A lot of people say we need to respect God and our religions that we should keep them in the churches or just in prayer communities. Some really say it's a TABOO.

On the other hand, some have stood and refused to go against the flow and are now blogging about their faith, religion and their God.

How about you? Do you considere topics like these Taboo or are you one of thos few who blog about it and are proud about it.

    I do.. sometimes.. but I call it mythology instead

      great quote you have!
    2. jeremyjanson
      Nice quote, but I don't think that's really where they're coming from.

      You must love Joseph Campbell. (I do as well)

    I blog about religion sometimes...but I talk about how destructive and non-sensical it is...if anything in the world is evil it's religion.
    1. mister2mike
      @siuilaruin
      Does that mean you don't believe in God?
    2. Epicharis
      of course I don't believe in god...I wasn't brainwashed as a kid nor am I an idiot as an adult.
    3. mister2mike
      @siuilaruin
      How will you then explain creation? how will you then explain your exitence?
    4. Epicharis
      I'm going with the scientific theories...

      @SiuilAruin

      I can see you're sure about what you believe in (or not believing in) keep it up!

      What on earth are you talking about?

    I surely blog about my faith. There is a commission for all christians to preach the gospel to all the earth. See Matt. 28:19
    It is with that in mind I set up my blog-http://my-spiritual-health.blogspot.com to teach the world ageless wisdom from the scriptures

    Posting about religion is selling something I just aint buying.

      @crpitt
      for some maybe they're using it to promote their blogs but not all of them. some are serious and true to thier posts.

    Religion is cool and god is a righteous dude.
    1. mister2mike
      @aningeniousname

      So which religion do you belong?
    2. aningeniousname
      I'm a 36 hour adventist with baptist leanings.
    3. mister2mike
      @aningeniousname
      hmm do you believe that God is the only way to heaven?
    4. aningeniousname
      Well the main plank of our doctrine is the belief that all bodily fluids are sacred (Even accidentally released ones) and that god meant the bible to be read in the nude.
    5. satijournal
      Well the main plank of our doctrine is the belief that all bodily fluids are sacred (Even accidentally released ones) and that god meant the bible to be read in the nude.

      At the park?
    6. aningeniousname
      My park work is a very important part of my missionary work and if I have to go out there among the bitter winds and thorny bushes of the godless and spill my sacred fluids I will, that's all part of my church's mission.
    7. legbamel
      That explains the avatar. Years ago, I had an awesome shirt that read, "Pray Naked!" and had a bible verse to justify the idea. I scandalized my mother by wearing it to her classroom, but since it had a religious citation on it she couldn't really say much. I'd been smart enough to look it up so that I could tell her why it was a completely devotional shirt.
    8. aningeniousname
      I call my park work "cxck and awe" I feel we have got to the stage now where shock tactics are not only needed but are for the most part fully justifiable to bring people into the loving arms of our lord the baby Jeebus.
      They can arrest me as many times as they like but they will never stop me showing it for Jeebus!
    9. mister2mike
      @aningeniousname

      it's just isn't right to define spreading the word with dropping or throwing fluid. it's kinda gross if you look at it.
    10. aningeniousname
      How are you attack my religion! I have not only reported you to the BC admin I have also put the curse of a thousand baby Jeebus's on you.
      Don't be surprised if your bodily fluids begin to dry up in the next few weeks, heretic!
  7. dosox
    Yes! All my posts are religiously rooted but you'll have a hard time finding it out.
  8. mister2mike
    @dosox
    hmm let me check your site and try to find out.
    1. dosox
      Did you find anything I'm always messed up

      @dosox i actually left a comment.
  9. jafabrit
    I think people blog about what they want to, and that is their business. Some need to share their beliefs, and some don't. Some live their beliefs quietly and don't need to prove anything or convert. Some have a need to try and convert, proselytize.

    So no, I don't think it taboo, but like many trying to sell something on their blogs I avoid them. I have been far more influenced and moved by the actions of those who live their beliefs with quiet dignity.
    1. mister2mike
      @jafabrit i'd agree with you. it's wrong to use for wrong purposes like blog promotion but please don't generalize. there are some who use it puerly to spread the word of God and glorify his name.
    2. Epicharis
      she means selling religion...as in spreading the word of god.
    3. mister2mike
      @SiuilARuin

      If you mean selling religion, spreadiong the Word of God then that should be right.
    4. Epicharis
      non-religious people are not very fond of being preached to... chances are everyone has already heard of Christianity so you really don't need to spread the word anymore
    5. mister2mike
      @SiuilARuin

      you're right possibly they have an idea but they haven't understood it yet. that's why there's preaching to make them see what it really is.
    6. Epicharis
      If you say so, but it's still peddling something, something jafabrit doesn't want in the blogs she reads.
    7. jafabrit
      I think if you read my commentMister2mike then you would have seen I used the word "some" which does not indicate a generalization. And as SiuilARuin stated I have little interest in any blog peddling something (no matter what it is).
    8. mister2mike
      @jafabrit

      don't worry I believe you adn respect your stand. just rtying to understand everything.
  10. PearlTrader
    I am also one of those who blog about religion, and true science proves true religion many scientist are returning towards religion for they found its evidence in science.I believe in religion because even scientists follow religion and they worship too psychologists have found that those who believe in religion are more confident than those who don't.And further i want to say that most human follow a religion if not why American coins shows these words that "In God We Trust"

    I blog for Islam and am happy doing this.I am following a religion not because of my parents, for i started prayers regularly at the age of 20.

    Everyone is given a choice to select a path we are devided in many categories Religious like Christians,Hindus and Muslims etc. and there are a few who don't follow any religion, everyone is free from our Lord to choose one path but we believe we are going to be questioned one day and that is not too far away.

    I am really sorry for typing a long reply but it is because that ur Question was related to Religious blogs and i think u give me right to reply because i blog for a religion and i am serious doing this.

    Thanks a lot for ur question!
    1. mister2mike

  12. BeyondBeliefs
    3000+ religions and 6 Billion different beliefs exist on ONE tiny planet.

    Their differences are ONLY their LIES. The Truth is the SAME for every living thing that has ever existed on earth.

    '' Virgin births, walking on water, water to wine, angels, demons, heavens, hells, talking burning bushes, Jonnah coughed up by a whale, instant Adam and Eve, talking snakes, forbidden fruits, parting the red sea, murdering the first born, Noah's arc, flooding the earth, raining fires, pillars of salt, resurrecting the dead... ''

    Although Humanity does have much to discuss, our imagined things, like flying magic fire breathing dragons and volcano gods, can only exist in the ABSENCE of knowing the Truth about the development of Life in our galaxy.

    If we all KNEW TRUTH then there could only be ONE ''religion'' and that religion would be called , ''Understanding''.
    1. mister2mike
      @BeyondBeliefs

      Your reply is something to really think about. Personally, i believe that Christianity is the True religiong (that's just my faith). I disagree that everything is a lie. I don't with the rest but I'm sure that my religion is true. and it is the religion Jesus Christ founded. thanks though for your reply.
    2. BeyondBeliefs
      The Roman Empire needed to control their population of soldiers and slaves.

      After murdering Christ, the Roman empire used the LATIN language to translate SOME of the texts they stole during their conquests of the middle east and Africa.

      The Latin language contains 21,621 words, Total.

      The Roman Empire burned the books, and the people, who disagreed with their translations.

      After 560 years of editing, the Roman Empire released their Latin writing to the illiterate public.

      In 1461 a German Monk translated the Latin into German, which was then translated into the various versions in use today.

      So, good Luck understanding the Creator of Universes, Galaxies, Time and Life from reading the embellished translations and interpretations issued by the Roman Empire, USING Gods name in Vain.

      To know the Artist, view the Painting and correct the words of those slave owning flat earth murdering barbarians.

      May You then Bless God with your short time here in His Creation.
    3. jeremyjanson
      @BeyondBeliefs: But what about the Eastern and African christian traditions?
  13. mister2mike
    Now let me continue and make this discussion go deeper:

    Is it really RELIGION with all the traditions and all or RELATIONSHIP with GOD that is important even if you don't have a religion.

    What do you all think?
  14. BeyondBeliefs
    Who does life serve, when they curse the body and the mind of Gods Creation for their beloved religion ?

    The earth is the definition of GOOD, and these recently fabricated ''nations'' and ''religions'' , made of mere words, are the definition of Evil.
    1. mister2mike
      @BeyondBeliefs

      Religions are here to cater the people towards God. There maybe evil religions who do them for money but not in general. there are a lot out there who do it to cater to the spiritual needs of the members and to make them closer to God.
    2. BeyondBeliefs
      Look for yourself... Religions draw Humanity away from God and His creation, turning children into cannibals who live, consume, labor, kill and die for ''god and country''.

      For 3.7 million years, Humanity was evolving because Truth required no enforcement, and the knowledge of Truth kept the Human family honest, respectful and Kind to Life.

      Then religions promised ''heaven'' if citizens would curse creation to ''hell'' and built armies to enforce and defend their lies.

      These wars are not between brothers and sisters, but between the invisible borders erected by the peddlers and defenders of lies.

      Living Things will defend what they LOVE.

      When they care more about flags and an ''Afterlife'' than about Life, then God's Creation suffers.
    3. mister2mike
      @BeyondBeliefs

      I can never see the point why creation suffers. maybe because of your allegation that religion curses people? well i can't argue with that. there will be condemnation because God is just and he never let the guilty go unpunished. Religion then on the other hand reaches out to the lost and to those who haven't understood to cater them towards a relationship with jesus christ.
    4. BeyondBeliefs
      And on '' Religions are here to cater the people towards God. ''

      Life and God are inseparable.
      Life can not survive long without Truth.
      Religions forbid you to know Truth.

      If Truth was known then there would be no religions, or any wars needed to defending God and His Creation from religion's various lies being enforced by swords, muskets, tanks, threats of ''hell'' and promises of ''heaven''.

      To Love God and His Creation, one needs to KNOW God and His creation, and no religion can allow that to happen.

      Lies can not exist in the presence of known Truth.
    5. BeyondBeliefs
      I sympathize.
      It is not easy to unlearn an AXIOM.

      God does not punish the VICTIM of a CRIME.
      It is not the child's fault what language they speak, what flag they salute or what stone god they worship.
      God does not curse Gods creation.
      Religions do.

      Remember: Religions are Mere Words and not Alive.
      But We Are Alive.

      Only the ''false gods'', the ''Anti-Creation'', the ''Satan'' calls God's Creation ''Born Sinner'', calls your body ,''Pornography'', calls your children ''Bastards'' for being born without their ''Holy'' Permission.

      To the ''Anti-Creation'', God's Children are ''Heathens'', ''Pagan'', ''Athiests'' and ''Heretics'', all ''destined to hell'' who must be cursed, condemned, invaded, converted or killed in order to ''save their souls, our souls, and the world''.

      Don't blame God, or His children, for the evil that religions have done here in their fear of ''Hell'' and their Greed for ''Heaven''.
  15. LynneaUrania
    I don't blog on religion per se. I blog about spirituality and philosophy, specifically regarding the subject of innocence. There may be references to religion as they often support the concept of innocence. But religion as often harms innocence as helps it because religion has been too much defined by dogma and sectarian politics. Traditions are okay as long as they're a starting point for teaching deeper concepts. Making them into something more than that is quite harmful. And even people who talk about "relationship with God" more often than not don't know what they are talking about. Even the "sinner's prayer" can lead nowhere because too often it's done to gain approval of an organization (which the Bible worker eagerly chalks up as a "new convert"), and not an actual turning of a life so that it really does become a "new creation."
    1. mister2mike
      @LynneaUrania

      I see you're kinda familiar about the religion of christianity, were you one before?
  16. mdsultan
    Yes. I blog about relegion but is in Tamil,the southern Indian language. I want to share my exeperience and satisfaction in this relegion with fellow citizen. I try to clear the misconception of the relegion by answering the questions so as to live in harmony with fellow human being.
    1. jafabrit
      I would not necessarily see your blog as peddling because it is about sharing and for me there is a BIG difference. I have always enjoyed my friends of differing faiths sharing their joy with me because it wasn't about trying to convert, but to share a part of their life that is important.

      My intention is to remove the misconception about my religion in others mind and if they want me to clarify. There is no need you should have accept it all. You may have your difference but you know who we are or I am . If I know you, your faith and belief in a nice way, the friendship bond between us will be better. If you think it is peddling, you may think as you can.

    What is considered taboo is to speak out against religion. Religion is supposed to get a free pass from being critiqued like we critique all other things in life. Sometimes I blog on the non-nonsensical ways people justify beliefs that really serve no other purpose but to comfort them, and have no basis in the pursuit of truth.
  21. lnclark1950
    I do not blog about religion but I do write about spiritual things. My view of religion is of people trying to reach God by pleasing God but people who are lead by the Spirit know that God is reaching down to them. Some of you would like what I write and some of you would disagree with it completely. Since I am not trying to convert anyone I can write the truth as best as I can.

      i think i'd agree. if we blog just to tell the truth. the truth that we believe the truth then that's great! It depends now if the readers would belive you or not and be converted
  22. mister2mike
    @morgantj

    great reply. but here' my point: it's indeed okay to blog about religion but i think it's also okay to go against religion. there's free will and you're free to write you want to write about.

    I blog about religion very much, I would really like to show you what I blog about... but it's in swedish.
  24. mister2mike

    if it's swedish that's a little difficult. why don't you install the free google translator so your audience can be international as possible?
  25. kokijar
    hi mike..just saw this discussion..I dont blog about religion. in fact, i dont like the term religion, much less religious. But, i am proud to share my faith and the God I serve, the God i know, and the God I live for. True enough, religion has caused much much trouble in history and even in the current set because of diverse ideologies and philosophies, and because of greed and pride.

    Yet, one thing for sure, God loves us all and He wants everyone to know that. He wants everyone come to the knowledge of salvation. He wants everyone to be saved, az in everyone, from the mainstream of the world to the very ends of the earth. This is what we were and we are commissioned to do. However, our predecessors and even some of us now did not and are not doing it the way Christ did. I remember Mahatma Gandhi who once said, I love Christianity, but not Christians. It was because of the unfair treatment he received from christians he encountered. now, i'm talking about christianity, which is religion. allow me for that as an example.

    It was man who defined christianity, buddhism, shintoism, hinduism, taoism, among others, simply to identify which sect does one belongs. As people of God, let us be reminded that the Truth is for everyone. His salvation, which was revealed and prophesied before Christ and was fulfilled through Christ, is for the Jews, the Gentiles, and for all peoples on earth.

    One last thing:

    GOD LOVES US ALL, we may be theists, atheists, or agnostics, He loves us. He died for us.
    1. mister2mike
      @Koko

      this is so true! to add to that i bumped into this one person who said it's not about religion, it's about relationship with the Lord!
  26. KFrangeskos
    I do not consider "blogging about religion" right or wrong. It does not matter if you belong to an organized group or not...I only believe there is a God. HE is very nice, loving and only wants the BEST FOR US! I have been Blessed to have a great relationship with God...and I know HE IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU, ME AND FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS OR WANTS HIM ! GOD will make Himself known to you....Just Ask.
    1. mister2mike
      @KFrangeskos This is right! You're on the right track!
  27. Halconite
    Yes I am. Though I believe that God's word should not be confined in holy places, we must avoid self-righteous (or a feeling of smug moral superiority) undertones when we blog or preach...

    Now and then I post a blog that is religious based
  32. kzemek
    Only now and then. Mostly I schedule these posts for Sundays on my Karen & Gerard Zemek blog (www.zemeks.blogspot.com) but mostly include this type of post on my Zemeks Updates (karen.pnn.com) blog in the Parma Heights Baptist Church or Life Is Tough But God Is Good sections. I've only done a couple posts about it on "My Funny Dad, Harry" blog (www.karenzemek.blogspot.com)
  33. 1brncowco
    I blog about personal evolution using God as your number 1 tool to great personal enlightenment. I blog about combining many different world religions together to create the one personal relationship that can be more beneficial than that of a single thought process.
  34. AkinNuAn
    I don't think religion is a bad thing, quite the opposite in fact. But the fact that the topic is 'Taboo' is a joke. Ask yourselves one question- If religion had no damaging secrets to hide from its now more educated followers, then why is the subject taboo?

    Over the coming future my blog will expose exactly why the subject is taboo and why modern day religion is not all you might think it is, in fact- it doesn't even belong to those who claim to have established their religions.

    The human interpretation of God and the Devil are very much misinterpreted. Your spine will shiver when you see the evidence I will be presenting over the next year.

    More people have died on this planet, throughout our history, over religion than anything else put together and doubled. Remember that and then ask yourself- Is religion such a good thing after all?

    I'll be explaining why it is and also why it isn't in great detail using both historical and religious evidence to back up everything I say. I will also inform you what (Not who) God and the Devil really are and the original story of our creation: What you were not told in the Bible- a book which wasn't written by a single eye witness to any event published in its text- the only person who has been proved as genuine in the entire story is Pontius Pilate.

    Does that not strike anybody as strange?
    1. rfburnhertz
      Akin,
      I'll be checking your blog with interest as to this 'evidence' you are to present.

      I have to say I've my doubts as to my spin shivering as I've discovered over the years the 'evidence' is never new it's just repackaged and presented in shinny new wrapping.

      When the wrapping is removed and the package is open, you find nothing new.

      I will read none the less as I find it interesting and needed to know counter worldviews.
  35. qelqoth
    As I said on a similar thread:

    "Religion is systematic dogma that uses primitive scaremongering tactics (i.e. fire, brimstone, etc.) which then indoctrinates people into ludicrous ideologies about an afterlife. This is purely in an attempt to make themselves feel better about the inevitability of death."

    Also, I do not deny the possibility that an all powerful creator exists. But it is impossible for me to put my faith in these ludicrous theories without first obtaining viable, first hand evidence. Until science can prove me wrong, there is no god.
    1. rfburnhertz
      Sounds to me as though you have a religious faith.
  36. nothingprofound
    God may be an atheist for all we know.

    Why not heroin? Because I don't need it. Why not religion? Because i don't need it.
    1. mister2mike

    1. mister2mike

  39. AlshimaaHelmy
    Yes I blog about religion. I have two blogs one of them is a general one where I write about myself and my career( Biotechnology and Genetics)in my mother language and the other one is completely about my belief and my religion (Islam) in other languages.
    inalllanguages.blogspot.com/
    I do that because of so many reasons one of them is that I had the chance to discover with my mind a perfect style of life in Islam that I want to share with others no matter what they believe in or where they come from.
    What makes me determined to do this is that I'm mixing my spiritual background with the scientific knowledge I gain every day from my study.
    So, Yes I do this and I'm proud of it. Thanks for your nice topic.
    1. mister2mike
      great one. i'm glad you're proud of what you're doing. you're in the right track to success.
    1. mister2mike
      WOW! I'll surely visit your site. Nice one!
  40. rfburnhertz
    I have a blog meant for religion and one meant for the political and news in general. I've pretty much ignored the blog meant for religion over the past couple of months as I've been obsessed with the political.

    Not that I ignore my Christian life in favor of the political, I've just been ignoring the non political blog. Though I have posted there twice this month.
    1. mister2mike
      oh. that's really depends on you which one to grow.
  41. ArizonaAtheist
    I blog about religion all the time. I don't think the subject is taboo at all. Like all other beliefs people hold, I don't see why religious beliefs should not be criticized if there is something it should be criticized for.
    1. jeremyjanson
      Of course, and discussion helps weed out faulty logic, as Martin Luther tried to show us.

      Taboo? Religious blogs are not at all uncommon. The blogosphere is full of religious blogs.

    I have talked about religion in some posts, but I don't make it a habit to talk about it often. Here's a recent example...

    Yes, all my blogs are the religious ones. Sometime we feel bliss and encounter many beautiful things in religion. My beloved Bali, she could be so beautiful because of her religion, Hindu. When we feel happy or realizing something blissful, I think it's normal to give our happiness to others. Of course we shouldn't force them to feel the same "happiness" from ours. But if it did make them happy also, why not? We just distribute, let others decide to take it or not.

    @timethief

    I'm just wondering why anyone would consider it 'taboo' to blog about your religion or beliefs. If someone doesn't like, or isn't interested in what you blog about, all they have to do is 'not read it'. Seems like common sense to me. Plenty of people don't read my blog. LOLOL

    Unless the thought police put masking tape over my mouth, I'll blog about what I want to.

    (This isn't aimed at you, timethief, just the question at hand, 'would you consider it taboo'.)

    I don't generally blog about my Christian beliefs on the blog I have set up because it's mainly just a poetry blog.
    1. timethief
      @rebecca
      I think the "taboo" is imaginary. IMHO it was probably a device used to secure attention.
      If one types "Christian blogs" into the BC search utility one gets these results:
      *All results - 29,755 items found - www.blogcatalog.com/topic/Christian+blogs/
      * Directory www.blogcatalog.com/blogsearch/Christian/
      * Blog tags - 1,023 items found - www.blogcatalog.com/tag/Christian/

    Why not? Isn't it important enough to blog about?

    "All that's required for evil to triumph in the world is for good men to do nothing." -Edmund Burke

    @jeremyjanson
    Yes, my Christian faith is important enough to blog about. I have a MySpace page set up to honor God. But my current blog is a showcase for my poetry. That is my point. It's kind of like if you have a blog about baseball. Or gardening.

    And again, I reiterate, there is nothing taboo about blogging about Jesus Christ; just the opposite, in fact. We are given the great commission as Christians to tell the world about Jesus. We tell them, but what they choose to do with the information is then between them and God.

    And I know the question wasn't specifically about Jesus, but that is my faith. So if I were to blog about my faith, it would be about Jesus. And no, it is not taboo. You can always choose to ignore my blog.

    But I don't ignore my faith, either, in my blog, as my latest post testifies.

      Good. Keep it up. I apologize if you thought that was directed towards you or those with artistic blogs, I was mainly speaking about those with more editorial-oriented blogs, and you know, it can be done without making every post about it or making any post completely about it. It's both healthy and practical to tie many threads in to one strong rope so that all can learn as they can.

    totally proud.

    I had just started a religion (Islamic blog ) , and why not we feel proud of it, if Allah is taking this service for us to spread his message.

    No, but now there is a pink elephant in the room, and I might have to...

    Religion is a fundamental part of humanity (for now at least) and must be discussed, both the good and the bad. What is really taboo is questioning the beliefs from within a given system. I believe that without questioning our own beliefs there is no growth on a personal and societal level. This is what I attempt to do on my blog, and through questioning we may learn more about ourselves and others.

    Taboos are meant to be broken. So believers, non-believers, and all those in-between, BLOG ON!
  59. Rebecca7
    I just got that timethief thought I was saying it's taboo to blog about religion or your beliefs. I didn't get that last night. Shows I need to quit staying up 'til all hours of the morning.

    NO, NO, NO It is NOT taboo to blog about religion or your beliefs. It's called freedom of speech!!! And I'll blog about anything I want to. And Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour.

      Yikes! I didn't think you were saying that at all. I do not agree that it is taboo to blog on religion. Blogging takes place in blogs and remarkably the blogosphere is full tof Christian blogs.

      IMHO mister2mike is simply using "taboo" in the OP as an apologist's device aimed at encouraging Christians, who have niche blogs on subjects other than Christianity, to share their faith with their readers in their blogs.

      Also on the subject of freedom of speech. The American constitutional amendment to which you refer is aimed only at Congress. It constrains government from depriving citizens of freedom of speech in public places and spaces. It does not compel any owner of a private place or space to have to allow with Christians or members of any other faiths to evangelize on their premises.

      This BC forum space and place is a privately owned one, and the owners choose to allow members of BC to post threads about religion. They are NOT under any legal compulsion to do so.

    I blog about politics, and politics and religion don't mix.

    I would like to say that the Christianity at BC is really obnoxious

    As far as I am concerned religion is a huge part of a lot of peoples lives But...

    When you start to compare and disagree you alienate people based on their thoughts, and in particular (but not limited to) Christians are really bad at passing judgement.

    You might say you are fair and honest ... but deep down you are that Self-righteous little preacher on the corner holding their bible arguing with no-one in particular, who would probably commit suicide if you didn't think that god or jesus loved you or think you had a shot at heaven.

    religious blogs are not uncommon

    Pride, i would like to mention, especially of religion, is even more obnoxious and in my opinion makes you about as honourable as any bully

    as a side note @mister2mike I would like to question your motives in starting a thread like this, what were you trying to achieve? and how does it reflect on you that your comments praise those who do blog on religion but are quite mediocre and unenthused when approached by the non faithful / religious?

    double standards and favouritism are a pet hates of mine... and i fail to understand how such thoughts and ideas can be sustained
  62. HollytheHousewife
    Well, I don't do religion, but I do have true FAITh! I don't blog about my faith,but if u read my blog then u will deffinately know that what I pulled off,in saving my house, wasn't me at all to tell u the truth.
  63. thetreeswillclap
    I blog about it. But mostly, my blogging is a response to what I see God doing in my life; how He's calling me out, how He's transforming me, and how I think I need to be living in the midst of what He's doing.

    So that takes a lot of different forms. Sometimes I blog about activism, my experiences working with those in poverty, sometimes I'll write about my efforts to go "green" or "organic", or other environmentalism efforts. Sometimes I'll have writing as a response to scripture or other things I read/hear/see.

    Check it out. Though I've been writing for several years, this is a relatively new blog for me, so there is only a few posts.

    thestarpeople.wordpress.com is my blog about breaking through limited religious thought which cripples humanity. It is another way of knowing the God thing.

    I have touched on religion in some of my posts, but it's not the common theme or a typical topic.

    You can blog about anything you want. However, when it comes to religion, it becomes a challenge for a few reasons:
    1. You have those readers who don't believe in God, which is fine. There is no law that says everyone has to believe in the Bible or God. Freedom of choice.
    2. Then you have those who do believe in God but to them God comes in different forms and takes on different meanings or even personalities.
    3. Then you have those who have been indoctrinated differently than what you may believe in. Mormons, Catholics, Protestants, Evangelicals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Muslim, Jews, etc
    So, when you blog about religion, you're likely to have attacks, disagreements, agreements and sometimes, even heated discussions on the subject. And, an occasional “Amen, brother! Amen, sister!”
    In my experience, when you blog about religion, things work out well if the posts are targeted to those of the same faith or belief system. I mean, atheists blogging to atheists, Mormons to Mormons, JW's to JW's, Baptists to Baptists, etc. But if you mix tem all together, man, it can turn into a mess because people believe and see things so differently depending on their indoctrination, frame of mind, past experiences with religion, lack of experience with it, stereotypes and how the entire concept affects them. I have family members who think religion is about sneaky pastors reaching into people’s pockets or organizations making money in the name of God. They believe that with all their hearts mostly because of what they have read or seen on YouTube. So it must be true, right?
    If you can find a way to develop mutual respect for opinions expressed, then many can walk away or participate without getting a bloody nose. But that’s hard to do on a religion blog open to all faiths.
    If religion wasn't mostly based on "faith" but actual "evidence" many problems would be solved. But those who believe in God know that the “game” is played based on faith and not perfect knowledge or solid evidence of God's existence, evidence you can touch and feel. If God showed up tomorrow and said: "Listen up, 3lbs brainers, everyone! The true Church is _______________. So quit fighting with one another!"
    Two things would happen: a) Everyone would see Him and know that He is and b) We might have to give up our religion and join the one He said was the right one. Needless to say some of us would get deeply disappointed to find out we’ve been following the wrong religion all our lives. Or, He could appear to all and say: "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there will I be also!" No mention of any man-made or organized religion. This would please most believers because it's non denominational! Problem is, by being there with three people, doesn’t mean THAT’s a church, just a gathering, right? Is a gathering an official church?
    So, I don't normally blog about religion because I don't know who's reading my blog. I believe in God so if I blogged about religion, my atheist readers would simply discount me as another religious freak and those who didn't share my religion would simply discount me as following the wrong shepherd or something.
    You can never please everyone when it comes to religion. There will always be doctrinal, historical and theological disagreements or blatant attacks on what you believe in. Every religious group has enemies, dissidents and the occasional flake that gives everyone else a bad name. It's been like this since day one – Judas and Cain come to mind - and I don't see it ending until the so-called "Millennium" or when something big happens, coming from on high or when it becomes very clear to people that the prophecies spoken of in the book of Matthew are smack in front of our faces everyday. Until then, I will continue blogging about marketing online. (:-)

    When you blog about religion, you take your chances. Look:

    I would not say Christianity is a religion. It a relationship with a personal touch with a living God. In my blog I do share this.
