I live in Canada, and our Labour Day is September 7. Do you have Labour Day where you live and is it called that or something else?

Labour Day commemorates the granting of the eight-hour working day to Australian workers, after they battled the colonial parliaments for decent working conditions. The day is also supposed to recognises workers’ contributions towards the nation’s economy, but I can’t see how that happens. Largely, only union buildings mark the true historical events.
The annual public holiday in my state (Victoria) is in early March, so typically there is a Moomba street parade in the morning and an afternoon at the beach or sporting activity.
Christmas and Easter tend to exclude non-Christians, Cup Day is about horse racing (which I dislike) and Armistice Day is a bit too militaristic for me, so Labour Day is my absolute favourite public holiday. -

Ditto .. Canadian here..
It's quite annoying when our anniversary (august 31) falls on a day other than Friday thru Sunday .. and have to wait until the first Monday to have a long weekend, in case we want to get away. You can get away if the 31st falls on a Thursday, and take a super long weekend, but can't do that this week.
