I have just started to get at least 100 visitors a day. It is hard process to get and maintain traffic.

Yes, I've been stuck at 30-40 a day for a while now, though I do seem to get more comments than many bloggers who say they get hundreds or thousands, indicating that I'm at least getting quality traffic, if not quantity, so I try to see my glass as half full.

Question: Do you get less than 100 visitors a day?
Answer: No. I would probably quit if I had so few visitors because my blogs are not new.
Look if you are blogging on how to make money by blogging then you are in the largest blogging niche of all and the competition is stiff. The A and B list money bloggers get the lion's share of the traffic as they write original content and have a faithful readership. The rest of the bloggers in that niche simply re-blog the same stuff over and over again and expect to make an income from it. IMO you ought to consider starting a blog in another niche unless you can write very high quality original content and have marketing skills.-
I do have other blogs in different niches. This is the first one I started out with and want to do this for fun and also make a little money along the way. Its more like I am doing this to see how far this blog will go. I am adding a little me into my blog which makes my blog a little different from other blogs. Thanks for your comment though and yes, the make money online niche is heavily saturated.

Well if your answer is yes, I have one tip to get you more. Comment on the blogs that are in your niche that has a dofollow blog and a top commentors widget. Try to give them quality comments and make your way on the top commentors widget. I have been doing this for about 2 days and the traffic sure did increase. I have more tips on my blog but I aint leaving any link.

Increase traffic:
I look for blogging tips in the forum Discussion search box in the sidebar. I type in terms and I get results. I typed in "increase traffic" and got some links to many threads where this topic has been discussed. Maybe you would like to check them out

Thanks for links but I was just asking other BC members.
The links I posted are all to posts made to the BC forum by other BC members. The tags on this post are: blogging and traffic.
Do you want us to just post and restate what's already said and can readily be found by using the links? -- confused [shaking head]

I think it depends on what you want to to be. I have a personal poetry for example and it only occasionally gets over 100 hits. In fact somedays its below 10! Thats ok with me.
The point is :
i think its ok for some blogs to have low traffic if they are in very specific margin or are esoteric in content. -
Lol - hey, I just checked my Google Analytics and my blog has 11.35 visitors/day averaged over a month - ha, ha it's going to take me a loooong time to get to 100/day.
Truth is, I'd looove to get 100/day - that's my goal. I wish there was a magic pill for it. I know it's a niche blog, but, jeez I've been running it for 9 months now, you'd think it would be higher.
On the other hand, the average page view is consistently about 1.5 and the average time onsite is about one and a half minutes - from what I've told, most Web readers only last a few seconds. Plus, I get a steady stream of repeat visitors. So I must be doing something right?
Now if I can just get some of them to actually buy the products and services I'm (indirectly) marketing through the blog, life would feel a lot better:-)-
The magic is spread around your exposure. If you spend all your free time on BC you are wasting most of your time. BC does draw some visitors and rather targeted ones, but in the end this is only one of hundreds of good sources to put your name out at . Honestly 2 hours replying to blog posts rather than forums will net you hundreds of times more visitors over the long haul than an equal times on BC.

You won'd be getting very much traffic from organic searches for 6 mo. Google puts all new blogs in sandbox for the first 6 mo

Don't worry about traffic ... just enjoy what you're doing. Even if 10 or 20 people visit that's okay.
People get all hung up on that stuff and I don't know why. Like 1000s of visitors is some sort of validation that your blog is good. I visit blogs that have small traffic numbers and their posts are some of the best out there ... well written, interesting, thought provoking, fun ... etc.
It's all about you enjoying yourself. If you're only going to enjoy yourself if you have a huge following ... well,I dunno...that's not why I'm here so I have no advice on that.
Of course if you're looking to make money from your blog then I have no idea about that either...I find it hard to believe anyone makes a significant income from a blog anyway and I'm very suspicious when people tell me they do.-
I have been blogging three years, have a google rank of 5 and less than a 100 visitors. I have had low rank and higher traffic and I don't see that it makes much difference. so like you Drowsey I don't worry about it. I do the blog as a means to communicate just like my art, and for the people that count in my life it is something they enjoy.

I'd be delighted with 100 visitors a day!
Since I've joined BC, I've gone from an average of 5 a day, to 30-40.
However, I've found a trick to increase that: stop writing.
No kidding, I haven't posted anything in almost two weeks, and in the last 4 days, I've been getting 60+.
However, most of my hits are on one post that is about 3 weeks old, and the referrers are mostly search engines.
That's never happened before. Is there a reason why this silly post of mine has gotten so popular all of a sudden? Especially since the search term that seems to get me all these hits is "Steve-O", which is quite a popular search at the moment. -
100 a day... I'd be flabbergasted. I was getting about 25 a day, which is not bad for a personal blog with no specific theme. Then the appalling Westboro Baptist Church whackos linked to me and increased my readership to nearly 100 a day for a couple of weeks, and it has remained at about fifty a day since then.
-
Do I get more than 100 visitors per day? Heck no! I'm lucky if I get one or two. Of course I presently don't have the time to actively update my blogs yet, let alone start playing with facebook and twitter. Right now I'm sneaking this at work. BC has helped alot but hopefully I'll soon be in a position to do more.

You can jump through all of the SEO hoops, write interesting content, write creatively, comment on other people's blogs, return comments on your own blog, have a really great design, submit your blog to all of the search engines, other blog directories, use the proper meta descriptions, post a new blog daily (or at least four times a week), use every marketing trick in the book, have a blog that loads super fast, is viewable on every platform and browser, and you will still be asking the same question. "How do I get more traffic to my blog"?
Those who get most of the traffic are the bloggers who write about that very topic. And who are the thousands of visitors that they get monthly - others bloggers, who like moths to a light, are perpetually drawn to every site that promises to be the holy grail of traffic secrets only to find the same 'ol advice and tips that are recycled over and over and over. And if you question those bloggers undaunted leap of faith, they will attack you and call it blasphemy... as though you had told them there is no god. -

I notice that if I blog about musical instruments i get more than a hundred visits. If i stop blogging my visits are somewhere around 50. Then if i really push it, like for instance submit an interesting article on a directory then i get lots of hits for that one article. And I am just lazy to do that on regular days.

I don’t trust visitor stats. I own my domain name, and I get to see all the crap tossed out by the comment-spam software. Commercial blog sites don’t let this stuff thru; they have their tests to allow a comment. I get to see it all. Most of these “visitors” are not real human beings but random attempts to drop spam comments. I easily get 100 visitors a day created by software-generated visits to my site trying to drop spam comments. IF these are included in our metrics, then we have a lot less real human beings visiting our site. It’s sort of like our email. Do we count every spam email as an actual email? How much of our email is blocked by our email providers? Most. If you could actually see all the blocked email spam, and counted it as actual email, then our email stats would not be realistic.
I don’t know how this is measured by commercial blogging sites, and if fake visits are factored in or not. I would think Blogspot or Today and others would understand auto-bot visits. Perhaps comments that failed the comment test are not counted as geninue visit. I don’t know. Running my own domain name, I see what is going on. It might be worth asking your blog host that question. What is their metric for unique visitors? -

I get very few but right now, I'm jsut using my blog as a self improvement tool. I need some serious change to occur in my life. Might as well do it in a productive way. I'd love to have more visitors but I'm gracious for the ten or so people a day that grace my page.
Wow. I sound too perky for my own good. -
Getting traffic to your site is something you have to build. It is always good to register your site with the search engines. Also make sure your rss feed is up on running. Forming relationship by commenting on other people's blog will help your stat. Great information. You definitely have to make time for blogging if it is something you want to do.

We broke 100 people a day about 3 months in! We were just featured in a local paper...so it's good news all around. We must be doing something right. It helps to believe in what you're doing. Good things will always stem from that.
It's kind of exponential though. The more visitors you get, the more chances they'll share with others, which in turn brings you more visitors.
It's always good to set new goals, so we're aiming for 200 next. -
A quick way to gain more traffic is by using Digg.Com. I use it all the time. Everyday as a matter of fact. If you don't know about Digg.Com then let me tell you. Digg is basically an article, video,or picture submission website. What you would do if you have a "blog or website" and you post interesting articles, is submit those articles to Digg. If you have videos or pictures, submit them too! One thing to keep in mind when submitting content,is to have a unique niche. It would be extremely difficult to have a niche that says "Creating a Website". Trust me, you will not get any search traffic like that because the major sites already have swallowed that niche. Now what do I mean by search traffic? What does that have to do with digg.com? You see, when you post an article with a "unique niche" then it will normally be in the top of Google within 15 minutes. I post anywhere from 3 to 4 articles a day on Digg and it accounts for about 3 of my traffic. This is just one of the ways to get traffic. Focus more on posting comments on "already established websites" as well. Get in good with blog communities. Bold certain keyterms in your articles as well. I don't want to make this too dramatic so I will stop right there! Hope this helped!

I run a movie review blog.. have original content et al..
But still get a meager 2-3 visitors on days when I haven't posted anything new. On those days when I do, I get some 30-40 a day.. and then the slump begins again..
I wonder what the reason could be? And this discussion about 100+ visitors a day, sure doesn't help my blogger esteem..:( -
I average about 40 a day on my grammar blog and 15 a day on my music blog. I used to get more on the former but I let it lapse rather badly to focus on the latter, which is easier and more fun. I find writing for both of them satisfying, for different reasons, and enjoy any interaction. I'm not focused on the numbers, though. I had to go look them up to post this! I blog for my enjoyment. The rest is just a bonus.
-
Why is it not possible to do something in this society for the sheer fun of the thing without worrying about how to achieve a "number", or a "goal", or "rating",or any thing at all? Why do I even have to ask such a thing? Have we completely lost the ability as a society to love and enjoy?
-
Yes it's possible and some of us haven't lost the ability to love what we do without developing a bean counter mentality. Others never had the same focus that we had in the first place. Every day we see people enter the blogsphere, who are preoccupied with attracting ad clickers, rather than readers. Their heads are focused on number$ and our hearts are focused on relationships. Therein lies the difference.
FWIW there are internet sites/tools available that we can all use to type in the url of any site and see their traffic patterns.

I was getting more readers before I took a blogging hiatus. I never did have 100+ readers though. I am working on the quality of my writing and I'm sure the readers will increase.

It all depends on what you're looking for. Traffic can be had many different ways. I see a lot of great ideas and links here on this thread.
But quality traffic is done the old fashioned way as some people have stated. Just like in "real" life.......or real business. Face to face, grass roots is ideal. But it does require a lot of time.
If you want quality traffic, you have to visit other blogs. Comment and establish relationships with people whom you like and respect.
Sincerity goes a long way. So does perseverance!
Good luck! -
Also, figure out what sites you like and use them a lot. Meaning, don't spread yourself so thin.
Join 3-5 networking sites and really get involved.
I'm listing some here. I don't use all of them. And I'm not necessarily endorsing any of them except BC of course, which is great!!
It's always best to decide for yourself and see what works best for you and your BLOG. Hope this helps.

Wow, reading the comments was an eye-opener. I rarely dip under 100 and sometimes reach 1000. I blog about very specific things on different days like Mandala Mondays, Cat Saturdays etc. which effect the ups and downs. Consistency is important. I create and post a photo quote de jour every single day.
-
I don't get that many visitors. I use Twitter and Facebook to highlight new posts, and I usually get more visitors after that. But on an average day I definitely have less than 100. I think 30-40 is good! But mine is a journal type blog about a very specific subject matter, and I guess it is more about me getting stuff out rather than trying to impart anything to other people or trying to make money. I'm still blown away when total strangers take the time to read and comment on anything I have posted. And I have made a few online friends since started to blog earlier this year. I'm more than happy with that.
