I disable R click on some of my blog for many reasons. Like to know who are doing the same and why?

Could you give us some of your reasons?

    1.No copy system
    2. I dont use text are code on blog, If they want to copy my tips code they should download it. That keep the visitor for sometime on my blog.
    3. I put funny text in the message when anyone R click

which site of yours has the disabled right click? I want to show you how stupid that is and how much it annoys people like me, who are able to steal it anyway and put it up in a public place for your humiliation!

Your blog listed here in BC is not one of them.

I wouldn't steal your material, but disabling the right click would slow me down by roughly five to twenty seconds, depending on what I was after.

Disabling right click functions is an annoyance, an inconvenience: but certainly does not increase security.

Why would you do it for some and not all? and what PetLvr said I was able to right click on that site.

If you don't want people to steal your photos then just crop them or resize them to normal blog size so that they never get the original, but using js to prevent right clicking is stupid and I personally use right click all the time to open links in a new tab. You should give some thought to how much you're going to really piss off your visitors

Disabling people's ability to use their computers the way they want to use them? Not good.
    1. achuna
I should think of that before

MarkStoneman said what I did, later, only more compactly.

What's the point? Ctrl+U views the page source in Firefox, and you can drag images to the address bar if you want to steal them (Note: if they have a hyperlink, then you will go to the link instead of the image address... but downloading a web page copies it into your cache anyway).

Ctrl+C copies text, Ctrl+V pastes text, etc.

It's a wasted effort and the JavaScript adds an unnecessary burden to the page load times.

I'm with the 'don't disable' group.

    Disabling right-click
    • Annoys interested visitors
    • At best slows down thieves - and annoys them, too: which might encourage them to do real damage, while they're there
On the other hand, if a blogger/webmaster's goal is to annoy visitors as much as possible, I'll offer these features as the start of a to-do list:
    • Disable the "back" function - this was a favorite for ill-advised commercial sites, for a while
    • Make everything flash
There's more, but that'll do for for a start.

Thanks now I give up R click

      You're quite welcome!

And, best wishes with your blog(s).

    One more thing:

In general, I think it's best to leave the visitor with as many options as possible.

    Example:

I used to leave the font undefined in my websites, so that the visitor's default font type and size would display. I'm not doing that now, after noting that defined fonts are very, very widely used - and browsers generally allow visitors to override defined fonts.

The same goes for navigation (more of a website, than a blog, concern): I generally use a very familiar hierarchical system, allowing visitors to decide where they want to go: even if it's across the hierarchy, to a different section. (Most use the "back" button, anyway.)

The point? Visitors to a blog or website are used to being able to decide what they see, what order they see it in - and how they use their right mouse button.

Disappoint that expectation, and a webmaster or blogger has reduced the satisfaction a visitor experiences. Not the best idea, generally.

      hi,

i only upload images to my blog that are low resolution images and aren't larger than 300 pixels.

i also add "©2008 Nina Kuriloff" to all of my images......

this is the best i can do to prevent people from wanting to steal my images.

btw, i fully realize that it's easy to remove the copyright info that i cover all of my artwork with.

i have my artwork on a website that disables the "right click" and i truly like having my work on sites where the "right click" is disabled in spite of the viewpoints expressed on this thread!

i guess that "different strokes for different folks" applies to this discussion.

      have a good day, everyone!

I agree heartily with everything Norsky said. When I visit a website, I expect to be treated as a responsible person, and I try to treat my viewers as such too.

Now, there are many ways to steal whatever from a website.
No need to embed your pages with codes to avoid this.
if people copy from your website and link back to your page, that will not be bad things.

I can't stand disabled right click, I don't use it.
  12. DrowseyMonkey
I've never noticed, but then again, I've never tried to copy something that was on someone's page. I don't understand why people would be so against it? I mean, if you're not suppose to copy something, why get upset about it? And why would you even notice if right click was disabled unless you were trying to steal something?
  13. bkerensa
If you disable right click you will not prevent people from copying content from your site.

All they need to do is use the GET HTTP method and see the source of your site.
    1. Florence
... or simply make a screen copy ;-)
  14. Florence
Nah. It makes navigation clumsy, is insulting to people who visit my site, and won't prevent theft anyway.

The day someone steals one of my images for profit, I will first celebrate (you're all invited ;-D ), and then decide what to do, but frankly my concern at the moment is to get people to see my images and visit my site, not to drive them away with weird interfaces.
