There are people who don't cook? even once in a while?

    Jeebus

I cook, three times a day, every day. Except for maybe today. I think I'm going to order pizza.

I can't believe that people don't cook their own food, this is hilarious
    2. acousticguitarist
can you order one for me as well, i think i'll eat as well today

      Anok,

I felt the same way, but discovered that quite a few people really don't. Found that out, trying to figure out why so many metropolitan apartments had "kitchens" that were barely adequate for storing and preparing a TV dinner.

For someone with a more-than-modest income, no family, a busy schedule, and little interest in cooking, it almost makes sense.

I wouldn't want to live that way, though.

Goof for you @ anok...you save money for cooking

I used to prepare 3 meals a day, every day, but now I cook about half the time. The rest of the time we either eat takeaway, go out, order in, or snack out of the fridge (fruit, cheese, cold meat plate).

Tonight I cooked: steak, peas, garlic potatoes.
  4. webmoney
    Sounds yummy @ SweetViolet
    1. SweetViolet
It was...I'm a good cook. But I've been cooking for 50 years, so I like to let somebody else do it once in a while.
    2. Norski

      Excellent.
  5. ranist22
I cook at least once a day, unless there are leftovers or I'm busy. Yes, people do still cook!
  6. webmoney
Yeah...for me it is better to cook my own food than just buy outside, but sometimes the laziness kicks in
  7. dosox
    I'm a good cook

    Hiya,
I cook all the time, as it's less expensive than eating out and it tends to be healthier for my kids. Secretly, though, I hate cooking. I do it cause I have to.
    1. Norski
Good reasons. And, kudos for placing prudence over preference.
  9. webmoney
@ dosox, good for you...are you a chief?
  10. webmoney
@ forloveorfunny, you are a sweet and loving mother to your kids
  11. sensico
cook? me?...no, not unless I want to impress a guy and even then, I tend to go for guys who can cook. I just order something. I only know how to cook if Im given detailed instructions in like a cook book.
    1. Norski
Happily, I think it's more acceptable for men to admit knowing how to cook now, than in my youth (back when all we had were wood-burning computers).
  12. webmoney
I hope you can find a guy who loves to cook @sensico
    1. sensico
My current boyfriend isn't much of a cooker, though he did try to cook on New Years Eve to impress me I think, but that doesn't matter because he satisfies my hunger in other ways

I don't consider myself a good cook, although I have several awesome dishes in my repertoire. I do not like to dine out more than once a week. Most restaurant food is terrible for you and they give you enough to feed yourself for a week.
    1. Norski
Agreed, about quality and quantity of (most) restaurant food.

Don't sell your own cooking skills short, though. I suggest you consider this: the sort of complex, tricky, cookery that's on many cooking shows - and written about - is for professionals and inspired hobbyists.

What I think of as 'real' cooking, the sort that ordinary people do around the world, is often more a matter of cutting up a selection of food into pieces (often between the size of an olive and a hen's egg), and heating it.

Depending on the culture, the heating is usually done by dumping the pieces in water and boiling it, dropping them into boiling fat, or (more efficiently) stirring them on a very hot pan, on a small amount of fat.

It's not that difficult, and lends itself to economies of scale: start out with meat, potatoes, vegetables, boiled until the meat and potatoes are 'done' all the way through, and you've got a stew for the day.

If you've got refrigeration, what's left over can be re-heated over and over, until it's gone.

Around the fourth or fifth day, you've got a real treat on you hands - IMHO.

Cheese sandwiches is where my cooking skills have reached.

@ Calais50, some restaurant yes...I don't like how the way they cook the food...Special occasions only thats the time we go out with my wife.
  17. ArsenicCookies
take out several times a week, remainder - microwave or george foremen grill compatible meals. I can cook pretty well, but do not enjoy it enough to make a habit out of it
  18. webmoney
It is good to know that we had diff. ideas on how to cook or just order some food.
  19. chicky401
I eat out at least once a day but is typically a quick and cheap lunch. I'm bus driver so usually out for lunch. Cook dinner though most of the time except occasionally going to Red Lobster yummy

    2. Anok
I'm with you. Cooking is essential to life, how could you not know how?
  23. jackpayne
My kitchen skills should make me the envy of any woman seeking a real man. My microwave savvy is second to none. I can open cans. And, my know-how of the correct combinations of fruits and / or vegetables to put in my blender is perfection personified.

    Ladies, eat your heart out.
  24. Norski
My wife cooks, and I've threatened to a few times. My contribution is grilling burgers, potatoes, or whatever, on the weekend.

Two benefits: lower cost; better quality. Three, if you count good, simple taste.
  25. destinedforwhat
i've always like the saying "the only reason i have a kitchen is because it came with the house". i rarely cook. it's just me really. its hard to cook for one and i don't do well with leftovers. if its edible right outta the fridge or microwavable it's good. cereal is always good too.
  26. webmoney
Diff. people diff. ideas of cooking and some people don't cook love this group OMG
  27. legbamel
I quite like to cook. We usually eat out once a week or so, but otherwise I do the cooking, including on the grill, except for rare occasions. I prefer to make my own pizza, rather than ordering, and I have a number of things that I make for dinner that don't take too long to cook, so that my dawdlers have time to eat and do homework and play before bedtime. I may not do anything fancy, but during the week dinner will be something healthy and tasty.
  28. webmoney
I love to cook but cooking is not my hobby
  29. Bayho
I like cooking but I hate the after math. it's cute cooking with your spouse and cleaning up after dinner together but that's it! haha I would say that eating out would be a weekend thing! well to nice restaurants of course. i would have to agree that it is a bit too much to eat out everyday. but with some of our schedules it's impossible to get dinner on the table in time
  30. rizache
    Buy everything.
  31. webmoney
You must be inspired when you cook with your wife after cleaning up hmm
  32. webmoney
You must have lots of money to buy everything hmmm... donate some of it OMG..
  33. urbanwitch
I like to cook every once in a while. But I do most of my cooking during the holidays.
  34. webmoney
    Good for you UrbanW...

  37. LGramlich

Your lucky...you have a mentor like your mom
  41. Svelmoe
90% of the time I cook the food myself.
Only when I'm really tired after work do I consider take-away.

Cooking isn't really difficult, it is just a matter of finding something you like to eat and then - well make it.
    1. webmoney
So, only 10% that you are lazy cooking your own food wow....you must be a good cook then
    2. Svelmoe
Not really - I mean I know my way around a stove and what not - but it isn't that much a matter of being "good", just a matter of wanting to cook.

It isn't difficult dropping some stuff into a pot and cook it
  42. Nichetraffic
Must admit I am rather spoiled. Eat out mainly or friends cook for me
    1. webmoney
You are lucky to have friends cook for your food
  43. Nichetraffic
I agree with you there. I am blessed with good friends
  44. dratiffarid
I usually eat from outside. But, I know how to cook too.. No time! Too busy with work.
  45. KiefersCorner
I always cook or make my own food.

Not only is it the healthiest way to go, it saves you money.

Really my wife cooks all our food, i can boil eggs LOL
  46. webmoney
Good for you my friend, you have a wife cooking your own food and of course you saves lots of money.
  47. NutriGirl
I love cooking and we hardly ever buy anything ready-made. To me it's the best way to know what you put in your body and be able to choose quality ingredients. My husband often says that it's pointless to eat out as I cook better than some restaurants.
  48. webmoney
Yes..it is good to cook our own food which is true that we will know what kind of food that we are putting-in into our body.
  49. webmoney
    I like home made
  50. Mariya
I love to cook and I am happy my family loves my cooking. Of course, we go to the restaurants, but for special occasions only (or when we travel).
    1. webmoney
They are so lucky you are a good cook
  51. LynneaUrania
I cook for my boyfriend, myself, and anyone else who comes for dinner and/or breakfast. We don't usually do restaurants except for an occasional pizza or Souplantation.
    1. webmoney
I bet your boyfriend love you so much
  52. GabrielGadfly
I'm bad. I eat the majority of my meals out. I really should do more cooking at home, but I'm lazy.
    1. webmoney
You can motivate yourself by watching food network...that's what I do before when I was so lazy to do it...especially in cooking at home...
  53. jadeflower
I love to cook but usually during the weekends the kitchen is closed. I need a break.
  54. webmoney
That's good...you still have time to cook even though it's only in the weekends
  55. segap
always i cook for my own
  56. webmoney
That is good..you save lots of money
