After 7 years in the military, I decided to get out and come home. I was working a damn good job learning to become a diesel mechanic on marine diesel engines. Since the economy took a nose dive, most of our clientele decided to hold off on maintenance for their boats.

As a result, I am now searching daily for a good job. Spending too much time tweaking my resume, and now working on my blog. I guess it is a blessing in diguise.

after visiting thenoz you will find a job

We are in the same boat. My husband is relisting with the military. Civilian life sucks.

    No No and No,

I don'y have any. I feel that I am more intelligent than my boss. where ever I go I come across such kind of things or feelings. even I have tested in few ways and the result was true. So I came out and trying to build my own kind of business whether it is small or big I will run for my self.
    1. thenoz
how is that working out for you?
  3. freudpsyche

No job. Welfare Recipient due to legal inequality and its fallout.
  5. nburmandesign
I do. I'm self employed and as such can never be out of a job. I can be out of work, but not out of a job.

The last day I worked was Oct. 31. I don't want to work, but I'll have to go back eventually. Unemployment is sexy.

My hubby lost his high paying, executive level job in commercial construction 5 months ago. The job offers he has had have been for almost 1/3 of his previous income and have come attached with employment contracts as they are afraid he will leave as soon as the economy turns and he can find a job at his previous level.

We are paying $1700 a month for health insurance (3 daughters) and we are almost out of our 6 month reserve. We cannot find any private health insurance as my daughter has asthma!!! Seriously they will not insure her. Yesterday we lost almost all of the rest of our nest egg.

My business was just getting started when he lost his job. Although I am doing well with my business, it is not bringing in enough to make up the loss from his salary.

Sometimes I catch myself and laugh and think how great life is and then I wake up and realize I am living in a whole different world now. My husband was making over $20,000 a month and now he is bringing in $1000 a month in unemployment. Please let me add that unemployment is so not sexy.

He is a fantastic photographer so he is trying to launch a new business with that. So far he has one relatively nice size job so wish us both luck!

Income is a necessity...a job is not.

Best of luck to you and your family! I was just recently laid off from a construction company. I was only an administrative assistant.

At the moment I have a job and it doesn't look like they are laying anyone off. There are rumors that they may make people take 13 unpaid days off over the course of the year, but right now they are just rumors.
  9. Onchong
I have a decent-paying job right now. I was actually offered a higher position and an excellent package in another financing company. However, I decided to stay put 'coz the work time is so much more convenient for me.

  11. Norski
    Yes, I've got a job.

That being the case, am I

    A)Scared of losing it
No - I'm self-employed, an can't afford firing my workforce.

B)Mess Around all day like thenoz
I don't know enough about your habits to make an educated guess about that. But, yes: I mess around part of the day. Some of that messing around winds up as blog posts.

    C)Play Poker online
Nope, but members of my family play poker with relatives.

    D)Live in your moms Basement
    No.

    E)Been Better had Less
Yes to both questions. I was born in the Truman administration, and have experienced ups and downs.

    F)Waiting for a Bailout
    Hardly.

    G)Give Up
    That's not an option.
  12. LaMirabelle
    I'm self employed. Not worried.
    Happy.

I was just laid off about 4 weeks ago as an Administrative Assistant at a construction company that I didn't really like anyway but had given 3 1/2 years of my life too because I couldn't afford to quit and I was able to have a lot of flexibility there. Now, I'm currently on unemployment trying to grow our home business and make enough income so I don't have to go back to work for someone else. I love the freedom of network marketing and the potential of creating a residual income.

    Unfortunately no, I don't
And not from a lack of trying, either. There are just no openings available at the moment. Hopefully, things will pick up and I can put my shiny, new degree to work for a while before heading back into academia

Yes I have a job outside of working at home. I am a crazy county bus driver. Am I afraid of losing it? Not at all. For 1 thing I won't and for 2 I also work from home.
Do I mess around most of the day? yes I do. I have a job where I can be quite the goof all day.
Don't live in anybody's basement, have my own place.
Waiting for a bailout? Not at all.
Play poker online? Nope go to casinos when I gamble
Give up? Nobody will be that lucky for me to give up
  16. nburmandesign
I'm 99.9% sure my job is safe - I'm self employed, with very low overheads and work from home. I can't get fired, I don't have huge business loans, there are no full-time employees to worry about and I always make a profit. I sell services, not products, so I don't have to worry about my supplier.
Naturally, getting clients is always an issue, but I'm here for the longterm.

I have two jobs; I'm a full time student and work as a Saturday girl at a flower shop. I'm not too worried about losing my florist job as they're not doing too badly thankfully. I don't have that much to do really so I don't slack off. With my studies however it's a whole different story..

I have several jobs and I'm into multitasking. My husband and I have a small business that I manage. I'm also an artist (sumei brush painter). I do contract work that I cannot discuss due to non-disclosure clauses. I also moderate and provide technical assistance for 2 small professional online forums as well.
