    of drawing in new readers....

With you're blog being personal just be you're self and you
    will draw in readers...

You're writing more as a humor columnist, basing it on your life. It's a very familiar style and tone from certain magazines and newspapers.

How are "most" personal blogs written? This is at least the second and I believe third thread I've seen here in which someone talks about his/her personal blog not being written like all the rest, but I haven't necessarily seen anything I would consider a consistent structure, approach or voice across personal blogs. What is this mysterious personal blog formula to which folks keep referring?

I assumed when the poster said " written like a journal" he meant in diarist form, like many of the personal blog which talk about their day, their problems and so on.

There are no set rules. Remember you are writing for an audience, however.

Mine is not and it does just fine.

Some of my posts read more like articles aimed at a general audience rather than a 'diary' entry, if that's what you mean.

I consider my blog to be a personal blog, but I very rarely write about my personal life. Just write what you want and you should be happy. I wish you the best of luck!
