Are you addicted to anything that is hurting your wallet? How do you cope with it?

I myself have lost $700 this month to my poker addiction. I'm considering ways to help me curb my addiction.

How about you?

I have a cheese addiction, but I'm a really picky vegetarian so I won't have cheese with rennet. That leads to some expensive cheese.

Not a serious problem like gambling addiction, though. What are you considering to help?

As good a deterrent as any, I suppose.

I think probably going broke would be a great deterrent, but that kind of feeds into my addiction.

Caffeine, especially fancy coffee drinks like Mochas. I love Mocha. Wouldn't be caught dead in a Starbucks though.

I've never taken to coffee. I do know people that must have coffee drinks every day, multiple times a day, and can't pass up a Starbucks without walking inside.

I'm a gambler... BUT... I have certain limits.

So I try VERY hard to stand on those limits and I only use PRE-PAID.

If you guys are running into some problems and you need someone to talk to - I'm available.

I know that I advertise and do Gambling promos - and I advocate for it - BUT... I also know there is a DARK side to this gambling, so I am very protective about it. So if you need someone to talk to - I have some resources and some advice on this side of the fence.

    OK?

    Sending hugs out!

All addiction comes down to biology, usually the brain chemical dopamine which is what makes one "high." This can be stimilated in numerous ways, from cocaine to risk-taking. Lack of sleep and other factor can lead to low brain L-Dopa levels and make a person more succeptible to addiction.

I have also used the herbal supplement Tribulus Terrestris, which suppoosedly promotes healthy L-Dopa levels. I used it while chronically sleep deprived, and it seemed to help mood and concentration. Might be worth a try

I am addicted to antique auctions! I _could_ go into an ordinary high street antique shop and buy an antique, exactly as you would buy any other retail object. But that has no appeal.

Although I am indeed passionate about antiques in general, it is the _auction_ that is the addictive part. The pre-sale examination of the objects, the examination of the suggested price range, the careful watching of other people at the auction, the excitement of the bidding process itself, the telling nod to the auctioneer!

Not as nasty as addiction to drugs, cigarettes, gambling or alcohol trailofpen, but just as expensive if let out of control.
