I posted what is essentially a rough draft of a paper for my social web class. It is a REALLY long post but I thought it might be an interesting discussion starter.
I find it interesting that the sex industry is always on the cutting edge of technology, usually ahead of most corporations. Be it the use of the social web like I outlined in my post or in other facets. Look at pornography for example, how long has there been streaming crystal clear video on the web for porn and now TV networks are just starting to deploy it like MTV....
(also please stumble or digg the post if you like it)

Dude man, that article pretty well rocks. Your one of the few people I see that actually uses citations!
Nicely written article on something that is well known in the tech industry...porn pushes adaption of new technology where ever it goes. -
Kevin, you might want to check out a service called WebCite at www.webcitation.org/index . I've never used it, but the idea is great. They will save whatever you're citing so that it doesn't go away on you.

Doesn't much matter for the blog post, but I figured for your class it might be useful. If I had known about it earlier, I might have had the chutzpah to cite some web sources in formal history papers.
Edit: Sometime I would like to figure out how to do endnotes for an online publication. I've seen one blogger here simply use Word to do the conversion. Perhaps it really is that easy. -

Very simple very easy footnotes for WordPress. Just use tags like this< footnote>This is a footnote< /footnote> in your WordPress Posts and it will automatically format and link your foot notes for you.

But back to your prostitutes. Why wouldn't they understand the web better? It's not like they can get away with openly trying to establish brand loyalty through ads.
I wonder if that part of "corporate America" that does direct marketing is perhaps also better on the web---companies like Avon and Tupperware, for example. I think I recently heard about Jockey doing direct marketing now too. -
One other thing: you should be in this BC group:
