I am just wondering do some of you people still read their blogs? I used to visit their blog, but never really learned from their blogs. what i really learned is from the comments, people who asked the questions on their blogs. but johnchow and problogger never answered those questions unless it was something that would help them, so i had to find the answers myself. that was a good learning.
anyways, i don't go to their blogs anymore. i felt like i wasted a lot of time on their blogs enough, now i should spend time on my own blog and improve it.

what you guys think?

  2. Carleenp
I like problogger and have found quite a bit of useful information there. I haven't read Chow very much.
  3. scholarpreneur
    Still?

I've never read either one. You recommend 'em?
  4. jpearce
I haven't read either one. I do get Digital Photography School in email for the last year. Just found out a few months ago that it was run by Problogger!

yeah i think darren disclosed that site was his. it has been reported that he runs many other sites too, but nobody seem to know. same with shoemoney, running many sites that we don't know he owns.
    2. bradhart
it isn't uncommon for full time bloggers to run/manage a lot of sites. Hell I currently manage more than 50 sites not associated with me and looking to add 10 to 12 more before the end of the year.

Everyone should be reading mattnutts.com now anyway

      Clever execution there!
  6. webrunner
i have read and learned some things from both but I am still a bit skeptical of any make money blogging website. Why would anyone basically tell their competition how to be more successful.

If you give away tidbits for free you increase traffic. When you increase traffic you have more leverage to make money from your website.

Not everyone is going to succeed so it doesn't hurt to give away some info to gain an audience.

I don't think I've ever been to either one.

    never read either of those.

I commented on one John Chow post recently about Entrecard, but other than that, I've never visited either site as they don't hold much interest for me. John Chow has always rubbed me the wrong way, and I'm not at all familiar with ProBlogger.

Problogger has been very useful...if there is any question about blogging I do a search. Johns Chow also rubs me the wrong way.

i think most people try to get link juice from their blog by leaving comments. but they don't realize that these bloggers have added the url in comments no_follow tag. so no pr or link juice.
  12. Unfettered
I'm sure most of us realize that, given the recent attention to the "do follow" movement. Personally, I never expect to get a link credit from leaving a comment. It's nice if I get a couple of hits now and then, but if I comment on a blog, it's because I feel I have something to say. The mileage of others may vary, of course

ProBlogger was the first blogger that spoke about making money online, that seemed honest and not trying to sell something. I always liked the Tips and how he will tell you like it is and from his words " making money online is not easy". Not everyone can do it and he never started blogging to make money, it just happened over a period of 2 yrs.

I visit Problogger sometime and like some tips there as well. But, I don't like Johnchow.Johnchow writes on everything; from his daily life to what did he have eaten on his journey and many more.

    1. IntelliGenius
i would recommend not to visit him much. i felt like i wasted a lot of time there before and didn't' do anything to my own blog. now i focus on my own blog and starting to make some money.
  21. maccasenior
I found Problogger a great place to visit - it's not just a site to learn how to earn more money through your blog - it's also a place to learn how to be a better blogger.
  22. pointlessbanter
I like problogger... I would rather blow my head off than read johnchow...
    1. IntelliGenius
true that. all the junks there. heard his ebook is basically the exact copy of his previous postings.
  23. n8
Problogger yes. John Chow...not so much. Looks like the over all consensus here.
  24. Abdalla
John Chow daily, it only makes me even more hungry to make money online. I do not envy him but I would like to earn half of what he gets!!
  25. creatingsummer
the blogs i've found most helpful are www.geniustypes.com by Brian Lee and thinksimplenow.com by Tina Su. their blogs offer truly helpful content and they really deserve the huge online readership that they've earned
  26. thegnr
problogger has a nice blog you will learn something on his blog for sure.
  27. rnvr
john chow make money by his blog, me by my blog

    rapidflick.blogspot.com
  28. revenue
    I read them both
  29. blackzero85
Never read both, never heard both.

    You guess.
  30. bradhart
As for reading these blogs, yes with a lot of others. If you want to be successful in this business you read them. If you aren't learning something from these people then you are probably too daft to make any money and should probably just give up trying now.

For a full list of who I read and who you should be reading if you want to be making the most money you can check out the blogroll at www.bloggingfornoobs.com
  31. zawadi
I read all the top blogs, chow, problogger and shoemoney and my newest read is noob the noob from BC that is lol
  32. DaneMorgan
I never really read John Chow, but I do read problogger.
  33. shotazi
I disagree with you, problogger and johnchow is blogs which all bloggers should read and you shouldn't read only posts, also read comments.

Those is blogs where you can find very interesting blogs which aren't so popular but have very quality content and there is heart of blogsphere
  34. JanelleV
I really like Problogger -- I try to look at it whenever I can!
  35. RTBjr73
Problogger is one that I frequent. I am also a fan of Yaro Starak. The only thing I enjoyed of John Chow are his reports that he offers. I got a couple of ideas off of them.
