Seeing how Labor Day will be upon us here in the states, it came to my mind that blogging for the most part is work and a lot of it.
Of course their is nothing physical involved in this type of work, but work all the same. At least to me. I have been building websites for many years and this is my first go at a blog.
I have been reading many articles and website/blogs about blogging and the majority of these have considered blogging a hobby.
Do you consider your blogging a hobby? Are one of the goals you set for your blog monetary? How many hours a week to you spend writing to your blog. How many hours in a day does your blog enter your mind?
My goals are many and making money to a degree is one of them. I consider blogging now to be much more then a hobby and I have become passionate about it. I try and grow each day to make it better and yes it enters my brain many times in a day.
What say you?

Blogging is definitely a hobby for me and only started when I lost my job... but since I'm unemployed and I'm looking for ways to fill my time it has given me the best of both worlds.. work & hobby! This way I don't mind all the "work" that is required, it actually gives me something to do each day!

blogging is my way to express myself but on my list of priorities it falls down to the bottom of the list. It is a hobby to me, one I do enjoy but one that I have to be in the mood for. Lately it's been sparse but as winter approaches it will speed up as my other hobbies like gardening and hiking wind down.

I firmly believe that blogging is therapeutic for the most part. Sort of like the arts in school, recess or drama, music, playing games. This blogging and interacting is healthy and if we did not have it, we would be going out more, calling more and having people over more, or turning inward.
It is very healthy to blog. -
I consider it a hobby but a hobby I work hard on. I just started blogging a few weeks ago but I am really enjoying it. I think about my entries a lot and work hard to prepare my pictures and content for potential readers. I blog about things I enjoy and those who have my interests in common, I want them to enjoy the content. Even if you are just stopping by and my interests are different from yours, I want you to enjoy the visual

Questions: Do you consider your blogging a hobby? Are one of the goals you set for your blog monetary? How many hours a week to you spend writing to your blog. How many hours in a day does your blog enter your mind?
Answers: I don't choose to monetize my blogs so I suppose blogging is my hobby ie. my passion. I have no intention of making an income from blogging, and I do not bother to keep track of my hours spent on blogging, though I could determine the answer if I chose to. -

In a sense, I guess it's a hobby since I won't monetize it.
Yet, now that I'm doing speaking gigs there's a professional connection which makes me take it more seriously than say, my scrapbooking. -

it started off as a hobby, something to do. It's now elevated to an obsession, as has coming to blogcatalog every day for the discussions! I don't know what I'm going to do when I start to get super busy at work this month and can only participate first thing in the morning and then late at night =(

Ever since I was a kid, I kept a diary/journal (with a little corny lock) under my bed. Blogging is no different to what I did back then with an exception that it could be read by many on-line. So I can say it is a hobby. It's something I like to do to escape from it all! And I don't earn money from blogging neither am I interested in the future.

My current bloggling site is somewhat of a hobby. Yes I hope that somewhere down the future it is able to pay for its own monthly costs. If it makes more, even better.
However, all other future sites like the next one on the way, has a goal of helping a particular group of people but I still intend on placing ads on it (I also don't consider this new site a blog). My end goal is to create a number of sites that keep me up and running financially so I can keep the sites themselves up and continue to make more. I have fun doing it and I dread having to go back to 9-5:30pm (some cases 9-11pm). Luckily the old job is there available at any time as freelance, I'm just hoping I don't have to touch it again =P-
Took awhile but I see more blogs that are saying they would like to make a few buckaroos from their work. I love doing my blog, but a little scratch is never unwelcome. I knew the first round of answers would be from the hard core bloggers. Either way, I appreciate all your blogs/sites and wish everyone here the best.
