I was wondering how many of you actually enjoy blogging as I find that a lot of blogs out there are specifically created to make money.
I have my own personal blog which I love writing on. I think my skills are a little poor, but hopefully they will improve over time. I get a real buzz when I get a new comment, RSS subscriber or comment!
My blog is www.gxpblog.com
What do you blog about, and do you honestly enjoy it?

Yeah. I find a lot of them, too. -
No monetization-- I enjoy every minute of it. I do perpetually worry, "Oh no, what if I don't have something decent to say today?" (because I have a regular blogging schedule I try to keep.)
But it always works out. And creating something from nothing is forever amazing to me.-
I usually try brainstorming a few ideas and writing them down. Then I go into the blogger admin page and write the titles and a summary for myself of what to cover. I then save it as a draft.
Then, each week I try to finish one of those articles/posts. I also write other bits and bobs in the week as well (although they are more common features or odd news bits).
Maybe that will help? :-)

I do mine because they're topics in which I'm interested. I make no money from either of them. I do include links to buy songs on my music blog, but mostly because I think people ought to support the artists that they like by actually buying their music. I've never sold one, but the links are there if anyone wants to actually buy a song. You can't download them from my blog.

I still don't see how people make money at blogging. I do mine because I enjoy it, love to write. And it does help market myself for other writing gigs. So in that way I guess I make money from it. But actually making money from people visiting the blog--I think those blogs are few and far between.

I blog because I love it. I think that at least most people have some small hope/want that MAYBE they could make money off of theirs, even if they love doing it. However you really have to be unique and different these days with all of the competition out there, so not everyone wants to take the time to bust their ass to do so. Blogging because you love it is probably the best way to go, I think.

Hi everyone
I just left a long comment that is sort of do with this question, in another thread in here.
I am defiantly only doing it as a personal hobby, and for the enjoyment I get from it. It would be nice If I could make a little bit of hobby money out of it, but I am not fussed with that side of it. I have only made Aus$1.70 in three years! LOL However I am starting to go through extra bandwidth each month now tho, especially since I have become more involved with it tho eeek!
I don't want to start cluttering my page up with ads everywhere on it. I am currently checking out other people's blogs, and there are so many I can tell that are just about making money ! Fair enough tho, if that's a business to them.
So in answer to the OP's question, I genuinely enjoy blogging, and not for money

I genuinely enjoy blogging. I have a personal blog where I think about life, vent, and work on my writing skillz, yo. My most recent post was about all the fun I'm having getting rejected by places where I've applied for jobs.
When I started my blog, I didn't know how web pages "worked" and really wanted to learn. I installed some things that you get with Blogger, and instantly felt like a pseudo-expert. I didn't know how to install a site meter or counter, and didn't want to be embarrassed if no one visited. I have Adsense tucked away at the bottom just so I can see how many hits I get, but hardly check the reports. I'm more jazzed when people put thoughtful comments on my blog than to know how many hits I got.
I find that I'm more concerned with content than anything, and don't like to spend time adding and tweaking widgets and such. I also realize I will never learn everything I want to learn about the inner-workings of web pages, but will learn what I can at a snail's pace.
I'm gonna check out your blog now! -
Wait -- how is your blog a "personal" blog, as you put it? It's a gaming blog! (Cool if you're into that, though.)

I just vent. I don't write rough drafts or anything. I just type. I don't use ads. I just started about a month ago, so i decided to join a few blog directory/community sites. I was really disappointed to see how many blogs were solely devoted to making money.
There are so few blogs with original, unique content. I assumed i'd find nothing but blogs devoted to individuals sharing their opinions on everything, offering their own perspective on life, etc. I haven't found many like that. The only blogs that offer strong (and maybe controversial) opinions tend to be political blogs that are just regurgitating what a thousand other blogs are saying. There isn't enough uniqueness. In fact, i think i'll make a blog post about lame blogs that offer nothing unique or interesting. -
It's quite refreshing to see how many people on here are "people". If that makes sense!? For me it was beginning to feel that nearly everyone on blogcatalog was just trying to pump out SEO/marketing blogs to try and make cash. I get sent so much spam each day on my shoutbox and via e-mail.
Whilst I do have Adsense on my blog, it is not my sole purpose to make a living off blogging. I write about stuff I'm really interested in as it doesn't seem to fit on my original site/forum. I created this gaming blog with a budget of £10 (for the domain name). I'm hoping that I will make just enough on Adsense a year to keep paying the domain name costs. Anything else is just a bonus. Anything less can be covered/afforded :-)-

You're not alone there buddy. They make my skin crawl too. Welcome to BlogCatalog, where every successful internet marketer is a 19 year old from the Philippines and every SEO "expert" has a page rank of 0. Go figure.
