Do you click on adsense?

I just want to know your opinions about this matter. You see, I'm questioning the effectiveness of putting adsense in your blog, considering that most people simply ignore it, and most just don't even see it if they used a reader.

right. if you like the blog, click on the ads, you help your friends getting some bucks just because you are so kind to click. nothing wrong with it. thought it´s an unspoken but obvious rule (?)in the social blogsphere. bloggers unite for all kinda things - so why not uniting for adsense clicking - or why do we drop entrecards? i´ll set up a group on BC - a fanclub for adsense friends: you click on my ads, i follow. that´s community thinking - no?

@gadgeteer:
can you make a widget similar to the one you developed lately for entrecard-dropper-promotion?

I do not have advertising of any kind including adsense on my blogs. I never click adsense ads or any other ads on blogs.
I also have the Adblock Plus addon to my firefox browser that I highly recommend to others. Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them. It's a free download - addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 -
Adsense is good sometimes!! Yet a problem at other times,concerning the wrong advertisements, that had nothing to do with my blog subject.. I am hoping that as I use it, on my blog that it will have something that will enhance my blot, so to speak, that will compel them to click on it...tho that doesn't happen very often...But one could hope!!!

If I am interested on an ad I might click on it. If you blog about making money online, your adsense ads don't stand many chances of getting clicked on because your readership is probably made out of bloggers who have trained themselves not to click on their own ads; unfortunately, they are also unlikely to click on another blog's ads.
If you are in a niche where your readership is not mainly made out of bloggers, I think you might be more successful with adsense. -

@jsinkeywest
"I say everyone should click the hell out of each other 24/7 you got to EAT."
"And for the record I have many times clicked ads just to help a person I thought may need the support but if they got money and it's multi author or whatever I don't click much."
I say that you should think twice before spilling your guts on public forums. Yes, it's high time for you to carefully read the Google adsense contract and to understand that posting here is "public".
(1) You just informed Google that you are prepared to breach the contract ... DUH!
(2) And you confessed to doing so in the past ...DUH!

"Is exchange clicking illegal? I mean, I'll click on yours if you click on mine kind of thing?"
YES! Collusion is an agreement, usually secretive, which occurs between two or more persons to deceive, mislead, or defraud others. You entered a Google adsense contract that prohibits you from doing what you suggest in your sentence above.

I don't know if its accurate to say most people don't click ads. Google makes millions a year from AdSense and Adwords. I've had AdSense on my site since January. I'm still testing. I just started getting clicks in February. This month is sad so far.
When I visit another site and the info is good I click the ads. I refuse to let myself be psyched out by "ad blindness" theories. Publishers are continuing to make money from AdSense obviously because people do find the ads a benefit.
I'm in the middle of having changed my niche about a month or so ago from focusing on blogging to SE (Search Engines etc...)A focused niche is vital to making money with AdSense. But some do make money without one. It takes time for your target market to find you with a niche and to produce enough content for the crawlers to know what your site is about and begin to send that traffic.
I like the mindset that said we gotta eat and we should be more supportive of blogs that have AdSense instead of ignoring them. Why let Google sit on the money publishers should be getting for carrying their advertisers. I'm not promoting anything illegal but that we should not purposely ignore ads because of a trend on the web. Bloggers work hard on their sites.
I love when I go to a blog and find ads that I'm interested in. Not only can I help that blogger but I find something of interest, what a win win. I don't ignore ads. I ignore the "attitude" that says we should ignore them on blogs. That's just crazy. Thanks!--good discussion topic for bloggers. -
I spent time this morning thinking why have bloggers go on your site at all.They stay two seconds they ask you to do stuff they have no intention of
returning,alot are just running a numbers scam.Or they think they're some guru all of a sudden.If you think about it, I know in actual proof cause I have a niche travel blog that makes great money and no bloggers go on there.So think about that.
I have seen people say DO NOT stumble my blog pls.these people know the deal.
ps if you have adsense on a blog that has blogger traffic you will make nothing,on a niche travel heavy keyworded blog that I post once a week to makes 5-7 a day not much but that 2-3 hundred a month works for me.Want to change your wallet change your primary focus,besides most bloggers are jerks anyway.
And to all the people that don't click ads must be nice to have moma's money cause most people in this world need money so click a ad cheapskate what's it costing you.jerky -
Above I said: "I never click adsense ads or any other ads on blogs." This is the truth. However, when it comes to finding my stolen content on a splog then I click the crap out of every adsense ad on the splog, prior to making a formal complaint to Google and to all the other advertisers, as well as, to the web host.
Remarkably, I have found that clicking the crap out of the adsense ads and reporting splogs to Google can often bring about a happy ending faster than a DMCA complaint does.
@Showbizchika
I hope you understand that everything we post here can be found using Google searches. So if you think your cute little: "We put an ads to earn money so lets help each other to earn..:;-)" has gone unnoticed then you would be foolish indeed. It amounts advertising your eagerness to breach your own Google adsense contract and to encourage others to do likewise. -

@machinehuman
Say what? You mean you haven't made your billions from the Google empire yet? No problem. Take the shortcut. Write a book on becoming an adsenselessness millionaire and you'll find suckers falling all over themselves to click to purchase a copy.

@sayzlim
"If you are looking for content, it is normal to click on ads".
Are you smoking something strange? Content is found in blog posts, not in the ads. Blog posts are the original writing of bloggers that one sometimes finds sandwiched in between the all the Google adsense and other click me ads that cover many blogs today. -

I think if Google is wise they are checking any thread on the web that talks about AdSense and will use it to understand the physche that has been created to keep users from using their ads--or any ads. It has worked.
This is a great discussion. It proves a theory I have that "Ad blindness" is a myth. People are "brainwashed" to think of blogs as something other than what they are-- publications. A fear mentality has been created. People do not click ads because they are afraid Google will do something bad to them which leaves the playing ground free for a few to earn from advertising programs created to do just that---earn revenue.
This is a social network, totally different mentality than a business network where no one would be discussing "if" they should make money. Blog PUBLISHERS provide a great and unique service to the search community no other group can provide.
I like Blog Catalog out of all the social networks because it focuses on bloggers as a community in a way others do not and it's organized better.
But for business networking I would look for groups on Blog Catalog and other sources where you don't have to explain why you want to make money online. Its a real waste of time and energy to do that, when you could be working on ways to improve your business.
The bottom line, there would be no world wide web without advertising. Every one here advertises something if you choose to advertise free its a choice.
But few if any publications can survive on or off line without advertising and marketing. I'm a writer and blog publisher. I place ads and they serve several purposes.
I don't know about others but I can use the money they produce. Think about it, who questions the purpose of advertising in a publication? When you read a magazine or newspaper and decide to contact an advertiser do you hesitate? Of course not. -
I treat adsense much like any other link on the site. If it interests me, i click it.
When I visit sites that are relevant to me, the ads should be relevant too. And many of the sites advertising through adsense gives some really good information. If you can get information you need and at the same time support the blogger, why wouldn't you click on one? -

Unfortunately Sis, we have no right to force anyone here. Please bear in mind that clicking ads is differ from reading ads (www.readyou.blogs.ie). For those who hate ads just use adblocker software as Timethief and others do. For all that have weird hobby, which is just love to display ads, please remind your visitors that your ads is forbidden to read.
-
Well someone out there is clicking on them, Adsense is a multi million dollar industry, multi billion probably.

Bet my $%# - no body does but expects others to !!!

This is so silly, how much does it really hurt to click on an ad? You can even press the shift key and open it in another window, which keeps it from interrupting where your reading...I have clicked on them, and found some really good deals, and also have found junk, but, I just use my pointer finger and click it right off...No big deal. It takes a nanosecond to do. I like the ads on the Blogs; it helps me find places on the internet that I would have never known were there! Just my humble opinion, and if it helps a fellow blogger make a few extra dollars all the better.

I do when it is something I am curious about. My highest adsense clicks came from my article about CNG vehicles
-
I was very anti-Adsense but re-added it to my blogs several months ago and have been pleased. Won't ever be a millionaire from the profits (or be able to quit my day job), but it's a nice addition to my bank account. I played around with location, color, look to have it be noticeable without "LOOK AT ME ! I am a site covered with ads!"
I am now far more aware of Adsense ads on other peoples' blogs and if it is selling something that interests me, yes I will click. -
I personally will click on 1 - 2 ads during a visit to any blog i enjoy. I believe it feeds good karma back and the author deserves a little help, for a little blog I do ok. I only click on ads that interest me and i spend a min or two on the sponsors site. I have even made purchases this way in my life

What a great discussion. I actually learned a lot about Google AdSense. I've debating putting it on my blog and am still up in the air, but I got some great information out of this discussion!
-
I may get in trouble with adsense for writing this, but...live free...is my motto...Soooooo, I am wondering about this...because of this discussion, and I also see adsense advertisements on here, if anyone of us should click on it, would it jeopardize blog catalogs contract with them, because after all this discussion is drawing attention to the ads. I have a feeling it would if it were my blog!...but I am new to all this, so I could be wrong which isn't unusual!
-
Well, I think the blogcatalog people put some adsense in this page because they want us (blogcatalog members) to click it.
Those people who will get into trouble are those who click on ads on their own page. for example, if you have adsense in your blog, and you click on it often, just to get earnings, you'll get in trouble with google if it finds out.

Nope, not a good idea I think. Don't want to be banned by Google.
I don't know how they can find out, timetheif actually provided some reasons, but just in case, I'm not doin anythin like that. Let nature takes its course.
If you want to click, for whatever reason, just click. But I'm making no exchange deal.

Yes, I do click ads. If I am reading a blog or am on a website that I enjoy, I make sure to look at the ads and see if there's anything that would be useful or of interest to me, and I click them if I do find something. If I don't find anything useful or interesting, I don't click them. Simple as that!
