As a blogger, I've always had a desire to be able to publish a self authored book one day. Do any of you share this dream?

Yeah. But it only stays a dream if you don't do anything with it! If you really want it, do anything you can to make it possible

I'm writing a story myself and I want to publish it one day ^_^!

But I started writing way before I started my blog though. Writing for my blog is a good way to stay in this writing process.

Writing books will be a thing of the past. Watch this space to how the publishing world will evolve.

I'm currently working on a novel. I'm about 2/3 done. It's been a lot of work, but it's been enjoyable, too.

I'm going to try publishing it via traditional means-- and agent and then a publishing company-- before thinking of self-publishing.

    We'll see how it goes.

I'm sure it will go perfectly fine!! And...I want to read it ^_^!!

Well, writing a book is a lot different than blogging. Getting the plot all tied together in something so lengthy, creating character, etc.... It's hard to make sure it all reads evenly.

But thank you for the vote of confidence. I will keep that as a little inspiration for those moments that my energy is flagging.

      I want to read more!
    4. ThriftShopRomantic
What you mean that first chapter didn't have you heading for the hills?

You ARE a sucker for punishment.
    5. TJlubrano
You'll let us know when your done writing right? I really want to read it. Just think of Claire and me! We'll be waiting!

I certainly know what you mean! In the end it has to be a solid story and good to read. Not leaving any gaps or having an incomplete storyline. It really is different than blogging.
    6. crpitt
@thriftypants No way! Also I was wondering if you have had any visual ideas about the characters? That would be fun.

@TJ I have read the first chapter and it was great!
    7. TJlubrano
      @ Claire - Oh really! How cool !! I can't wait!
    8. ThriftShopRomantic
@TJ- Yep, I keep catching stuff that just wouldn't logically happen that way, and having to go back and fix things.

@Claire- I do, actually. I've drawn them a long time ago-- made some illustrations. They're not great, but they help. I like, too, to base characters on the physical characteristics or mannerisms of people I'm familiar with in some way. I think that helps make them seem a little more realistic.
    9. crpitt
I would love to see them sometime.
    10. TJlubrano
@ TSR - Oh I'm familiar with that as well. As long as you keep enjoying the writing process, then it isn't that bad.
Oh what you said to Claire. The characters in my story also have familiarities with people I know. It's funny, because while I type I keep seeing them in my mind and it makes it even more funny to write ^_^.
    11. ThriftShopRomantic
@Claire- If I get a chance, I'll scan one of 'em.

@TJ- Definitely having some sort of basis makes a huge difference. Obviously you end up altering things-- the character ends up being someone wholly new in the end. But that basis in reality is a big help!
    12. TJlubrano
@ TSR - Very true! It gives you some guidance and can help you to start/keep writing!

      Good for you!!!

What will your novel be about? I am really interested! You better let us know when you finish writing it and it become published. Or I can wait to see it on the Best sellers list.

      Good luck with your writing!

That's why I started my blog - a lot of it is material for my book and helps keep me writing daily..... I've got a couple ideas for a book that I have been tossing around for years....

Although I am just a reader at present but I also have a dream of writing a book in future.
My dreams do not come true, but just a few.
  6. nogueira
I'm working on a novel and the chapters are posting in one of my blogs.

As a child I wrote several things that I thought were brilliant, they were not.

Lately I have toyed with a gnome esque children's story and even more lately I have considered writing two other tales.
    1. TJlubrano
Cool! if you start writing and turn into a story...I just wanna let you know that I wanna read it too ^_^!
    2. crpitt
I may take you up on that
    3. ThriftShopRomantic
I think you could do some terrific, funny illustrated tales. I, too, would volunteer to read.
    4. TJlubrano
Yeey! Just shout or send an owl, whatever works!

Oh what TSR said, illustrated tales! That would be really cool too!
    5. crpitt
Well just for now I think I may do a short doodle story about the mumborg and amputation, maybe geared towards helping families get use to the idea. Which is what I do on my blog, but was thinking of making it more general.
  9. mariosa
Yes I do Iam in the process. I have some good work already.
  10. LittleRusski
I'd love to write a book on nutrition, healthy eating etc. One day I will.
  11. HollytheHousewife
Yes,I'm gonna do it one of these days
  12. crazyTsu
When I was young I started writing one... then one day I re-read what I wrote and embarrassed to hell and burned it all up !
  13. HollytheHousewife
    Well ya shouldn't done that
  14. Floormodel
no, not really. It would take me a lifetime to write enough for a book. Until then, I live vicariously through my dearest friend who has written two books of his own and kindly allowed me to participate in both. As he prepares to write a sequel to one of his works (the best in my humble opinion) I too prepare to be a part of it.
  15. BlogDogW2
Yes but at a later date.
  16. geekchick
I'm about halfway through the preliminary research stage of a nonfiction book.
  17. Richer44
I would love to write a book! At some point in time I plan on turning some of the contents of my blog into hard copy, written form.

As well, I have toyed with the idea of writing childrens books. I think I will stick with writing my blog for now but my name will be on a published book sometime down the road!

    Absolute!! Totally! Biggest dream/wish/fantasy/reality desire!

My hubby lead an interesting life and wants me to be his ghost writer to write about his work and travels. When hubby talks to friends about his adventures, they always tell him to write his life story. He doesn't like to write much but he loves telling stories of his past and in fact, he is a fantastic story teller. For him, I would love to write his story.

Your question reminded me of a quote can't remember author "Everyone has at least one book in them"!
    1. mariosa
It is like, before you die you must do three things:
Have a child, plant a tree and write a book.
  21. agapelife
I have made my dream a reality and now have a second blog on my novels and will be providing tips and upcoming interviews with first time published authors in future posts!
  22. davedol
A book? Oh…a dream, a whim. A muse! A book. Can I turn a word into something more then a word? Am I a poet? Do I have talent?

Nah. I am a blogger. If I wanted to write a book, I’d have done it already.
  23. marcusmarcus
I'll publish a book once.. it's a matter of time!
  24. RoflopagosIsland
I have one milling around in my brain...just a matter of getting off my ass and actually writing.
