Designer Toys are still unheard of by lots of people. But it's very easy to get hooked. See for yourself why.

Wow, you've got real vintage stuff there. 1967! Have you ever featured your collection in your blog? And you're the only woman I know who collects die cast cars. Cool!
-
A product of my environment! (We had a lot of classic cars when I was growing up) I've never put them on my blogs, though--though now that you mention it they'd make some great pictures--because they don't really fit any of my themes. And I'm absolutely not (remind me of this, please!) starting another blog. Not. Definitely. No.

Legos, drums, monkeys, and medals how interesting! I'd love to read about their stories. cymrusteve, you must have been some athlete!
-
My most recent favorite collection is postcards from about 1910.
They're such fun because the graphics are absolutely not made like that anymore, very vibrant colors-- some of them actually have ribbon or fabric glued to them-- and some of the sayings sound so quaint now.
Best thing is, they're cheap, don't take up much space, and yet seem like just a little bit of history to me.
I actually use them when I need specific holiday/occasion graphics for my blog. -
does cds of my favorite singer - sandy lam - counts? from black vinyl to posters, from photos to magazine cut out.
other than tat, would love to collect vintage sunnies that i would pay and wear them myself, not those ridiculous ones haha! so far i got only a couple vintages and am still searching them around. Any one got any? -

I wish we could post pics of these collections somewhere... That would be really interesting. A montage of different and unique inclinations....

Light houses - I have always liked them b/c they remind me that sometimes when things might go wrong for us, our faith brings us back.
And isn't faith what its all about? -
Both, I was collecting both kinds but I have stopped of a while as there was to many of them.
The picture, you have to enter it in HTML code.
Try one Acomia
-
Thats great... U did it!
And you want to hear something else Acomia?
I once gave what I thought was a really nice custom made light house that cost me a pretty penny to someone that I thought would enjoy it.
It was really pretty and this one light house had a custom crystal glass bulb where the light shines threw and it reflected threw the crystal which then does rotate threw out the room as most of the ones I have you can use as night lights.
Anyway.....you know what he said to me?
He said....."I don't like stuff" -
Well, that's the thing with collectors like us; some people will never understand our attraction to particular 'stuff'. :-D But of course, that's no excuse for rudeness on the part of your friend. He could have at least said 'Thank you'.

I collect Rare books, mainly to read.
Semi precious stones which I now use to create my own artisan jewelry.
I plan on selling them later to make some extra cash and also a hobby when I have spare time at home. I'm taking a couple of artisan jewelry classes starting next month, already signed up for them.
I collect sea shell sometimes and animal horns along with Masai spears and shields.
They come in handy when I need to run down an old landlord when he comes around to ask for rent.
I would also like to add that I have gotten sick of possessions and one day gave them all away at my local Goodwill store. My mother thought I was nuts but I honestly didn't miss them. -
I used to collect stamps and coins... until someone decided to hide them from me and not tell anyone where they were hidden until after a year. By the time I found it, I already lost interest and sold my collection.
-
@ryam...Damn I know how you feel....I had a collection of stamps and that was later stolen.
My Grandmother collected bells which she loved to ring and annoy me with during the day. Originally the bells were there for her to ring to signal to us that she's having trouble with her heart condition and/or diabetes. We would know what to do.
Of course she constantly abused the system and rang those bells when nothing was wrong with her. I went completely mad one day and took a hammer and smashed them all
and handed them to her. I had enough of the bells.

I´ve got a small collection of coins that was given to me a decade ago. I don´t have a particular interest in coin-collecting, but I've kept the coins in case I should travel in the future and get a chance to expand this collection.
My father also has a coin collection from his travels, but he doesn't travel anymore and just keeps the coins in a drawer. Up until this topic I hadn't thought of them in many years. -

Believe it or not...I have a huge Happy Meal Toy collection...back in the good ol days I was a proud victim of the Standard American Diet (SAD)...my hope now, however is to pay off my medical school student loans with them someday. That would be the ultimate in satire. I have seen some high bids on ebay for these thins already and figure in another 20 years they may be worthy buku. *shudders at the thought of still paying student loans in 20 years*

Comic Books! Only now, since I can't afford them.
I blog about them.

Coins, pogs (known here as tazos), magazines and bad memories. I'd like to get rid of that last one, though.

I have a collection of Barbie-dolls. Mostly modern and a few reproduction dolls. I also do "designer Barbies" or more accurately Barbie customizing, which means I reroot their hair (cut out the old and put in a new) and repaint the face to get a unique (OOAK) Barbie or Ken -doll.
Here's a picture-gallery of my dolls: www.thebdoll.com/gallery/index.php?cat=3 -
i just started collecting hotwheels, matchbox, tomica etc last july 2009. i have now approximately 200 of them.. after buying them i then stash them in their blister packs/boxes away from site! haha.. when im having a bad day i open my drawer or just sit right in front of them! opening one is the greatest de-stresser.. that is, only after i've convinced myself that it's worth reaping.. nothing beats holding them you know..

I used to collect crap. Which means speculation…thinking something will grow in value. An investment! HA! Everything I collect is worth exactly what I paid for it. And factor in inflation, less. And figure trying to sell this crap on Ebay…the time and effort. Forget collecting for profit…stick with the STOCK MARKET! That is a sure fire way to make big money! Yeah right.
-
err..I have a collection, of many things,
coins..yeah but I lost interest in it, cuz that was when I was a kid, and soon I learned that, currency holds more value.
NOw..I diversified myself into a more happenind collection.
Porn,
I think in my friends circle... the alpha male is not known by how many girl friends he have, but by his porn collection count..either in the number of CD's or DVD's or the Total MB/GB/TB ..which ever is higher.
weird world I say.. -
I collect my cinema stubs/tickets of movies I go to see. I can tell you pretty much every movie I've been to see, where and when in the last decade hehe. Good fun reading back through them.
Oh, also NES/SNES carts and console stuff.
Don't like to clutter the house up too much though, how do you all find room for your collections? Ever had to throw something out because it was just becoming a bit too much?-
I have a large collection of NES, Sega Genesis, and Atari consoles and games. We keep the games in under the bed plastic storage bins.
Our basement is finished and the pinballs are down there, except for the 3 we're restoring. My other half's jukeboxes and wall boxes are also down there, except for the ones we're restoring. My books are in storage right now, no room in the house until we built shelves in one bedroom's walls. Our cameras are on display in the livingroom.

I have called antique Keris, is estimated to be made at the time of Majapahit Kingdom in Java island, Indonesia, + / - 15-16 century. With relief as the flow of river water, a little blue black, very beautiful. Was rarely found in Indonesia & of course very rare in the world.
