I was wondering for those active in the dating game:

1) Have you ever sought dating help & from who?

I myself am a huge fan of Carlos Xuma. I found his material to me the most complete and useful.

Who do you follow?

The whole idea of a dating expert or dating advice seems counterproductive to me. If you have to be advised how to act to attract the opposite sex, what does that mean? That you have to continue faking it and following the expert plan for the rest of your life, or that the relationship falls apart as soon as you start to be yourself?

I see what you mean. At the time I was actually ashamed that ‘I need help’ but when I say I was awkward and shy – I mean it.

The thing is that I didn’t want to “fake it till you make” so yeah I did seek help. Most was pure crap - I only found some that was solid advice. At this point in my life I’m myself and very comfortable with who I am.

Maybe some people need a dating expert to tell them the simple things. You know like brush your teeth and stop talking about your ex-girlfriends/boyfriends. Maybe even to help others who haven't dated a lot to spot the creeps.

WOW they have dating experts?? I knew they had singles websites but I didn't know you could get yourself an expert! No I wouldn't use any dating help, whether it be match making or expert. I have to chase the red flags away enough as it is now!

I agree that a lot of people need help with their dating questions. For instance, today we did a photo shoot for dating site pictures for a male client (we typically provide services to women). And yes, it was a great help for him because how else would he know how to take flattering pictures that present you in a good light? As a woman, I advised him on the kind of expressions women find attractive on dating site photos, etc. First, he was stiff, wouldn't smile, and looked nervous, but we got him to where he was able to relax, smile and be himself. I think if it wasn't for pros, he'd never be able to get the kind of results.

There are certain things one can convey through pictures on a dating site (and that is just one of many dimentions of dating). When people don't know these things, they may come off awkward, stiff, even angry or upset. Knowing how to look confident, relaxed and cheerful is the key to taking good pictures for online dating.
